    Pretty Good Product

It's Got plenty of power for a basic 5.2.2 A little lacking on bigger 7.1 7.2 systems. Is Not Compatible with Samsung Tvs ARC will not work at all. Sounds pretty good on the 5.2.2 system I threw at it. No Preouts so hooking up an amp is a challenge. You need a speaker line in Adapter. Works well that way. Minus those 2 drawbacks hence the 4 starts it's pretty decent.

Very nice sounding receiver very impressed

About a month ago I ordered TX-NR5100 I was disappointed in that receiver and I send it back and then I purchased TX-RN696 I'm totally satisfied with this receiver it has more power than the other one plus this one has a phono hookup where the other one didn't so if you don't want to spend a lot of money but want a nice performing receiver this is the one to buy.

I can’t use a receiver that is still in the shipping box.

I haven’t been able to use this receiver since I received it because it is not set up yet. Receiver does not come with manual to assist with the setup. Called about this and I was sent a huge file that is difficult to print from home printer. I should have immediately returned it when I did not find any manual in the box.

    Sound and compatibility

I've always been a Onkyo fan and this was a great upgrade for my new projection screen TV . My older 7.1 Onkyo would not hook up with my new projector

    Great sound and power

It's important to do the firmware update. The newest update has a great logic to it and produces a much better sound.

    Sounds GOOD!

Admittedly it took me a little while to get a grasp of the manual and set up the unit. Then Sweet sound, the theater effect is captured and the remote is easy to use. I combined studio speakers with a Bose system that are all controlled and distributed by the receiver. The supplied mic contributed to balancing all the speakers. Sounds (pun intended) complicated but it was worth the time to sort out the options. Enjoy.

    Great receiver for the price

Replaces a "high end" receiver that was difficult to use and broke six months after warranty expired. Sounds just as good, easier to use and set up and has all of the features and connectivity that I actually use. Have had two other Onkyos which although now tech dated still work fine....one was made in 1976.

    Its good BUT

Missing USB 3.0 in 2022??? only 2.0 which is very slow to access hi-fi music. No LDAC or high-res Bluetooth codec in 2022?? No 10-band equalizer option, in unit or thru app. if you don't care about these things then its good. update: I was wrong, there is 10 band equalizer menu. But the receiver does not support hi res input thru Coaxial or Toslink/optical. When LDAC is activated in the external Bluetooth receiver, the music stops playing. I used different optical cables as well as different Coaxial. Its sad that this receiver cannot take hi res 96KHZ audio input, max it was able to play was 84KHZ.
