I like this printer for small jobs - I will say it jams pretty easily if you're trying to print anything larger than a few pages. Good for a home printer for my office. Set up was a bit of a puzzle, but we got it connected to one of our laptops successfully and that is now the "printer laptop". Didn't want to go through the entire process again on a different device. Good for the price, and gets the job done, but at the cost of having to unjam it often.
- Cal O2024-05-07TS7720 Great Home Wireless All-In-One Printer
This TS7720 is a great choice for home printing or home office use. Versatile in it's choices for printed media allowed by its front and rear input sources. Seems a little slow on the startup while it's 'getting ready' to print the first page, but once it's printing it seems to move along at a good pace. The printer is fair to good at printing smaller photos, and is just 'OK' with larger 8X10 size prints. The flat bed scanner has no auto-feed input tray so is typical for a 'single-page-at-a-time' scanner. Scan quality is good enough to scan-in Black and white or color documents and photos. The included software is adequate for home use for both printing and scanning. Just be aware this is not a professional quality photo printer/scanner/copier but is adequate for home use. Can't comment yet on the ink usage as I haven't had it long enough to observe its usage over time. Installation is not as simple as the Canon marketing hype would have you believe. It was not just plug-and-play, at least for my setup and installation, which is wireless with Windows 8.1 and Xfinity router. Unpacking is fairly straightforward, just remove it from the box and take off a couple pieces of orange shipping tape. Then the single page instruction sheet gets you started with setup, loading paper and print cartridges, and a link for downloading the setup software and drivers. I'd recommend downloading the TS7720 user manual first - in my case I needed it. I tried using the 'fully automated' Canon installation/setup but it couldn't find the TS7720. After reading the user manual, and learning how to use the TS7720s touch-screen control panel, I first followed the steps to connect the TS7720 to the router. Selecting my router out of the list of all my neighbors’ routers was easy but keying in my router's password was no easy task on the miniature touch screen control panel. Once I got the TS7720 connected to the router, I restarted the Canon setup software and it found the TS7720. After that, the installation went fairly easy - just follow the steps displayed on your computer screen. I also downloaded and did the setup on my wife’s computer so she has full printer/scanner functionality. The Canon installation/setup software easily ‘found’ the TS7720 since I had already connected the TS7720 to my router. One last observation... The TS7720 default setting is to timeout and shut down (power off) after 240 minutes (4 hours). With that configuration, it shuts down every time it has 4 hours of non-use and you have to manually turn it back on each time before you use it. Very aggravating, especially if the TS7720 is in a different room or different floor of the house. After reading the manual I found the solution. If you open the Printers page on your computer, right click on the TS7720 and chose Preferences. Then click on the Maintenance Tab. Then click on the Maintenances and Preferences button. Then click on the Auto Power button. This brings up the Auto Power Settings. 'Enable' Auto Power On. You can also change the Auto Power Off setting here too, if you want it to time out sooner that the default 4 hours, or not time out at all. Now, any time a computer tries to send something, the TS7720 will turn itself on. Once you make this choice it makes the changes in the TS7720 so from now on, it works for any computer that might be using the TS7720.
- Crank2023-03-01Great value for low workloads.
Edit: Still going strong. No issues. I have no idea what the negative reviewers are experiencing, but it almost is assuredly user error of some sort with network, gear, or user control. This thing prints from Wi-Fi flawlessly in a basement setting from 6 feet away in my case, and it prints fairly fast without issue. Inkjets are expensive if you use a lot of ink. This is not a laser printer, and you should not expect to be doing loads of printing for anything on it. For printing photos, it actually has very decent quality, yet this one will use ink at a fast rate like most inkjets. I use this for shipping labels and occasional documents. Almost no photo printing at all. For those who print only sporadically, it's a perfect option. Compared to my last Canon, this one is more compact, easy to setup, Wi-Fi works flawlessly, and setup was basically one and done. I don't understand the issues people are having, but it most likely comes down to your network and lack of expertise. I manually posted my password on first boot, and even though I mostly have Wi-Fi disabled, when I turn it on with the printer, it works and prints without issue; no need to input password again or waste time finding a device. I never had even the slightest issue after password input. It's definitely not super high quality, but it also doesn't have a bunch of stuff I don't need. I like the lack of glossy plastic as well. This thing will fit almost anywhere, and for what it is looks nice and blends in well. We'll see how long the power supply lasts. Scanning works well, though, you will notice it is a little louder than some models. Printing has so far gone as well as before with a more expensive inkjet that died, and this doesn't seem to use ridiculous amounts of ink when on the lowest ink usage settings. Still, the unit will definitely cost you if you print a lot. I always recommend a laser printer for people printing over 20 documents a month. No exceptions. Otherwise, you will be paying out the wazoo for ink on this thing, despite only having two cartridges. Overall, Canon has done about all they can do for a compact inkjet. There isn't much else to do for printers. You won't be getting any major improvements over the years. This is about as small and efficient as it's going to get, and even at that I barely notice the differences from ten years ago. Software is minimal and not invasive if all you want is drivers. I put the services in Win 10 on manual, and there isn't anything else going on outside a scanner tool for my setup. With my needs this is a nice model so far. I hope it lasts.

recently purchased the Canon PIXMA TS6420a All-in-One Wireless Inkjet Printer, and it's a solid choice for basic printing needs. Ease of Use: 4/5 Setting up this printer was a breeze, even for someone like me who’s not the most tech-savvy. It connects seamlessly to Wi-Fi and works like a charm with Alexa for voice commands. Functionality: 4/5 This printer may be simple, but it gets the job done. It handles printing, copying, and scanning efficiently, which is all I really need for my home office. Print Quality: 4/5 The print quality is good for everyday documents and occasional photos. It’s not the best for high-resolution graphics, but it meets my expectations for its price range. Overall: 4/5 If you’re looking for a straightforward, reliable printer that won’t break the bank, the Canon PIXMA TS6420a is a great option. It’s perfect for home use or a small office where simplicity and functionality are key.
- Ahvi & Zack2024-05-21Most infuriating printer I've ever used
For a wireless printer I thought it would be something similar to Bluetooth... Not quite. First, there was no instruction manual in the box, just a single paper with a website instructing registration. (We do not live with a wifi connection so we had to walk this heavy machine up to a friend's house for it's set up and trial prints.) So ok maybe the sit will have sine silly tutorials, an entire FAQ page, some other stuff. Nope. The online manual is a gallery of pictographs, indicating that an app is required for the registration and use of the printer. Ok. Maybe the app will have everything. The app was frustrating to set up it's wireless connection (not really needing wifi at all), and then when finally synced, it's useless for printing anything other than pictures from my phone's gallery. What I mean is, through the Canon PRINT app, you can't access anything else. Which, after getting that far, the damn print quality is too grainy for pictures! Upon finally getting access through the PRINT app yo my documents, it Still won't print. Any time we tried to access documents on my word appto print, the apps on my phone started to act weird, saying that the open document, that I was clearly looking at and trying to print from, was unavailable. My husband was finally able to print from his phone, without the app, straight from other apps or files, directly from our email and even some music chords directly from a website! Yes that's great, if that what I needed the printer for. When synced back up to my phone, the printer refused to access my apps or files, again saying they were unable to open them. Wtf did the PRINT app do to my other apps? Once we were back home, I tried the scanner - the least frustrating thing about the whole day - printer is fine for text, not crisp but not as grainy as images. Struggles with copying stamps.) I am still having difficulty getting my documents from Microsoft Word to print, even when directly saved onto my phone's storage rather than the cloud. It vehemently refuses to connect to my computer without a 4-8 digit pin. Which I don't have. Oh, and the paper tray locks half sticking out, in print mode, only occasionally allowing to be pushed fully back under the body - I still don't know how it went back in the first time and cannot get it to repeat the closure. Afraid to break the damn thing I left it out when I put it away for the day, wholly frustrated with the entire experience. Today when trying again there is a repeated 1001 and 1003 error about the paper tray. I've taken it out, fixed the paper, put it back in about a dozen times. It's fine. Still won't print. Now it won't print anything. The ONLY nice thing about this printer (when you scan!) is that when the paper jams, the back of the machine can be almost be fully opened so you can access the paper trapped around the rollers. I'll admit that was pretty sweet. I got this printer for work and it's by far the most infuriating printer I've ever used. If I could return it, I would, but that would cost more money than I purchased it for.

Have had this thing for approximately 48-72 hours and so far? So great! This thing has a million and one cool settings to mess with - you can even change the color of the status light (green is pictured; it’s a lot more vibrant in person but my phone couldn’t capture it well). This has preloaded patterns in there (one of them is pictured), so I have some free scrapbooking and holiday patterns, and the ability to make notebook and graph paper. Setup was super easy and printing is pretty fast. As soon as I turn the printer on, apple print is able to detect it. And it sends my file immediately. Copying is fast and decent quality. Scanning goes up to 300 dpi which is all I need. The scanning process was a bit slow compared to copying and printing but I thought it was cool you could scan a QR code to save the file to your phone! Very pleased thus far!
- Bill F2024-06-29Great low cost printer
I was a little scared of this printed because of the negative reviews, but gave it a try anyway as it was only $70 at the time of this review. I have to say that so far it seems great. It checks all the boxes for me: - Can print full duplex in color or B&W - Does not require a phone app or PC app to use - Very easy to connect to wifi (when entering the password, you just need to press the shift key change before attempting to enter the letter). - Was able to print from my iPhone and iPad with no issues - Was able to connect to my Windows PC and control both print and scan functions with no additional software install - Has the option to turn off automatically (although minimum time to turn off is 15 minutes, I would have preferred 5). - Has the option to auto turn on whenever a document is printed (although it has to be specifically enabled in the menus as the option defaults to off) And the most important bullet of all: - The printer is not made by HP It is a little slower than my old HP, but was comparable overall. It seemed like the ink was going dry in my HP every couple of months whether I printed anything or not, and at $70, this printer was about the same price as an ink refill on the HP. It will be interesting to be see how the ink performs on this printer.
- Safety Guy2023-01-25Does the job.
Likes: Very good printing. Clean. Responds to just making copies, black or color. Responds to computer print commands, black, color, pages to print, orientation. Other commands. Not a lot of higher cost options, there are added steps, for black, color, but that’s not a challenge. Like a vehicle, with less options, so, use an extra step, push an extra button. Plain paper, photo paper. Scans good; follows the computer commands. Copies good. No top feeder, but if one does an amount of copying, then get the top feeder for the TS 6420a. Not much in dislikes. But one: Cartridge cost. Two XL’s, 260 and 261, That’s almost half the printer cost. A few months of normal printing, another round of cartridges; hence, the cost of the printer itself. A decision: How much printing one does. Individual choice, this printer or another, with three to four color carts, then the two blacks. Note: the amount of ink in the 260 black, standard or XL, is equal to or less than a black standard or XL cart for another printer that has multiple color carts, and two black carts. In the 261 tri-color cart: 3 spaces, three colors. Likely one third the ink, standard or XL, compared to separate color carts, standard or XL, of other printers. Cost: 260 standard or XL black, more than double cost of another black standard or XL for another printer (note: this one 260 black does double duty, compared to two separate black carts of other printer). Cost: 261 standard or XL tri-color, almost triple the cost compared to separate color standard or XL carts on another printer. The others: Replace only that color. The 261 standard or XL: One color empties first, the whole cart could be useless. Compares to pharmaceutical companies, their brand name drugs. Exorbitant prices. Generics? Cost so much less. Affordable. Every printer maker: The cost of their brand carts is sky high. Generic carts? Ink quality? For printing, photos? It’s a real guessing dilemma. Will it hurt the printer? Void the warranty? The bottom line: Every printer maker makes a fortune on the OEM carts; they know it. Huge after printer sales brand name ink cart profits. Free market, of course. No govt interference. But there is, for drug costs, rightly so. Back to the beginning: It’s a very good printer. Canon Tech support: A-1. No long lines waiting for assistance; answer in a minute. Knowledgeable people, they know their product. Like Apple tech support. No word gimmickry, no ‘awesome’, no ‘perfect’, none of the “I can definitely help”. They hear something once, they got it. No annoying parroting repetitions of a question. The way it was, in more competent times.
- D. C. King2024-06-28Ease of setup and use
I do not write many reviews but was inclined to do so with this printer. I have not owned and set-up a printer since I owned a Canon MP620. That will say something to some. Then I had to use a usb cable hooked directly to the printer to set it up. I like this printer very much for ease of set-up and use. This printer is for home use for printing invoices and the like and probably a photo or two for my girlfriend. The set up on both laptop pc's went flawlessly following the instructions that came with the printer. This was not a freebie through vine it was a direct purchase from Amazon. That said it was a good deal with the price I paid for it. If it lasts as long as the aforementioned printer it will last for quite a few years. I cannot comment on the ink usage as of yet because we have not used it except on a couple of bills and one or two photos. I have had good luck with Canon in the past we still have a Canon PowerShot A720IS camera which has and still does well for a PHD (push here dummy) camera. The printer is being used with two different laptop pc's that never leave the home, one is a fairly old HP laptop the other is a newer ASUS brand pc. In closing I would have no problem in recommending this for someone that is not PC literate or to a friend or another purchase for myself.
- johnny2024-04-27Good Functional Printer - Just what I was looking for.
The Canon TS6420a is advertised as black, but it looks more like dark charcoal. This is probably because the material is a matte plastic instead of high gloss. The touch screen is rather small and I wish it was larger to make fine print easier to read. This is not a fancy printer and the quality is reflected in the price paid. I have owned more elaborate high-end color printers from Epson and Canon. They served their purpose and became outdated over time. I opted to purchase this cheaper printer to print basic black and white. It has no bells and whistles and is exactly what I was looking for. The setup on my Mac computer was easy. I have not set up printing from my iPhone yet. The print quality is good and so far I have not had any issues from out of the box. I have not used it enough to know how long the inks will last, so that is to be determined. The price of the ink was expected at $46 for the Color/Black combo on Amazon. I hope that this printer will last as long as my other Canon printers.
