Not for external use!!! Very finicky!!!

We have used this lock for close to a year now and I would not recommend - in fact, we are replacing them all (we have 3) as we are so tired of problems with it... First off, it is IMPOSSIBLE to install - it is a pain in the B*$@!!! It has to be PERFECT or it acts up - opens by itself, does not close, goes crazy... The connections inside are so sensitive and weak; any wrong movement and SNAP - it breaks!! The app constantly locks you out and you have to re-login (almost weekly) and even though we bought the "bridge" to be able to use wi-fi (no, you cannot use wi-fi without an additional accessory!!!!!), it STILL DOES NOT WORK HALF THE TIME. Then, lately, guess what, after endless calls to customer service (who will just tell you to re-install the lock again and again!), I was finally informed "the lock is not recommended for external use and it may compromise the controls"!!!!!!! It's like buying a fishing pole not suitable for fishing.... JUST STAY AWAY!!!!

Will not sync to Airbnb as advertised

I purchased the Igloohome Smart Electronic Deadbolt 2S because it supposedly would automatically sync with Airbnb. I had some installation issues which were solved with excellent customer service assistance...at least initially. It turned out that a mounting screw that was marked as “optional” in the installation instructions was really mandatory so I took the lock off, drilled a hole in the door, mounted the lock and it worked fine. Problem solved. My Igloohome app would not sync with the Airbnb app and customer service determined it was because I had used a different email address to register both accounts. I live several hours away from the apartment and it was heavily occupied so I decided to postpone fixing the syncing issue for a few months until the slow season. In the meantime, I generated access codes manually from the Igloohome app. That app was initially very slow and used to hang up a lot but I noticed that they have since released an iOS update that has seemed to solve the problem. Per CS instructions that I received months earlier, I deleted the lock, established a new account on Igloohome using the same email address that I used to create my Airbnb account, and re-paired and synced the apps. Unfortunately, the system did not automatically send access codes to new guests. I had to continue to send them manually. I sent customer service several emails that went unanswered. I even called once. A CS rep took my info and said they would contact me but never did. I was completely ignored. The lock is not without its advantages: **PROS: Sleek design. Perhaps the best looking lock on the market. Good battery life once I changed out the initial cheap ones that came with the lock. Bluetooth means if the WIFI or power goes out the lock will still work. Each guest gets a unique code only good for the duration of their stay. Self-locking. Can jump-start with a 9V battery if the batteries run low. Can use a key as a backup in case the lock malfunctions. The app is more stable after the last iOS update. The lock is reliable after 6 months of use. **CONS: Will not sync to Airbnb and autogenerate access codes and distribute them to guests as advertised. Unnecessarily lengthy 8-digit access codes. Because it is not connected to WIFI, if a guest cancels or you need to evict them, they will have the code for the original duration period, regardless of status. You could not block them from entering remotely but I believe you could remove access and physically sync the lock to your phone...but then you have to be present to do that. Incomplete installation instructions. Poor customer service. I think if my recent customer service issues were handled and my syncing issues had been resolved I might think differently, but the reason I initially selected this lock was that it was supposed to automate my check-in process with Airbnb. We are setting up a second Airbnb apartment and I will not be purchasing this same lock again.

Read through the installation instructions at least once before beginning your installation

This lock works fantastic for my personal residence needs. I don’t require the ability to change codes remotely. And everyone who uses it, understands how to operate. That being said, I would not recommend it for rental properties. You will need a more expensive and capable dummy proof lock. You can’t beat the price for such a great residential lock.

    Bluetooth keys inactive for guests

Tried it on a condo door and the Bluetooth auto-unlock is quite unreliable. Since that’s why I chose this product, it will be returned.

    Nor for exterior/entry doors

This line of products is great! It's their videos that show the lock in use that is misleading. Video shows it on entey doors to homes. It is not for entry doors according to instructions and customer support. They do make one for entry door at a much higher cost. It was sent back.

    Reliable and Smart

I recently purchased the Igloohome Smart Lock for my Airbnb entrance door, and it has proven to be the best decision I made after dealing with the discontinuation of my previous August lock. The August lock was no longer supported outside of the US, prompting me to explore alternatives, and I'm delighted with the quality and performance of the Igloohome Smart Lock. Having previously used an Igloohome padlock and being satisfied with its quality, I decided to give their smart lock a try. I must say, I am not disappointed with my purchase; it has been a worthwhile investment. After four months of use, I have encountered no issues, and the battery life is impressive. With 4 Duracell batteries, the lock still maintains over 90% battery life. One standout feature of the Igloohome Smart Lock is its wifi capability, enabling me to conveniently check the battery status and customize access codes for guests. This feature is a significant improvement over traditional algorithm-generated pins, ranging from 7 to 9 digits, making it much easier for guests to remember. Before purchasing, I had concerns about the wifi bridge's range, as my setup required it to be positioned farther from the lock. However, after reading reviews and taking a chance, I can confirm that the lock seamlessly connects to the wifi bridge even when the door is open at its widest angle. In summary, the Igloohome Smart Lock has proven to be a great buy for my Airbnb property. Its reliability, extended battery life, and user-friendly wifi capabilities make it a game-changer in terms of security and convenience. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and smart lock system.

Locked out of my house! Do not buy this lock!

Do not trust this company or their locks with the security of your home. I called Igloo technical support for help changing the time zones in the app for my Igloo Home Deadbolt 2S. Thei instructions made me delete my home, which also deleted the lock and they had the gall to blame me for the ensuing problems. I was locked out of my home for five days while I tried contacting technical support every day by phone and email, with no resolution. The app did not work, the code did not work and the physical keys did not work. I eventually had to pay for the lock to be destroyed, which also caused damage to my front door and spread dangerous metal shards into my home. 10 weeks later the company has still refused to issue a refund for the lock and has ghosted me. Stay away from Igloohome or you'll be locked out of your home with no support!

    Quiet and easy to use

I bought this to replace an existing Kwikset smartlock at my new house. I was annoyed with the Kwikset as it wasn’t very sleek, it was noisy, and I felt it was dumb to have two numbers assigned to each button on the keypad. My boyfriend has a nice Yale smartlock on his home that I like, but after I did a bit of research I decided to try the Igloo. I like that it is not wifi enabled so theoretically more secure, and I can have the app generate random passcodes and create bluetooth keys for guests so they can use their phones instead of remembering a code. It is also SO sleek! I love the simple flat rectangle design. The install was a little more complicated and more time consuming than I was prepared for, considering the simple design of the Kwikset I’d removed. The greatest struggle was getting the magnet aligned properly so that the lock can detect when the door is closed before it auto-locks; it is pretty sensitive on the positioning. It works superbly, now, though. The Kwikset simply had a time delay before it would engage the lock, so I was constantly trying to close the door with the deadbolt out, damaging my door frame. The Igloo is also much quieter than the Kwikset. I often leave the house at 2 am and the Kwikset was so loud I swear the neighbors would be able to hear it. The Igloo is so smooth and barely audible, with just a gentle beep to let you know the lock engaged. Two months in, and I still consciously love every single time I open and close my front door. I absolutely recommend this smartlock.

Good Lock But I have Reliability Concerns

I purchased two of these locks and was so happy with them that I ordered another one for the back door. The day the third one came in (three days later), I discovered that one of the first locks that I installed was completely dead and nothing I did would even wake it up. So I swapped in that third lock to at least keep what I had already installed going. I have yet to see how Amazon handles the exchange for a replacement. But I am optimistic. The Amazon app arranged for the return shipment with the replacement scheduled to arrive two days later. They promised not to charge me as long as I return the broken one. The installation requires you to drill an additional hole through your door. But other than that, the physical part of the installation is only slightly more difficult than installing any other lock would be. My thin Security door also required that I goind off some of the length of the piece that goes through the door that turns the lock device. The instructions confirmed that this is necessary on thin doors. Updating the firmware on two devices was buggy in both cases. I had to uninstall and reinstall the Igloo app and log in again, both times, to get the lock device firmware to update. With a call to Igloo tech support and some patience, everything worked normally and was updated. I got through to Igloo tech support within less than a minute, each of the three times I called. And they were friendly and solved the issue quickly each time. These locks are amazing. Once everything is installed and configured, you manage everything through the app. You know and control who comes and goes, and when they can and/or do actually come and go. You see and control it all from your phone. Replacing the batteries on the Deadbolt 2S is super easy. You don't have to disassemble the lock to open the battery compartment. If you get the bluetooth to wifi bridge, just be aware that the bridge has to be placed within only a few feet of the door to work. The bluetooth (not the wifi) is what causes the distance limitation. But the bridge works well if you place it close enough to the lock. It extends the range between your phone and the lock, from just a few feet (can't even sit on a near by living room couch to configure the lock without the bridge), to work everywhere in the world that you have an internet connection. If you are even average at working with hardware and technology, installing this lock and possibly the bridge as well, is not too difficult. It might try your patience if you expect to just swap out your old lock with this one. Plan for a half day or more to figure everything out, to install and configure everything and get it working. There were multiple times when I could have given up and just blamed the product for not working right out of the box. Now that I have it installed and working well, I am happy with it so far. Hopefully the reliability is good too.

    Amazing! Must-have for Vacation Rentals

Amazing product especially for AirBnB hosts! I was cautious since there were so few reviews but the features this touted stood head and shoulders above every other Smartlock I found on the market, so I gave it a try. I must say, it is great! (1) It saves me so much time and makes me look so professional by fully integrating with AirBnB and automatically sending out pin codes. I have experienced no glitches or problems so far. (2) It can be used with gloves! So convenient for when wearing work gloves or winter gloves. (3) The key pad is attractive. (wasn't sure about the modern black as my house is traditional looking but it looks great) (4) Auto-locking feature I like much more than I thought I would. The only time this did not work was when the sensor fell down and the person did not check to confirm the door was locked. I emphasize that you must confirm it is locked not just mindlessly rely on the technology. However I superglued the sensor when I put it back (instead of just using the adhesive it came with) so far no more issues with the sensor falling off the door frame. My only wish is that it integrated with HomeAway and/or Booking.com platforms. IglooHome has a competitive advantage now with their AirBnB integration but if another big lock company comes along and works with more hospitality platforms before Igloohome does, they could be eclipsed in this market. So I hope they get on this fast! it will also save me a lot of time. :-) Also I will warn or remind folks that, since the lock does not utilize WiFi, in order to make a custom pin code you do need to place your phone near the device to set a custom pin. You can remotely generate a random pin. Also you must use the pin code within 24 hrs of establishing it order to activate it.
