    A pleasure to build in

I transplanted a mini-ITX build into this thing and now have so much room for activities! Been building in Fractals for about a decade now. Solid and well thought-out designs, plenty of options for mounting fans and radiators to, adequate cable management channel space/tietowns. The North is no exception - great to build in and looks good on a desk or an AV shelf. Cooling/noise-wise, the two stock fans up front are working perfectly fine in their default configuration. Even at their max speed, the noise is noticeable but tolerable. Only found that out because I plugged them into the AIO header on my board on accident rather than the PWM header. Oops!

    Great case with elegant design

I have built somewhere in the neighborhood of 50ish systems over the years. Most were custom water cooled rigs for friends or clients. This case was a replacement for a mistake I made with my personal rig years back. I followed a trend which I normally would not do and built in the NZXT H400. Not a terrible case but poor airflow. My i9 9900k and RTX 2070 didn't suffer in the NZXT at all. In fact CPU idle temps hung around 32c with a 68-72f room temp. However, under extreme loads with a mild overclock I would see my CPU rise to mid 60s and GPU do the same. Well within safety zone but not what I wanted from a system cooled by a 280 radiator. After re--building in the North I saw a drastic drop in CPU and GPU idle temps. CPU at 22c and GPU at 24c. Under load I am seeing peak temps in the mid 50s. I am using the factory case fans with the rad as intake, 2x 140mm corsair LL140 fans as top exhaust and a Noctua industrial 120mm as rear exhaust. I plan to upgrade all fans to Noctua industrial shortly. The North is very easy to build in and offers reasonable cable management room in the back.

    Best Case ever!

Only slightly pricy, but worth every penny. Where to begin? The power supply has a bracket that allows for a quick release, which is super useful if you need to add a cable after installation. There's plenty of space to work inside it and the thumb screws for PCIe cards make it easy to install devices. There's a bus for 4 fans on the back side so you only need to plug in one 4-pin for your case fans. Velcro straps in the back. It's beautiful oak panel ... need I say more? My one complaint is that it is slightly larger than I expected, not terribly so, but it is not small. This is a good thing for working on it, but aesthetically not exactly perfect. More things... oh ya, the top panel comes off by a leather tab in the back for easy fan access. The HDD bays on the bottom aren't perfect, but there's plenty of room to mod it is you need more than 2.

Great Case, Very Quiet, Awesome Aesthetics

The case has great features, strong, well built, and the wood is structurally sound with no signs of cheap workmanship. Lots of space to attach fans, control air flow. and a lot of room for later expansions. Pieces attach back together with a satisfying "snap" so you know they are secure. Mobile Fan/PWM hub is a nice touch. I love everything about this case.

    Beautiful case

Looks great, easy to set up. Tired of cases that look like a ufo fell in a vat of radioactive skittles. This one is elegant and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in my home. LEDs are minimal - just one small white LED on top to show on/off. Also no trouble setting it up. Lots of removable parts so it's easy to get to everything. Very roomy and easy to fit everything in

Pricey! But worth the money if you want a case in its own class.

Great Case! Truly in a class of its own. Included fans are not impressive. I added Noctua fans through out for a sleek, sexy, and Quiet PC. The North is pricey, no doubt, but it does stand in a class of its own. the wood look may not be for everyone. But, I love it!

    Best Design

I have something to say about this case, it is both wonderful and terrible. I'll start with the design. In my opinion, it is one of the best minimalist designs I have seen. But the quality... Don't get me wrong, the metal is very dense, the glass is good, the meshes and other elements are generally well made. But everything regarding screws (in any part of the case) is simply terrible. Any screws are very tight. Many of the holes seem to be slightly offset. Every time I have to press the side covers very tightly to screw or unscrew them. I had the same problems with the screws for the power supply frame, and with any other removable components. It was especially unpleasant to screw in the video card. The holes for it were quite displaced. The motherboard also had one hole displaced, but in the end I was able to screw it in. The last thing I want to talk about is the side panel fan mount. This may be obvious to some, but it only goes into the mesh version of the sidebar. In conclusion, I want to say that this is a fairly good case, it has all the necessary features for a good build. If you are ready to put up with some of the disadvantages that I voiced, then take it without thinking. It's really well designed and has plenty of room for cables, cooling and a video card. So I'm willing to put up with some shortcomings for the sake of design. I just think for the price it could be of better quality.

Now for a grown-up case... For my shamelessly RGB-saturated gaming rig (LOL)

I love the modern mid-century, classy vibe of this case! Then of course I had to put a ridiculous gaming computer with RGB's everywhere inside, immediately, lol. The building was easy, although I never found a fan hub in the cable management section so don't let it break your heart on that level (no biggie for me). Perhaps it was for the mesh-sided case. I LOVE the overall smart designs, especially the easy-release (my term) PSU dock. It's super useful when swapping out psu's or just working on cable management, especially with a fully modular PSU. And just the back design: It's beautiful. First time ever I could sneak a little 80mm rear exhaust fan in addition to the standard 120. Never thought I would check out a computer's backside so much, lol! All the dust panels are incredibly easy to access and remove--YES!!! But be aware that the top slides off almost too easily, and the front could pop off fairly easily during transport. I now A. slide the top off and set it aside and B. I am VERY careful about not using the bottom of the front cover as a handle if I need to move the case. This thing is such a beauty--and really a design marvel--I don't want to risk dropping it. Would recommend this to anyone. Thanks to Fractal Design for letting me have my cake and eat it too with my (secretly classy) bedroom/office gaming setup! I'm very incredibly pleased.

    Good, not great

Let me say this right at the start – this case is slightly overrated. Yes, I know you have seen glowing reviews on YouTube but this is the problem when companies send products to reviewers and they review them without spending their own money. At $149 + tax, this case isn’t cheap, so it should be perfect (it isn’t). What is good about the case is the use of wood (pretty much the highlight of the case) – it looks nice. It would have been even better if you could choose both the oak and the walnut wood colors on either the black or white case (oak comes on the black case and walnut on the white case – no substitutions). Another plus for the case is that it has pretty good airflow – at least the mesh version. It has a place for 3 X120 mm intake fans upfront (it comes with 2X140 fans fitted in the front) 2X140 exhaust fans and 1X120 mm exhaust in the rear. Now for the stuff that I did not like. 1. Space to work with – there is minimal clearance on the top and bottom of the case – so once you put the motherboard in there is a tiny place to say take out your graphics card, reseat fan headers, etc. Although it has pretty good cable channels, the one on top where most times you will need to route your MOBO power cables is just tiny. Fitting a large graphics card like a 4080 or 4090 requires you to remove the side panel and even then, it is a very tight fit. Even routing SATA cables to the drive bays at the bottom of the case is a pain. 2. Screws – at this price point the screws should come properly labeled in a plastic box with compartments. Cheaper cases from other manufacturers have this. One glaring mistake was that I was just not able to locate the screws for anchoring the motherboard. Luckily, I had some ones left from an old Dell PC I had dismantled or this build would have gone south very quickly. 3. Fan Hub – The Fan Hub included works – well, kind of. You can put 4 fan headers and it comes out in one single fan header which can be put into the motherboard. The problem was that although it had power (fans would run) – there was no sensor readout for the RPM. So, I connected the fans directly to the MOBO. 4. Cable Management Space – the cable management space on the right of the case is very tight. An extra 0.5 inch would have helped given the numerous wires we have nowadays that we need to cable manage including the thick power supply cables to the MOBO and GPUs. Right now, I have a 1 mm bulge on the right side of the case due to the clearance issues. All in all, it is not a terrible case, however nowhere as great as the YouTube reviewers suggest. It is nice with some caveats and honestly would be better priced at $100 to $125.

High quality and well designed case

It's a great quality case and worth the money. I needed something that has a bit of a organic and aestheic feel, and this was it. The front panels are real and quality finished oakwood. I needed a full size case and I was glad they offered it in this size. They have two more sizes available that are smaller. They also have it with a clear side (left side) for displaying. It arrived on time and in double box packaging. Very happy with purchase. Highly recommended.
