First of all, Kasa has my loyalty. Everything I have purchased from them, Mini-plugs to power strips, has worked seamlessly. So to do these Outdoor smart dimmers. However, I don't use them outdoors, I have them attached individually to lava lamps that due to design, need a little more power than the suggested bulb, but less than the next available wattage. They've really helped find the sweet spot for positive flow and allow me to dim the lamps, if they begin to show heat stress. Everything works seamlessly with Alexa. What I wish they made was a smaller dimmer, or at least something exactly like this, but smaller and for indoor use. They tend to be pretty bulky which makes them a little more difficult to hide behind stuff. Other than that, they work and if you need an outside dimmer for your party lights, I'm 100% sure they will work for that as well.

This plug works really well. Very easy to set up. Integrated into our Amazon Alexa easily. I have some string lights on our back porch plugged into it slightly covered and I’ve had zero issues. They’re on a timer via Amazon Alexa and love when I see them turn on. Would definitely recommend.

Setup was quick and easy using the Kasa app, about 10 minutes from start to finish. I mounted this dimmer plug under a soffit on our garage using heavy-duty adhesive hook and loop pads and plugged in our patio lights and an extension cable. Tested voice activation and control using Alexa and it's working properly. A compelling price for ease and convenience. Very happy with this plug!

These are great for turning on and off my string lights without plugging and unplugging them every time I’m using them. The app was easy to navigate and adds a convenient solution to control your lights

Recommended: It took a little work to get it to function but I think that was more about our wifi - not the product. I would purchase another one if needed.

Typically WiFi connected gadgets are difficult to set up or have issues. Once this was plugged in and the app was downloaded, it was quick and easy to set up. Also, after set up it works flawlessly! This is set up on my detached garage for my patio lights and the range for WiFi is excellent.

Using this to control strings of LED and incandescent patio lights. Timer/schedule function and dimmer set up was easy and works great.

This works great now that I figured out how to connect it. It's definitely NOT intuitive. If you join the plug's WiFi too early then your phone can't connect to the app (at least my iPhone couldn't). Then when you do connect, my iPhone 14 indicated that there was no WiFi signal - that's okay, but it seemed like an error, so I tried to figure out the problem. So if the directions were better, it would be 5 stars. One other small issue is that the included "Waterproof Tips" card indicates that you should "secure the plug with provided clamp and screw" - mine didn't include those items. UPDATE: So once I figured out the first one I bought a second, thinking it would be easy to set up. Yes and no. The initial set up was easy, but then the plug didn't appear in my home. So I thought I had set it up wrong so I reset it and set it up again. Same thing - only one (the original) appeared in my home. Turns out because I also have an indoor plug in my office I have two homes, and the app put the new plug in my office "home". Once I did that I had to create another room in my real home and then I could move the plug to the right place. Maybe there is a way to have two plugs in the same room, but I didn't want to spend time on it and it works the way it is.

This dimmer outlet requires you install an app on your phone to make it work. I can control it from the internet, but I'm not convinced the convenience of connecting everything to the internet is necessary. In my case, I want to create a schedule and then forget it. I don't need to access my lights from anywhere in the world. Set it and forget it. That's what I want. I installed the app and connected to the outlet. I was able to control my lights manually. I created a schedule to turn the lights on at sunset and off at 12 midnight. The lights came on at 3 in the afternoon. No indication when opening the app for the first time and creating my account of setting a timezone, so it defaulted to GMT. Seems to me, either it reads the time and time zone from the electrical power as some clocks do, or prompt me upon set up. Once I set the timezone, the lights turned on at sunset. Great. Come midnight, the lights are still on. I waited 15 minutes since some timers randomize the on and off time to simulate someone doing it manually, but they stayed lit. I checked the schedule the next day and set it for 11:59 pm off time. Still, they did not go off. I'm sure it is "pilot" error on my part, but setting the schedule seemed easy enough that I could not have screwed it up. I will continue to research for a solution, but in the meantime, I will have to turn them off manually.

I've been extremely impressed with my overall experience with this Kasa Outdoor Smart Plug so far. The app was easy to navigate, the plug was easy to integrate into my smart home, and the plug's response time might be one of the best out of all my smart home devices. I have this plug attached to some outdoor patio string lights - Even with the plug being exposed to the elements including rain, wind, and extreme heat, it just keeps "plugging" along. Would definitely recommend this item to anyone who is looking for an outdoor smart plug. It just works.
