As my headline says, Ethernet splitters like this unit have a somewhat limited reason for being used, when Amazon has quite a number of 5-port Ethernet *switches* that sell for the same or even less than this unit. It is very compact compared to a switch, and there certainly are cases where you need just two Ethernet outputs (and are sure you will never need more). However, as with our AV setup, we might have started needing only two Ethernet connections, but that grew and grew, so a 5-port switch was a better option. This is probably most appropriate for something like temporarily connecting a laptop to your Ethernet connection to your desktop, or when travelling to share a hotel Ethernet connection. Anyway, this unit works just fine. It has a USB-C port to power it, and a 1m USB-C to USB-A cable, but no power supply. Functions fine when powered from a USB-C charger, which is mainly what we have now. Note that it does not come with any Ethernet cables, so e.g. sharing your desktop Ethernet with a laptop will require that you also supply two Ethernet cables. Giving unit four stars, since while it works fine, you are paying a premium for size apparently, as compared with several name brand 5-port switches I see on Amazon. And those switches come with power supplies! Edit: After reading a couple of negative reviews I will add: I tested this unit splitting a gig Ethernet connection to a laptop and an audio streamer, and simultaneously then streamed audio and watched web videos, all without any hickups. And as for safety issues? Huh? This device is designed to run from a USB-A charger putting out 5 volts. Are your flashlights UL certified? Yeah, didn't think so. The safety (i.e., certification) needs to be in the charger, not this effectively battery powered device.

This is used to hard wire internet cable to Firestick (as opposed to using wireless)
