direct fit very nice Highly recommended

Very quality product the prying tools are not very good it would be nice if it would come with a thin metal Prying tool to make removal of broken Digitizer but in general great product.

    Works and fits properly

The video instructions on this page are adequate to get the job figured out if you already know what you're doing. Details I might've liked to have known: 1) The screen is slightly recessed into the case. You place the blade straight down and then lever down to get underneath. 2) On the 2020 edition, you remove the rear circuit board in order to run the cable/chip through to the back. You need only loosen it, not fully remove. 3) There are little plastic tabs holding the board in. 4) Ribbon cables are exceptionally delicate, and they aren't all necessary if you don't remove the board. There is a BLACK TAB PIECE on several that will SNAP FROM HORIZONTAL TO VERTICAL WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT FORCE. THIS RELEASES THE RIBBON CABLE. Snap back down when ribbon cable is fully reinserted. Test before reinstalling the case. 5) The small wiring harness with 6 small wires coming out of it lifts directly up to remove.

Perfect fit, worked perfectly with no issues.

My son cracked the digitizer on his Kindle Fire Kids 8HD. Bought this as a replacement and it worked perfectly. As stated before, there are no instructions nor any decent how to videos. I had to rely on mostly my own intuition and experience to reverse engineer how it would assemble. If you've ever replaced an iPad or phone digitizer, this will be mostly easy. The kit comes with a tool kit that has all the tools needed. Once I saw the replacement adhesive tape, I knew my handy soldering/heat gun station was going to be used. If you dont have one, you can use a hair dryer but it will take longer. If you have a soldering/heat station....this will be easier. 1. Use the guitar picks and long spudger to unsnap and separate the rear casing from the internals. 2. Flip the innards over and you will see on the new digitizer where the corresponding ribbon cable is on the PCB. the ribbon cable slides into the connector. Use the tweezers to flip up the small black catch on the connector to unlock the ribbon cable and then unplug the battery cable from the PCB. 3. using the small Philips screwdriver, unscrew the 5 or 6 screws that hold the PCB to the frame. This is to allow enough room for the ribbon cable to be thread out of between it and the frame. The hole is smaller than the cable, so use a spudger to wiggle some room later. 4. using a heat gun, start heating the outer edge of the glass digitizer, loosening the adhesive. slide the guitar picks along the edge as you go, separating it from the frame (this leaves the screen untouched underneath). 5. once the digitizer is separated, pry the ribbon cable out (using quick heat on the processor on the ribbon cable as its glued to the PCB with adhesive) and remove the digitizer completely. 6. remove excess remaining adhesive out from around the screen frame and lay new adhesive strips. 7. remove the protective film on the inside of the digitizer and thread the ribbon cable back through the housing. 8. using tweezers, remove the adhesive backing on the strips and carefully lay the screen down on the frame, pushing into the adhesive all the way around and making sure its flush. 9. flip it over and adhere the ribbon cable to the PCB, slide the cable into the connector and lock it in. 10. at this point you can plug the battery back in and test your work, making sure the digitizer works properly. 11. replace all screws and then snap the case back on....youre done.

    Great replacement screen, somewhat difficult

This was much more difficult than I anticipated. However, with patience and YouTube, I was successfully able to replace the screen on my son’s tablet. To clarify, this would be difficult no matter what “kit” you bought. It’s just not a quick and easy process so this is no reflection of the quality of the product. There are some connections that need to be disconnected in the back, prior to removing screen. One was the battery (I actually didn’t do that though the YouTube video did it) and some kind of connection that is actually attached to the screen. I’m not a hugely technical person though I’m a big DIYer. I was a little afraid that I would mess something up when the back was exposed but fortunately, once we powered it back on, it was as good as new! Much better option than replacing the entire tablet.

    What a Nightmare.

The screens do not come off easily as they say and the tools provided destroyed the screen and device worse than it was. What a nightmare of a process. Using a very hot hairdryer does not work, the screen picks broke the razor blade broke the plastic tool for the case broke. Don't be fooled. Unless you do this professionally this is not something you want to do and these tools falsely make it seem easy. Buyer beware.

No instructions or even a link to specific video.

I’m giving a “middle of the road” rating because it does what it’s supposed to. But a complete lack of instructions was disheartening. Even with the “find the video on YouTube” was unhelpful as there’s no JPUNG video, all I could find was Average Joe showing me what they purchased and how they fixed it. Not one video was the same kit, so minor differences occurred. Most notably, the biggest difference I encountered was there wasn’t any film on the back side. My attempt to remove what I THOUGHT was the film created a small damage point in the corner (1st picture, doesn’t affect use/vision), and there’s scuff marks toward the bottom where I handled the screen (darker lines in second picture, before realizing the lack of protective film, doesn’t affect use/vision). However, the screen works perfectly, I was able to remove and install without issue (after finding a video with the same model Fire, if not the same screen), so it did the job. I wouldn’t recommend this brand to someone, but if they asked my opinion I’d say “yep, it works.”

    Easy to DIY

The tools weren't always helpful but if you are resourceful you will find things in your home that can be used. I have a heat gun that helped in heating the glue for an easier lift of the screen. once you watch a few videos, you can easily do it yourself. Couldn't even believe i was able to do it and make it work. When i saw the "amazon" came up on screen I felt accomplished lol. .

    Works great!

I think I was a little intimidating by this but once I started, I realized it’s easier than I thought. Even though there were no instructions in the box, I watched a video for guidance . I didn’t have any problems after installing. I would buy again.

Great replacement screen for kids fire hd 8

Kit was great. Had all that was needed. I had a heat gun which made screen removal easy. Read other reviews for install tricks and check out youtube for videos too. Install video from the mfg is sufficient but a little lacking for 1st timer for some detail. Come from the top down near the edge and pry upward w the razor or blue pry tool, not cut from the side. That will cut some plastic case edging I learned. I did not need to detach any additional wires just unscrew the board w provided screw driver and pry it up a little to get a little space for the digitizer ribbon to come through. Glad I did this. Ill prob order another for another kids fire broke where I just bought a new one instead.

    it works

This screen replacement was a good option to fix my son's table after I ran over it with our car. Luckily the screen was only cracked but the tablet was still working. It took my husband a couple of hours to do this and he had access to specialized tools at work that one doesn't usually have just lying around the house (like a heat gun specifically for use with electronics). The screen is a little less responsive than the original and slightly cloudy, whereas the original screen was much clearer. We ordered a new tablet anyway, but having this one fixed is nice so we have a backup.
