This remote is an amazing replacement for our old dead remote. We decided to go with an OEM replacement and I am glad that we did. Initially it was frustrating getting the new remote to pair, even with following all the instructions that we came across here in the reviews. Come to find out that we were missing one key element: having the remote right next to the Nvidia Shield console for them to pair correctly. Voila! Easy Peasy after that. I can't even remember which two buttons we pressed to get it in pairing mode (home + back, or select + home with one battery out and replace the second battery while still pressing those two, etc...), but either one should suffice once you make sure that you are very close to the console.

This is a fantastic replacement remote for older and newer Shields. Very solid. Uses standard size batteries, so no more running out of charge with the original slim remote. The higher quality rechargable Eneloop type batteries work great and make it easy to stay in business without throwing batteries away after one use. The back lighting is great and the remote illuminates when it is jostled. This is a nice feature if you're looking for it in a drawer among other items. This remote has more functions than the original slim remote, which is nice (fast forward, rewind and Netflix). The shape is good. Sightly awkward, but not enough to really complain about. The solid build quality is a huge plus. It's honestly a sharp remote design. Simple, but modern. The high build quality is obvious once you pick it up. THE ONLY HICCUP for me was that the remote did not want to pair out of the box. I went through all of the manual guidelines and also looked at some things online. No luck. Finally, I came back to Amazon and looked through the reviews. Another reviewer here provided the brilliant suggestion of resetting the remote -- holding down specific buttons while inserting batteries --which worked PERFECTLY! A big thanks to that reviewer! I was getting ready to send it back when I found their suggestion. Once I reset the remote, all of the things that weren't happening on the screen in earlier setup attempts were now working. Pairing took maybe 20 seconds. This replacement remote was well worth the price once I got it paired. It's a high quality, solid piece of equipment that feels like it will last a long time. Add to that the great functionality, and you've got a pretty fantastic little piece of tech that will elevate your Shield experience.

I held off on buying this because the original flat remote that came with my Shield was still working fine. Eventually though, it died (after about 8 years and TONS of use), so I went ahead and ordered this one. It's excellent actually. First of all, the instructions for pairing were pretty slim, and I wasn't impressed with that.. until I turned on the remote, and pressed a button, and suddenly it was pairing with my Shield straight away. So the slim instructions turned out to be accurate. It's literally the easiest remote pairing in history! And the buttons are great. I love the volume control being button based instead of the slider on the original. It was neat, but it was constantly being operated while I pressed another button, and that was mildly annoying. The triangle shape of the remote is also pretty nice. Fits in the hand well, and also sits on tables and couch arm cushions well. Overall, I should have just gone ahead and upgraded before my other remote died. It would have been well worth it.

I’ve had this in my cart off and on for over 6 months, I kept asking myself do I really need another remote. The answer YES!!!! I’m so mad I didn’t but this earlier, this has brought my old shield back to life. It’s super snappy and responsive and you can remap the Netflix button for example to open Kodi. The best part is in the middle of the night when I grab the remote the lights kick on, no more fumbling around.

Looks good, easy to connect to tv, good size, much better than the universal remote I was using. Worth the extra cost. Good quality

For those who are missing the mute button, you can press both volume buttons at the same time to mute. Remote works well. I've had it for 2.5 years, but it just died. I put in brand new batteries and it still didn't work. But it's good enough that I'm about to order another one.

Has worked perfectly. The triangular design allows for it to wedge itself into the couch cushion gaps pretty easily. 3D printed this holder and I'm currently trying to condition the kids to return it here when not in use. Set up of the remote was extremely simple. Even configured the volume for my sound bar, and the input controls for my Samsung TV. Fixed all the issues I was having with the old remote. My only complaint would be voice control is wonky at times. Press the button, the shield starts "listening" but doesn't hear anything I say. Press and hold the button, and same issue. Press the button a 3rd time and it hears what I'm saying. Just kind of weird how it happens sometimes. I'd still buy another one though!

I love this remote!! I purchased one a few yrs ago & after trillions of times of dropping it, it finally broke. I did not hesitate one minute to buy another. It's awesome ! It's easy to use; love the voice feature where I can talk into it to find a show or movie. I just saw a review that said with the Nvidia shield app, you can find this remote if lost. Had no idea about that. Another great feature. It pairs very simple & I love how slim it is. I say buy it !!!
