Effective, and nice looking on wall.

Added to a front porch coach lamp to be able to control wirelessly. The Lutron system also ties in with the Ring system, so when my ring doorbell detects motion, it turns on the coach lamps without any need for the motion sensors on the lights...which for some reason uniformly fail after a year. I liked how the Caseta switches worked so well, I ordered 6 more to turn all the coach lights around the perimeter when needed. I actually didn't need the PICO remote that comes with it, but live and learn.

Lutron Caseta is by far the BEST system for smart home automation

Lutron Caseta is by far the BEST system for smart home automation. Some of you that post bad reviews about the Alexa-Lutron Skill saying it does not work or stopped working should maybe do your homework and/or UPGRADE your networking equipment. I have been using this system FLAWLESSLY for over 8 years. Most likely longer. Lutron Caseta is the best and the switches and the skill has NEVER let me down. All problems I have EVER had ALWAYS end up being user error or networking equipment that needed to be upgraded. Please remember EVERTHING only works as good as the weakest link. I am a Master Electrician and I can say with out ANY doubt that Lutron makes the BEST smart switches on the market and the caseta line is by far the best out there. Stop complaining and set your network up with High end equipment and you will be very happy. If you use old outdated equipment your system WILL fail.

    Not cheap, but worth it.

We have a switch in one room that controls the kitchen, we put up a barn door and blocked access to it, THIS?! Amazing, add another switch outside of the door now and good to go! So easy to install, setup, and use, A+ worth the extra money over other brands out there

    Great product, Needed Electrician

I spent a lot of time researching and talking to professionals about a good solution for setting my front and back porch lights to a timer. I ended up giving this product a try. I called their customer service before purchasing to talk through my goals, the representative was great and pointed me in the right direction in terms of which kit to buy. The product advertises itself as something a homeowner could do themselves. I am very handy around the house, but after opening up my switch plate, I decided to call in a professional. Both areas where we wanted to install the switch were in a box with three other switches, there was a lot of wiring to move around , including finding the ground wire, etc. I just didn’t feel comfortable taking four switches apart and risking messing something else up. It took my electrician less than an hour to install two of these switches for my front and back porch lights. if you can look at my photos you can see how much is going on at the switch location. If you had a single switch, it may be some thing you could do yourself. But with electrical, always a good idea to be safe. I look forward to setting up some schedules for these lights. The app is super easy to use. FYI if you want to use the app you need the bridge which is why I bought this product because it was like a starter kit. Again, recommended by the customer service representative. Just called Lutron and they can tell you what’s best for your needs.

Cut out a massive amount of work

This saved me a great deal of work during a rewiring project. I had two 3-way switches, one for lights at the top of a staircase with the second switch at the bottom of the stairs and the other for lights at the bottom of the stairs with the second switch at the top. The problem was, the staircase has multiple turns and the walls are all old plaster which is extremely laborious to cut and run traveler lines through. With these Lutron switches, I was able to hard-wire the switch closest to the light fixture and place the remote as the second switch on an existing 2-gang switch box at the farther location for both lights. This saved me a huge amount of work. Furthermore, although the sticker price for the switches is a bit high, for me this approach saved money because I didn't have to buy 12-3 Romex for the traveler line, saw blades for cutting plaster, and spackle and paint to repair all the damage to the plaster. It's also nice that the top button is always on and the bottom is always off for the new 3-way switch (minor consideration, but still nice). The switches have been operational for 3 months and work flawlessly. In short, a fantastic product and one that I would highly recommend for renovations where traditional 3-way switches might be difficult to install.

    works nicely

I got this to add a 3 way switch to a kitchen light. I couldn't get access to run a 3 wire cable to a 2d switch. This thing took 15 min to install and it works great. I have the remote switch on the wall next to another switch and unless you look close, you won't notice the difference.

    Minimal Effort 4-Way Light Switch.

My garage's overhead lighting was operated by two doorway mounted light switches (typical 3-way switch circuit). But I needed another switch at a third door location. I planned on pulling Romex cable to the new location and configure a 4-way lighting circuit. But I avoided doing that by using this Lutron Caseta Smart Switch Kit. What a time saver and it works great. I recommend using a qualified electrician, but the rewiring can be handled by an experienced DiYer. First I identified the switch location that connected directly to mains power. The main Lutron switch was installed there. At the other existing switch location I rewired it per the optional 3-way switch instructions that can be downloaded from Lutron. Finally, the wireless remote FOB was installed at its new location. No new Romex needed, it is wireless. The remote FOB can be used as a handheld control or mounted to the wall. I wanted it installed with an existing two-gang light switch. The cool thing about the FOB is that I didn't need to modify the new location's electrical box in any way. Instead, the existing two-gang switch box was used as-is; I only had to swap out its decorative wall switch plate with a triple-gang switch plate. I screwed the remote FOB directly onto the new switch plate then installed the wall plate over the existing switches. Everything works as expected, no surprises.

    Just What I Needed

I bought this to replace an old X10 remote system that I was using to turn on my outdoor light from inside my car. It had been programmed to use my car’s built-in garage door remote to turn on my front door light. Installing the smart light switch was easier than I’d hoped it would be. Then you only have to create a Lutron Home account to use it. The setup in iOS using the Lutron app and Apple HomeKit integration made it very easy to allow me to use Siri commands through both my Apple Watch and iPhone. I thought I’d miss the convenience of my car’s built-in remote to turn on my outdoor lights, when I arrived home after dark. This is even easier and way more secure. One thing I wasn’t expecting: If your car supports Apple CarPlay, you can use Siri right through your car’s steering wheel voice command button. I’ve been using it to tell Siri to turn on my outside lights. It’s way easier to do that, than my old method of using the programed garage door remote built into my car’s rear-view mirror. The limited transmitter range meant that it only worked when you were already in the driveway. This can do it from the other side of the world, if necessary and I don’t have to worry about someone stealing the codes from the remote to break into my home.

solves the problem of switches in old houses in strange places

replaced the switches in the bedroom, hall, kitchen, living room with the unit that wires in. These are remotes for the wired-in unit. Now I have a switch for the bedroom next to the bed. And a switch for the kitchen light at the door instead of at the sink. And a remote for each end of the hallway. I live in an old house where the switches were put in strange and inconvenient places. These units fix the problem just fine!

What I Should Have Bought in the First Place

Background; skip to next paragraph for details. I am retired from a career in energy conservation and control, with a specialty in lighting. I bought a home last year, and as I realize I am getting older and less capable, I decided to go heavy on home lighting control and automation. I already had extensive experience with Alexa-based plugs and bulbs; I decided to go to something hub-based to gain a bit more versatility in control, and to scratch my geek itch. I bought a Hubitat hub and both Zigbee and Z-Wave based switches, dimmers, and fan controllers. Most work fine, but, I ran into issues with one brand of product and ended up pulling it all out and starting again. Enter Lutron. I really didn't want to have to fuss with yet another hub and integration step, but having experience with Lutron from my working days, I decided to give it a try. I can't be more pleased! For those who do not plan on any home automation, their hub is not needed; just follow the instructions in the box. Setting up extra switches as in, say, a three- or more way system is so easy it makes falling off a log seem hard. I ran into a couple of issues on installing Lutron, but this is because my house has some rather odd wiring anomalies. All but one of the tech support people were they very height of courtesy and their knowledge of the products was first rate. One tech seemed impatient. Noo Yawk accent, interrupting constantly, and I could almost SEE him waving his arms in the air at the other end of the line! LOL But! The main point is, he also was highly knowledgeable and got my situation resolved in minutes. Lutron is expensve compared to other product lines, but had I to do all of this over again, I'd ONLY be using Lutron.
