Good full spectrum light if the large bulb fits your fixture

Bought this because the philips dial a color temperature light has very poor color rendering and my past experience with kasa smart color lights was pretty good. The setup is about the same as the tplink kasa smart bulbs, app is about the same and it connects via bluetooth for initial setup before switching to wifi. The bulb reacts faster than kasa, must have a faster processor. The color rendering is good which is the most important part, the philips sucked the color out of the room, this has rgb leds so should be able to better fill the complete spectrum. Being able to choose the perfect color temperature for a room is the best part about smart lights, I really don't care about the other color features, and the ability to dim as necessary on any socket. The dim slider on the interface could be better, its almost hidden at the top as a horizontal line. Finally arrived at this product as the GE Relax 100 is very hard to find now on amazon for some reason, but that bulb was only marginal as well, not as bad as the phillips though. This bulb is a better value regardless, if you can fit it. That being said there are limitations, this bulb is a21 instead of a19, so its bigger and wider, In the picture its next to the philips and an old incandecent bulb for size comparison. Its made of plastic where as the bottom area of the GE relax bulbs are ceramic feeling and the philips is glass which maybe better for heat conduction for better lifespan, but then again the bigger bulb has larger area for disperson. There is a slight delay on turning on at the switch, and it does not support hardware dimmer switches, it just ignores them which is another downside. So if it fits its a good value bulb for pleasant color rendering, but be sure you know how big an A21 bulb size is before hand. A good value compared to the other over priced alternatives.

Excellent bulb that can work well with Alexa.

Positive note: the Cree bulb offers brighter (1200 lumens) options than any other smart bulb I could find. Our of the box, I had some concerns. No instructions or QR code for convenient setup. I downloaded the Cree software which offers good control from my iPhone but no way to save personalized colors other than adding them to a "schedule" within the Cree app. These schedules can be set up within the Cree app, but NOT named to be addressed by Alexa. Their is no way within the Cree app to name a color mix. I called Cree support and though polite and friendly, they couldn't help me and didn't think that Alexa would do anything but turn the bulb on and off in the last used color. I called Amazon support. They guided me through addressing the 20 different colors already available to Alexa. I wrote a routine for each one in addition to "light on" and "light off" and I was informed that if I could find a way to save a custom color, I could then address it by name. While the software that Cree provides is klunky and incomplete, the bulb itself was superior to the Kasa that I used to have in that it was much brighter when desired. It gives off the perfect illumination for our 16' x 15' TV room with no glare in the Turquoise setting. If they improve and update their app, I will add another star. I've only had it a few days and can't rate longevity yet.

    Stopped working - can’t reset

A power dip caused by a thunderstorm put all my bulbs into reset mode. They lost WiFi information. Tried to log into the Cree App so I could set them up again but my account was deleted. I created a new account, tried setting up but the bulbs will not register on Cree’s Cloud - it just times out. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it, tried manual setup. Checked all network settings. Nothing works to set up the bulb, and I’ve searched tirelessly through tones of not-so-helpful posts. I would NOT recommend this product even for my worst enemy.

Totally useless if you ever have to reset a router

I got this product hoping for a reliable, cheaper alternative to the Philips Hue light bulbs. They worked great for the first month or two. I had to reset my home router due to technical issues, and the Cree bulbs never worked properly afterwards. Initial set up and install was smooth, easy and flawless. I set my lights up in a bedroom, with some of them going up into a ceiling fixture and one of them going into a common desk lamp on my night stand. No issues with connection, no issues with signal strength. I did notice that the Wi-Fi management for the bulbs is run by some outfit named Tuya Smart. They’re clearly based overseas, not sure where, because in their online material it’s readily apparent that English isn’t the primary language. I really wouldn’t care about that if the product was reliable, which as we’ll see it’s not. I set up my account, got it linked up through Google, and all was happy for about a month or two. Them I started noticing one bulb here and another bulb there wouldn’t respond as quickly to commands, or just not at all. Signal strength is not the issue, although some of these bulbs would be putting up weak signal strength errors. I moved the router around, tested bulbs right next to it. Same thing. Ultimately, I tried to do a reset, and was able to get it flashing. Resetting the bulb and trying to reconnect has actually degraded the performance of the bulbs, as some of them will connect and then immediately appear offline, or just fail to connect completely. One of the bulbs has started to emit a faint blue light whenever it’s plugged in, even if it’s off. It doesn’t respond to commands at all. Quite frankly, the Wi-Fi management of these bulbs is horrendous. If there’s anything wrong with your connection, the bulbs simply won’t work and there are no ways to troubleshoot except trying to reconnect over and over again. It gives you no reason for a connection failure, so you’re stuck trying to do the same thing over and over with no real guidance on problem diagnosis. If you’re not fairly savvy about networks, these bulbs will quickly become an exercise in frustration. The function of the bulbs when they’re working properly is great. You can set up schedules, voice commands, change colors, there are great default scenes to use. Once you start running into tech problems, this product completely fails. Virtually impossible to troubleshoot as there’s no helpful diagnostic tools and written material is virtually non existent. Spend the extra money and get yourself the hue

Cree App is flaky but the bulbs seem to work fine - outdoor installation

The Cree app gets a 1 out of 5 but the bulb deserves a 4 out of 5 for value, brightness, and durability. Purchased 2 of these bulbs for outdoor, dusk-to-dawn lighting. I installed these bulbs outdoors utilizing the Cree Lighting app which is really the exact same App as Smart Life - these Wifi bulb companies really need to standardize on an app and leave it that way, rather than having users download separate apps that are really rip-offs of one another. Initially the first bulb wouldn't "auto scan" via the app. I had to connect to it via AP mode and connect directly to the bulb's wifi to get it to join my 2.4Ghz Wifi network. The 2nd bulb, lo and behold, auto scanned just fine. So I'd say setup of these bulbs is dodgy at best. I have a tri-band wireless home network which means I have to manually switch my phone to the 2.4Ghz band to configure these bulbs. Now for the dusk-to-dawn set up - this is where the App is garbage. If you click on the BULB and try to set up dusk-to-dawn in ROUTINES within the bulb interface, it will not work. Your bulb will not turn itself on and off automatically. You have to use "Automate" then create a tap-to-run "scenario" PER bulb, which is a royal pain. Make sure you set your correct location or the sunrise/sunset times won't set properly. Once the automation task has been set up in the Cree app for dusk-to-dawn power on/power off, it is fairly reliable. This is the same way that Smart Life works for automatically powering on outlets and bulbs. Cree should consider just paying whatever license they need to just go with Smart Life as a lot of outlets and other bulbs already use that specific app for setup. Once you've set up your bulb(s) in the Cree Lighting app, don't forget to link that app to your Google Home account so that Google Home can turn your lights off and on by voice command. The same applies for Alexa. Overall the bulbs are great, and it's nice to be able to control them via an app for scheduling automated off and on times. You can change the color of the bulb at any time, so easy to set a color depending on the time of year and holidays, or simply set it to red if you're opening up a Brothel.

    They are larger than normal

These lamps with very well. Very bright, and the red isn't to dim to be useful, like some other lights I've used. Connectivity is simple enough. Just be careful with the size, as these are (much?) larger than an A19 lamp, and as a result may not fit your application. (Technically too big to fit in a bedside lamp, but I wanted the brightness, so I made it fit.)

    Works great

This works great and I love the fact of the great range of colors and dimmable lights. I also live the fact of a schedule you can use. I've left this bulb on all day on Fridays for RED Fridays from 0730 to 2130. I would give this a 5 star rating except while pairing the only issue I had was I couldn't get it to pair via Bluetooth. I was able to pair it via WiFi without issues though. I prefer Bluetooth because wifi can easily go out and of given the option I would rather connect via Bluetooth. However, this is a great product and would buy again or if I need more. Update: For the month of May everyday I put a green light on all day from at least 0800 to 2000 for operation green light for all those that never made it home. This year was no different the except memorial day weekend I used the 4th of July setting. I never had an issue I set up a schedule and no problems with the light going out or anything.

    Great Smart Bulb!

Great smart lightbulb. Takes a little to register and connect to a smart device (I’m using Alexa), but works really well after the set up. Plenty of color options and is bright. I haven’t used it a ton so I can’t speak to the longevity of the bulb, but a great product especially when on sale!
