Shut off when it's really cold

Love these cameras, have some trouble some times with the software but on our phones but over all these keep a chard for a very long time and are really easy to pull down and change. Love the magnetic docking. Picture is sharp and clear and stay connected very well. Only negative to the actual unit is that they shut off when it gets really cold.

Finally an Outdoor Camera that Works!

We have tried multiple Ring cameras (floodlight, stick-up, and doorbell), Blink cameras, and Defender cameras, etc. and constantly struggled with connectivity issues during install. It took days to get the Ring cameras to connect after tinkering with our network settings. Which would be a nightmare for a non-technical user. The doorbell camera wouldn’t connect at all during install. Even after escalating to the most senior tech, Ring basically told us they couldn’t figure out the interference issue. The same installation issues occurred with the Blink camera out of the box. They were immediately returned and never used. We opted for Defender cameras which required no internet or Bluetooth connection. However, low video resolution and no remote access was the tradeoff. Overtime, the video quality degraded with the camera lasting 1 yr only. Enter Google to the chat! User set up was simple. It took 30 mins to mount and setup the camera outside. The design is sleek and feels like high quality. The video resolution is the best I have seen so far. Not to mention that the Google Home ecosystem has a WIFI Router that can be purchased if connectivity issues do occur. Also ensuring that the user does not need to reduce network security to connect the camera. The camera is compatible with WIFI 6. Why should a user reduce security to have security? This camera is a gem so far! Will help our family feel secure no matter where we are.

    Great cameras

Let me tell you how I see it. These cameras are worth the money and easy set up. You hear a lot of people say. “Well I don’t want to worry about charging the battery.” The battery last over a month if not more. Charging it is like charging our phone. Simple. Depends on the foot traffic it sees. And you can turn it off when you know people are going to be around. These cameras go off wifi. My detached garage is a solid 30 yards from my Modem on a second story home. If they can reach way out here and still have clear video and sound. It’s perfect. I have a back ally and unfortunately hard times, come more rough people. Another great feature let’s say you need to leave the baby up stairs for a nap. You can set it there and watch them sleep. Easy to carry around. Easy to place. Affordable. Picture quality amazing. Also to think in mind. ADT actually has a contract with Google nest. So don’t bother going through adt. Just use google nest subscription. It’s a win win.

    DON'T BUY! BEWARE!

Please DO NOT waste you time with this. You will NEVER get support when the cameras malfunction. I purchased these July 12, 2023. When I got the two cameras and the doorbell, I charged them and waited until July 15th for my son to come help me mount them outside in my yard. Everything seemed fine. Then it was time to charge them. I could get a step stool and reach the cameras, so I brought them inside. This was August 13th, around 4 weeks of use. I have them under the roof edge, protected from the sun and rain. For days now, I have attempted everything to charge them. NOTHING WORKS. Here are my main issues. First, I want to address my experience with Amazon customer service. The first person stated they would issue a return and I could exchange them. Great, just what I wanted. I felt maybe I got a bad batch of cameras. As she was starting the process, I was stating that I looked online for help. I seen a few forums talking about the issue but nothing resolved. She then asked if I would be willing to talk to Amazon technical support. Sure, I can do that. Maybe they have some experience with this issue. Talked with the next person, he runs through everything about what I have tried. I explain it says "offline" and even on the charger, it is not registering on my Google Home app. When charging my doorbell, it shows it as charging and how long until charged. Not with the cameras. I even removed them from my home network, did a factory reset, and still they show up as 5 days of charge left and will not register as charging. At this point he says, "Let me call this number for Google and see if I can get someone on the phone to help us and I can see if I can get you transferred to them". Great! Maybe they have an easy fix so I don't have to send them back. A few minutes later, he gives an update about still being on hold. He does this a few times. Great communication, I loved him checking in with me. Another 10 minutes goes by and he gets back on the phone. Now I already told him, I used Google to find a customer support or technical support number for Nest products and Google couldn't tell me. You are not going to believe what GOOGLE told him. So he tells me that Google would not allow him to transfer or connect me on the call. I had to personally reach out to connect with them. This technical person said they would not be able to give any guidance to him, or offer suggestions to try and fix this. WOW! SO he said they gave him a way for me to connect with them. ( support dot google dot com backslash googlenest ) YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. I explained to the Amazon Support person that I have spent 2 days on this same website and can't connect to anyone. You answer the questions and it takes you to a forum and question section where someone with the same question has been getting feedback about. Let me tell you this: If you have issues like me where your camera is offline and won't connect to your home network, or you can't get it to charge, you won't find anything here. There is literally no connection to this in the options given. Now you can search on Google and it will take you to a few places, but it won't directly offer you this as an issue to attempt to resolve. So the Amazon Support person said he would transfer me back so I can get an exchange or a refund if I wanted it. Now another person takes my call. She reviews what is going on and asks me "What do you want now?" Um, an exchange on the product. She says she can't process an exchange or refund. My window of opportunity ended yesterday. No it did not. I watched it on my end and it says August 16th and that is today. I tried for days to try and get this figured out. I need to send this back so you can send me out a replacement. Again she says no. So I walked through the process on my computer while speaking to her. I then said, should I hit the submit button and take it to my local Kohl's? I want to exchange, not refund. She puts me on hold and comes back to say she can't exchange, just refund. She was able to find another way around it in the system. REALLY? So in the end, I am getting a refund that will take 2-3 weeks. Normally it goes onto my Amazon balance and I can order it again right away. Not this time! It goes to my credit card, who is not going to process that refund right away and sit on it for awhile. I asked why it can't be issued as a credit on my Amazon account and was not given a "solid" reason. So I hung up and called back. Next person explains "Due to the high value item, it goes back to the original payment method. We do not offer exchanges with high value items". Interesting. Now I know where I will not be buying any "high value" electronics from. I will find them locally and purchase in the store. This is highly unacceptable customer service. Now I will not be able to have cameras on my home until Thanksgiving break because I won't have anyone around me to install them. Everyone is leaving for school soon. I can't climb a ladder and use a drill or power tool to install them. As for the products, my doorbell is great. The cameras were nothing fancy and didn't really help me see people clearly. I wanted to have more than 30 seconds recording when someone was in my yard. It defaults back to 30 seconds and the settings show you can have it for 2 or 3 minutes. I also did that subscription thing, which I think is probably a waste of money. After a few weeks being installed, I constantly had my cameras show offline, then they would show online after a few hours. Not worth the price of these things. My neighbor has different cameras, so maybe I will just look for something else when I finally get a refund. Amazon, you really need to consider your return policy. I can send back $7 glasses and get an exchange right away. Even weeks later. But have an issue with a "high value" item and you are treated like someone who cried wolf. Google, you really need to have a way for someone to contact you.

A Versatile and Reliable Security Camera

I recently purchased the Google Nest Cam Outdoor/Indoor Battery, and it has been an excellent addition to my home security system with a few considerations. Installation: Setting up the camera was a breeze. The wireless design and magnetic mount make it incredibly easy to install anywhere, whether indoors or outdoors. Video Quality: The video quality is superb, with clear and sharp 1080p HD resolution. The night vision feature works well, providing clear images even in complete darkness. The wide-angle lens covers a large area, reducing the number of cameras needed. Connectivity: The camera seamlessly integrates with the Google Home app, allowing for easy monitoring and control. I receive instant alerts on my phone when motion is detected, and the two-way audio feature lets me communicate with visitors or deter intruders. However, it's important to note that this camera cannot be added to the Nest app, which Google plans to phase out in 2024. This means existing Nest app users will need to transition to the Google Home app for full functionality. Battery Life: Battery life is decent but varies depending on the quality and motion settings. On high-quality video settings with frequent motion detection, the battery may need recharging more often, sometimes within a week or two. Adjusting settings can help extend battery life, but it may not last several weeks as hoped in more active environments. Durability: The camera is weather-resistant, holding up well against rain and wind. It feels solid and well-constructed, suitable for outdoor use in various conditions. Features: The intelligent alerts are a standout feature, differentiating between people, animals, and vehicles. This minimizes false alarms and ensures I am only notified of relevant activities. The ability to review event history and save clips is also very convenient. Overall, the Google Nest Cam Outdoor/Indoor Battery is a versatile and reliable security camera with excellent video quality, easy installation, and smart features. The app limitation and variable battery life are minor downsides, but if you are already using the Google Home app or planning to transition, this camera is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

    Neighborhood watch

Obsessed with this camera and flood light. The wired is the only way to go! The app makes it so easy to watch what’s going on when I’m not home. And the flood light is sooo bright. Love our google cams.

    Great Product ….

This is a great product, albeit a tad expensive for the technology … I bought this one as it is compatible with my existing systems. Installation of the device is straightforward and … once in place … it is reasonably easy to connect and integrate with your existing camera or security systems.

Easy setup and use, battery life okay

I love how easily these integrated into my Google hub and how simple they are to setup out of the box. Ideal if you have Google home already for most things. I have 4 of these and love them. The only thing is the battery. They're easy to charge so it's not that big of a deal, but if you're like me and want to have an event history for everything happening on your property, it will eat up battery quickly. I have 3 dogs, a 6 year old who loves to be outside, and an endless carousel of delivery drivers stopping by. So the cameras record a LOT. As a result, I usually have to charge them every 2 or 3 weeks. It's super easy to do, but I would recommend going with the wired if you're on the fence. I didn't want to deal with the initial install for a wired system. Honestly, if I had to do it again I'd probably still go wireless.

    The good and the bad

There are good things and bad things about the camera. I've had mine for almost 2 years. First off I would not recommend to use it as a battery-camera only, unless you want to be plugging the charger frequently. The range is not what thay advertise, specifically if you want to get the most out of the camera with best resolution and longer clip duration. I have mine connected permanently. One of the pros is the reliability of the camera. I think the sensors are good. I haven't had a single problem with false notifications. Face recognition is not the best but that doesn't bother me. Sometimes, it will mistake one person with another one, but not too bad. One thing I am very impressed with is the audio quality. Most times you can hear clearly what people are talking well over 20 yards away. Some clips are not long enough, even when I have set up the maximum duration and since I don't have a way to continuously record, I have missed a few events. I love the feauture of configuring different zones. The camera and sensors do a good job separating and recognizing different zones. I agree with soome comments about poor technical support. I have sent a couple emails to Tech Support and never heard back from them. In general it is a reliable camera that I have trusted my front yard and I have had zero malfunctions in the almost 2 years that I have used it.
