Camera worked well on google app. Unfortunately, will not work with ADT app unless you purchase same camera or doorbell from them. They will link you with virtual tech and add about a $10 monthly charge per item to your ADT bill. They will not monitor camera as this is an invasion of privacy. I understand. Then why the upcharge? Will seriously need to rethink my home monitoring system.

Super simple to hook into my Google Nest system. Love the face recognition and ability to control pushed alerts. Also really appreciate the ability to schedule and automate when and why everything comes on. I have 3 more cameras to hook up as well as a doorbell with a camera and multiple floodlight cameras. I did purchase the Google Nest Aware access today for $80 a year. This allows multiple extra features and 30-60 days of video storage. This is the 2nd camera of my home security system. I have my entire house Googled-up - from thermost, to light/lamp control, speakers, Wifi, doorbell, televisions, hottub, LED lighting, and soon to be a total of 5 cameras (and a lot more!), it is quite impressive to say the least. These features are especially nice in a 1970s home where all of your house lights are literally floor/table lamps (in the early 70s, not having overhead lights controlled by switches was all the rage!). Turning on 25 lamps multiple times a day becomes a miserable task. Wifi 120v power plug sockets are amazing! Note that the photo is simply a screenshot taken from my Google Home app at night with no lights on. The top camera is the Google Nest (no infrared) and the bottom is the feed from this camera with night vision turned on. The nightvision/infrared is black and white. During the day, or when the lights are on, both cameras have clear, crisp pictures with sound.

I am currently using this camera to monitor my sailboat interior. The set up was drop-dead easy, the picture is clear night/day, and it easily links up to my Google account plus Cameras webpage. Honestly can't find much not to like about this camera as with most all Nest products. They are a bit more costly than other brands but worth the piece of mind purchasing a quality product.
- Kenneth McFarland2023-06-06Great camera, terrible audio at times though
The Google Cams are typically pretty good and this one is no exception. The picture is clear and the detection is good. My main issues is with the audio on the cam, but that also may be due to the app as well. There is sometimes a delay when trying to access the cam. It'll tell you that motion is detected, but when you try to catch it live, it'll sometimes say this video isn't available yet. It's not a thing that occurs all the time, but the fact that it happens at all is disappointing. I use the cam in the house to communicate with my kids when i'm not home sometimes as well and the audio can be terrible at times. Sometimes they can't hear me or I can't hear them no matter how loud I may have my phone turned up. Also, the audio doesn't seem to work to well when you have your phone connected to a Bluetooth device like your car radio, and you are trying to speak and listen to things. Again, this could be caused by the app though. It would have gotten 5 stars, but because of this I had to take a star away.
- Michael WR2024-06-17Important issue with the phone used to view this camera
I realize this answer doesn’t apply directly to this camera, but please bear with me. The camera itself setup and worked flawlessly, however, that said, the huge issue belongs to Samsung, or possibly, to an App called ‘Zedge’. Confused? Hear me out… I love the camera, a bit expensive, but it works with the Google environment well. As a side note, there is a difference between the 'Nest' app, and the 'Home' app. It wouldn't let me set things up with 'Nest'. On to the issue, when viewing the Google Indoor Cam Gen2 using my Samsung S23 Ultra, I could not change the notification sound. I have other camera brands and knowing the specific sound of the Google camera which is pointed at our front entry, was very important to me. Sorry to be so wordy but this may apply to folks trying to use this camera. Come to find out, I could not change ANY sounds on ANY of my apps. After a lot of Internet searching, the problem boiled down to an App called Zedge, an app for downloading and installing ‘Ringtone’ sounds. Zedge, apparently switched a toggle in my phone that disabled my ability to change ring tones for all apps. It is a simple fix, but not easy to find. Here’s a brief summary, go to <Settings, Notifications, Advanced Settings> then click on <Manage notification categories for each app>. Downloading and using Zedge changed that toggle. To be fair to Zedge and to be honest, it was either an update from Samsung or Zedge. YMMV, however, now, all’s well in happy camp.

I've been using Amazon Cloudcam since it's inception, unfortunately Amazon has discontinued that service. I was quite happy with it, cameras had good video quality (all things considered when they first came out), performance was good, desktop viewing, easy to load recorded clips. Being forced to get a new camera was daunting, I did as much research as possible and chose the Google Nest cam. Yearly subscription and features seemed good, cameras were reasonably priced compared to Ring and came with the Google Home ecosystem which was promising. Got my cameras, installed them and then all the issues started. First, there is NO WAY to watch your cameras from a desktop browser, this seems extremely nuts for me, how does Google, a tech powerhouse have no option for this? For my Amazon cameras, I would just log into cloudcam.amazon.com and instantly watch all my cameras at once. When I'm at work it was an easy way to monitor all my cameras at once. But for Google Nest, nope, you have to watch from your phone. Not ideal when I'm at work and you can't watch on a big screen. I can not express the amount of disappointment this brings. Apparently before Google bought Nest you could watch them on a desktop. So disappointing. I placed my new cameras on the same spots as my old Amazon Cloudcams, they are reasonably located from my WiFi router and boosters. My 4 year old Cloudcams performed flawlessly from these locations, video streaming loaded right away. Google Nest cameras constantly refresh with a black screen and give me constant "Live video unavailable". So far owning them for 4ish days I get that message 90% of the time. Performance has been extremely underwhelming for a Google product. How can brand new cameras perform so poorly compared to 4 year old "obsolete" technology. You want to watch recorded video clips? Good luck, they take FOREVER to load. By the time they load your house has already been robbed. Clips taking up to a minute to load. These are recorded clips in the cloud, how can this be so slow? Again on my Amazon Cloudcam it takes about 3-5 seconds for a 5 minute clip to load. Google Nest takes up to a minute to load a 10 second clip. When the camera works (and its not often) the video quality is great, night vision feature is sharp, motion detection is also great. Unfortunately though the Google ecosystem is extremely subpar. Their Home app is also something to be desired. It seems so rushed and poorly designed, like a last minute "we need an app" situation. The lack of customizing where you want icons placed are also so so bad. As for customer service, I chatted them today trying to get help, I've been on the chat so far for 36 minutes getting the same copy and paste answers from their CS person. Took 20 minutes for them to get figure out how to get me to approve for them to get into my system. Going on 40 minutes they ask me for a screenshot. Big yikes Google. I want to like the cameras but ultimately I will return them all (I spent north of $500 on all of these). Maybe try the more expensive Ring or cheaper Wyzecam. If you're looking for an easy setup camera system with little frustration, these are not it. Update: over 1.5 hours with Google support and they seemed clueless. Telling me to uninstall the app, turn off the cameras, asking me what phone I was using, it was all useless. Most of them I already did. Anyway, all 4 cameras have been returned to Amazon. While I was on the chat for over 1.5 hours I researched other cameras and decided to go with Wyzecam. $99 a year for unlimited cameras, web browsing included, color night vision. Cheaper pricepoint on the hardware too.
- Wayne L.2024-06-22Not Nest compatible
Camera works fine and is easy to setup. It doesn’t work with The Nest app that I use for my home doorbell and thermostat. I wish I understood that before purchasing. You have to use the Google Home app instead. If I paid attention I would not have purchased.
- Cameron Bennett2024-06-06Used as a baby monitor in our nursery
We upgraded recently to one of these nest cameras, after using the 1st gen for many years with our nursery. It works great. The microphone works much better than the gen 1. Sometimes when the curtains are drawn mid-day for nap time the camera has a hard time deciding between night vision or regular and you can hear it flipping back and forth. I'm not sure if there is a way to fix it, but ultimately its not been a big issue.
- Jacob Mogray2024-07-01Easy to install, great video quality, even in dark
This was the perfect camera to add to my other NEST camera network. This Gen2 model has facial recogniztion that works pretty well.
