- Matthew2024-06-21flash drive with lightning and USB connectors for a more universal connection
Okay: this thing is rather neat. From the listing, it looked like a stylish flash drive, advertising USB-C and lightning connectors. 256GB storage capacity none too shabby either. Upon taking delivery of it, a few things of note: the good: it seems built well enough. Feels solid. A pleasing smooth metal, no cheap plastic casing here! When I plug it into either of my USB-C iPads, it is instantly recognized and works like a charm. Actually the first time I’ve done such a thing, although I’ve been vaguely aware of the capacity to do so. It even came with printed manuals (two: one for general operations with the Files.app and others, and another for their backup app, UBackup) the less good: I couldn’t get it to work on my lightning iPhone SE 3. I got a message, once, indicating I needed to download an App, which I did, briefly, but at no point could I get it to work, either in the capacity indicated in the manual, or any other. So, a viable-seeming USB-C flash drive, absolutely. A lightning flash drive? For me: not yet. The device actually doesn’t have a USB-C connector: it has a classic type-A USB-3 connector. It ships with an adaptor chunk (plastic, but at least solid-feeling plastic). Their UBackup app seems sketchy. It wanted me to grant permission, I tried limiting it to a fixed set of photos, but the app refused to work unless I granted full permission to all my photos. Nope: deleted. Tried rebooting phone, tried flipping it over and plugging it in. Nada. To their credit: the manual does include this very troubleshooting information. It just didn’t work for me. Now, they make constant reference to the iPhone 15 (which I thought only shipped with USB-C), so if it is somehow limited to the iPhone 15 on the phone side, I don’t see how the lightning connector could ever by viable (maybe on a sufficiently old iPad?) So, a mixed bag: for what the device actually is, it seems well built and functions well. There’s a bit more polish than I’d otherwise expect from this type of operation. But: not exactly as advertised, couldn’t get it working on my phone (but did at least try to communicate, once), and they were trying to push their UBackup thing on me, which I wasn’t getting good vibes from. For me, it is a keeper, if only to have a decent capacity (256GB), USB-C flash drive. That I can genuinely use. However, as a means of interconnection with lightning-based iPhones, it didn’t work out for me, although if there’s no technical limitations (ie if it was just my particular phone, being old), the premise is sound.
- Jayne2023-07-21Just what I needed!
I use my phone to take a lot of photos and videos for church. It's always filling up and such a pain to try and transfer them. I do have Google Photos as back up but just nervous if I delete I will lose them. I thought I would try this stick, and it was easy to install and so far such a breeze to now transfer my photos to the Google Drive and I can place them in specific file folders. Not only that, but I hope it keeps working like it does now! Total lifesaver and time saver. Oh, it said when you plug it into your phone, it will take you to the app. It didn't, but they give you a great little instruction booklet. Downloaded the app and was up and running within seconds.
- MommyZ2023-12-03Awesome device
This is a simple and tiny piece of technology that helps with big projects. It frees up space on your phone. I also used it with a VHS to USB converter so old VHS videos can be loaded onto modern devices and even shared. Now there's no worry about something happening to irreplaceable memories that are decades old. Great that it has both a type C and Apple connection.

- Jestershock2024-06-30There are good things and bad things about this flash drive
There are both good points and bad points in regards to this flash drive. On the plus side, it has a very good storage capacity. The price is also quite fair. It comes with its own free to use app, which is very nice. The instruction manual is incredibly thorough and helpful. On the negative side, the drive won't fit into a phone while the case is on. The drive and app don't work with older model phones. And when in use, the drive very quickly heats up, which is concerning. All in all, it's a mixed bag. I'm not completely happy with this purchase, so I don't think I can recommend it.
- Amazon Customer2024-06-27EXCEPTIONAL STORAGE SPACE AND WORKS ACROSS MULTIPLE DEVICES, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE A TYPE C CONNECTOR
If you’re running low on storage space on your iPhone, this 256GB flash drive will save your day — and in rose gold, to boot, a color I love so much I’ve even chosen it for my razor. Unless you have 2TB memory on your phone, you’ll probably need to make room for all those stunning photos and epic videos. This flash drive has a massive 256GB capacity, giving you plenty of room for photos, videos, and the filmed biography you may be planning. And it’s not just for iPhones. The drive works seamlessly with iPads, Android devices, and even computers. But the flash drive does have one drawback. And it’s not small if you have an iPhone 15: it doesn’t have a built in Type-C connection. You have to use the adaptor that comes with the drive. The adaptor’s fine. It works. It’s just annoying to buy a brand new flash drive with technology that’s already obsolete. It’s a pity, because this really is a nice, small, sleek, incredibly user-friendly and capacious flash drive. But if you have an iPhone with a lightning connector, you’ll be thrilled, because that’s what’s on one end of the flashdrive. Especially designed for iPhones (though, sadly, old iPhones). Simply plug it into your iPhone's charging port, and your phone will recognize it instantly. No additional software is required. Your iPhone will likely prompt you to launch a file management app. This app lets you browse the contents of your phone's storage and the flash drive. Select the photos, videos, or other files you want to move to the flash drive and choose the "copy" or "move" function within the app. The files will be transferred to the flash drive, freeing up space on your iPhone. The flash drive comes with a standard USB-A connector on the other end. This allows you to connect it to your computer for additional file management or data backup. (Unless you have a new Mac laptop, which, again, is fitted for the C type connectors. So you’ll need an adaptor for your laptop, too. Bummer.) Overall, the 256GB Flash Drive is a good solution for anyone looking to expand their storage capacity. It's easy to use, offers exceptional storage space, and works across multiple devices.
- Rev. David A. Smith2024-06-10Good for phones/tablets, not just computes. Some minor complaints.
This flash drive is designed to work with all types of devices, computers (Windows, Linux and Mac) and phones/tablets (Android and Apple). This is because it has, built into it, two types of USB plugs: USB-A (Windows and some Linux computers (and maybe old Macs?)) and lightning (some apple devices). And an adapter to covert the USB-A to USB-C, to connect to newer Android devices and some Apple devices. First I checked to see that it actually has the advertised storage capacity. (NOTE: It is possible to get "counterfeit" drives, that claim more capacity than they actually have). I simply attached the drive to a windows machine and checked the "properties". All is well. It was reasonable fast. I copied 60 Gig of video data from a NAS (Network Attached Storage, gigabit Ethernet attached), through a Windows 7 desktop (input side also gigabit Ethernet attached)(output side USB 3.0 port), to this flash drive in, about 20 minutes. Pretty good. A little better than some.. Then I tested with other devices. I connected the flash drive to an Android table, which required the USB-A to USB-C adapter. The android instantly recognized the drive, and I played a few moments of a video, just fine. I connected the flash drive to a Mac Mini M2, using the USB-A Connector. The Mac instantly the drive (I had to hunt around in "finder"), and I played a few moments of a video, just fine. The two built-in plugs are selected by flipping/pivoting the cover, from end to end. The connector fits snugly in the device. I consider this a good thing (I've had devices and/or cables that fit loosely, and the contact was unreliable). My minor complaints are: 1) No pilot light. 2) One of the built-in connectors is always exposed. I prefer if they are only "out" when you want to use it. 3) It got pretty warm when doing the data-copy speed-test for speed. In general, heat is the enemy of electronics. 4) The USB-C end of the A-to-C adapter was too wide to fit through the slot in the CASE protecting my Android phone, with which I first tried to test. So, I tested on my Android tablet. The design is understandable -- a USB-A connector is wider than a USB-C connector, and the adapter was made with a rectangular shape. Unfortunately this meant the USB-C end would not fit through the opening in my phone's case. The solution would be to make the adapter with a tapered shape. I can't comment on is how long it will last - I've been testing for only about an hour. I've had flash drives (mostly brand name) last years, and others only a few months. And a few that were DOA from the store (and therefore returned). The built quality looks to be good. So, if your internal storage is more-so full, and you want more movies (or audio, or photos, or anything)(say, for a trip), you can load them up on this flash drive, and play them on your device. Just as intended.

Product: Flash Drives 256GB Intended for iPhone 15, Memory Stick Storage for Photos and Videos, USB External Memory Storage Flash Drive Compatible with iPhone iPad Android and Computers (Dark Grey) This flash drive is versatile since it can connect to devices in several ways. It can be used with a variety of types of devices including Apple products, Android and Microsoft computers. I got it to use with an Android phone and Windows 11 laptop. My intention is to use it when I have a lot or large files I want to transfer between devices. I also want to be able to record video directly onto it with my phone. To be able to use it with Android phones, your phone will need to be OTG (on-the-go) compatible. I have a Samsung S24fe, and it is compatible. I have found a few things about this flash drive that makes it not as convenient as I expected it to be. First, I have to remove my phone from the case to be able to plug in the flash drive in via the USB C port. I do have a thicker case, but don’t normally have a problem with USB C fitting. There’s a piece of plastic sticking out of the side of the C attachment for a lanyard. I’m not sure it would fit if that wasn’t there, but it certainly won’t with it there. Just be aware you may need to take phones out of their cases. The second issue is that it is inconsistent in being recognized by the device. It must be a known issue, because they mention it in the literature for the drive. I just have to keep putting it in and taking it out until it finally is recognized. This holds true for my laptop as well, so it’s not just with a phone. I am plugging it into the C port on my laptop, since files transfer faster using the USB C port. It does have a good amount of storage. I’m happy enough with it in general, just not ecstatic.
