I had been looking into a water sensor such as this one for a while, hoping to avoid a problem. After trying some of the battery operated sensors, I discovered that in order to consume less power that their range wasn’t good enough. This sensor is incredible! It must be plugged in, but I wanted that feature. It was pretty easy to setup and really works well. If I had to point out any negative points, I would have to say it would be nice if it had its own App. All of the setup and management is done via the website using a browser. But honestly, I’ll take clunky webpages and great functionality over a fancy App and a device that does not perform well. I highly recommend getting this device over the more expensive, battery operated units.

Works ! i set it up (slight hiccup as the instructions are not very clear) , but fixed on second try . It signaled my phone on my several tests . Thats all you need .

I live in an area with a high water table so have a sump pump in my crawlspace. This device is an added peace of mind in case my sump pump should fail! It was easy to set up with my internet and the “test” worked incredibly fast! The text notification came immediately. This device will help keep me from having to go into my crawlspace—less often—to check things (which is helpful as a 65 year old widow.)

I think I am going to love this product. Just hooked it up and tested and it works! I had a water sensor in my crawl space that worked fine but it was battery operated, and ever so often it would start chirping because the battery was going dead and believe me, it is a hassle to have to crawl up underneath there to exchange the batteries. With this product, I can simply plug it in and get the same thing accomplished without ever having to worry about batteries. I immediately tested the product and within seconds, it alerted me via push notifications on my phone, very swiftly, and also sent me emails saying that it had detected water. Of course the emails were a little slower but the push notifications were almost instantaneous. Only four stars because I am not sure about longevity, but I have all the faith in the world it will exceed all of my expectations.

The alerts are pretty quick and rather than installing a mate sump pump I preferred alerts. Cost effective.

Works as advertised, and simple to set up.

After seeing different products from other vendors, including the need to subscribe for notifications, difficulty in setting up and getting alerts, etc., I was hesitant whether this one would meet my needs. The description about the product was very accurate and the product was exactly what I wanted. It was simple to install and setup. No subscription needed. As to how I am using it, I needed something that would tell me when the level of the water pool in my pool was below my desired depth. The video on the web site was super useful in showing how to switch from high water to low water mode. I found a spot around my pool where it would not accidentally get bumped. Under the railing of the steps into the pool turned out to be ideal. I enclosed the unit on three sides with a part of a plastic container. I mounted the top of the container to the coping around the pool which is always above water, with velcro. I ran the wire to a waterproof container thru a tiny hole near the top. That container sits on the pool deck under the railing. The wi-fi connectivity worked fine. The battery unit eliminated the need for any wires going across the deck. Too soon to know how long the batteries actually last, but I intend to really use this unit when I'm away so I can tell my house sitter when to add water to the pool, so battery life shouldn't be an issue. In the future if the control unit becomes waterproof that would make my setup even better.
- M and K2018-09-21Poorly Engineered
About the worst engineered product I have ever seen. And, I have seen a lot with over 40 years of electronic instrumentation design and development experience. The mechanical aspects are bad enough, being very amateur and flimsy. The AC adapter came apart the first time I unplugged it (not only super cheap, but also a shock hazard). The electronics packaging is flimsy, not what you would expect for the price paid. The sensor wire is short and basic with no outer sheath, and the sensor should be provided with a paper sleeve to insulate it from surrounding conductive objects. But, these are minor observations compared to the horrible software and user interface. When water is detected, your email inbox will also be flooded with one email every minute, and your text app will be flooded with a text alert once every 5 minutes. Three floods for the price of one! This will go on until you can get to an internet browser, log into an unsecured server, and turn off the alerts. You can set up a schedule for when you would like to receive alerts, but you cannot change the frequency of them. There is no mobile app available to control the device. If you are not getting water alerts, you can log into the web site and see if the device is on line or not, but you will not get any automatic alerts telling you the device is offline. When you log in, you can only see if the device is online, but not what the water detection status is. In other words, if you are not getting any alerts, this means either that there is no water, or that the WiFi connection has been lost and there may or may not be any water. You can periodically log into the website and check the status. If the device is online, then you can relax. If it is off-line, you're sunk (maybe literally). I installed this device in a vacation home to monitor a circuit breaker box that sometimes gets flooded with heavy rains. It worked for about 2 weeks, but now it has apparently lost its WiFi connection and has become useless. I'm pretty sure that if I were there, I could re-establish the WiFi connection by unplugging and re-plugging the power to it. But if I was there, I could just simply look to see if there was any water and I would not need this device. That's the whole idea of this product. It is for alerting you of water when you are NOT there to see for yourself or to hear an audible alert. Hello! I tried remotely rebooting my modem and router which did not bring the MySpool device back online, The WiFi and internet connection are working properly, as I have other monitoring devices on the network which are working fine. This tendency to lose WiFi connectivity is common with this kind of WiFi chip commonly used in "smart" sensors, and is a pet peeve of mine. If the device is so smart, even smart enough to know to blink a little LED when it looses connectivity, why can't it be smart enough to try re-booting itself once in a while???!!! I have communicated with customer service, and they say they are working on improving some of these shortfalls. I gave it 2 stars, since the device might be useful and acceptable for some customers' non-critical applications. I would return the device if it were not for the fact that I will not be traveling to the location where it is installed for a few months. Maybe by then, they will have implemented some improvements. Maybe not.
- Thomas A. Marcinko2024-05-20A great unit to save your basement flooding Float unit
I would have given 5 stars but in the instruction book, the letters could be bigger & clearer. I finally got ahold of a great Tech Support Edward who walked me through the setup. If the instruction book had been worded like Edward explained, it would have been great. I love the plug-in unit & I will never have a flooded basement because of a sump pump failure. I have a whole house power backup, so I don't worry about power being off. If you don't then maybe a battery one would work best for you. Both will send a text to your C.P. Also an Email to your email account Just remember to change the batteries once a year.
- Steven M Gust2024-05-20A basic water level alert. Perfect for a sump pit, and highly advised.
This unit is a basic water alarm. I used it in my sump pit to prevent overflow if the sump pump stopped working. It comes with a simple attachment to secure it to the sump pump pipe. I've tested it a few times and it worked flawlessly. Hopefully I will not have to use it in areal situation, but it is there if I need it.
