Before purchasing the Skymee feeder, i researched every web.app-enabled automated feeder i could find on Amazon with 4+ star ratings, and compared their features. Some of the things to look for in this category are: - fine control of the portion size - some have very small increments of 5-10g or 1/8 cup, while others only have increments of around 20g or 1/4 cup. My cat is on a diet so i need to give him a "little" less - widely configurable number of feedings per day - low/empty hopper warning - polished app that works every time with easy setup - reasonable hopper size, big enough to hold a decent food supply but not so big to be unwieldy. For me, 6-8 liters seems about right. - bowl and hopper easily removed for cleaning. - fully sealed hopper to keep the food fresh; having a compartment for dessicant is a bonus. - HD camera that's not mounted too high to see a small pet when it's eating; infrared / low-light capability is a bonus. - 2-way audio, motion sensing, and other advanced features are a bonus I initially purchased a different product, and couldn't get the app to work. Got ahold of the seller and was told that the developer needed to fix it - apparently a known issue, but they sold the product anyway! Re-reading the "5-star reviews" for the other product, it was obvious that most or all of them were fake. It's boxed up and ready to return. Then i had a friend tell me she had just purchased the Skymee feeder, and loved it. I checked it out on Amazon, and i'm not sure why it didn't come up in my initial searches, but i found that it had EVERY feature i was looking for, and more! The price is at the low end of the range of camera-equipped automatic feeders*, the app works flawlessly, and has a great range of configurability. Furthermore, the engineering and quality of construction really jumped out as being miles ahead compared to the one i returned. It's really thoughtfully designed, works perfectly, and does everything you'd want and more. Plus, i've got a bunch of cute pics of my hungry cat patiently waiting for his food, then chowing down! * One more bonus is that it's available with two hopper sizes - the 8L i purchased is plenty big for 1-2 cats for multiple weeks, and is significantly less expensive than the 12L that's also available, which might be great if you have a big dog, multiple dogs, or lots of cats! The fact that this is by far the longest and most detailed review i've ever written is a reflection of how very pleased i am with this product, especially after the disappointment of trying one of the other ones that *seemed* good, but didn't measure up in any way to this one.

this is a piece of garbage product. cant rely on it to feed your pet or even warn you when it doesnt. it looks cool and the voice and camera tech is cool but if you cant depend on it to feed your pet it is worthless! my pet has lost weight because it just doesnt feed him. stay away!!

I have had this for about 5 months now. I bought it at Christmas time as i would be traveling for a few days. I have 2 big dogs so i needed the large capacity this offered. It was a major struggle to get it to connect to my network. After about an hour i was finally able to get it connected. It seemed to work great. I left for my trip and a day into it, it sent an error and would not dispense food. I had to call a friend to feed them for the next two days. When i got home the door over the dispense area was open. Come to find out there are a couple optic sensors that got some dust from the food on them so it jammed. I cleaned the sensors, no easy task as the little door doesn't stay open. Once i managed to get it cleaned it worked for another day andthe same issue. I cleaned it again and it worked for a while and same thing. This is not a reliable feeder. Unless you are home to make sure it dispenses the food dont buy this. It will be a diet plan you didnt plan on subjecting your pet too. So this piece of junk has been given a new home in my trash can. I bought the Petsafe feeder, smaller capacity but it works amazingly well. I get notifications of the feeding and when food is low. Love this feeder. Buy ar your and yourpets own risk.

My new review on January 06, 2021: I bought another one because now I got 8 cats to feed. With the automatic feeding schedule on, the unit constantly says: "Dispense excessive food" without any food coming out. And when I tried to force food out by feeding manual feeding, it also says: "Dispense excessive food" without producing any food. I am sending this 2nd one back for a replacement. I am changing the review from 5 star to 1 star due to this problem. My previous Review: The unit arrived unassembled, but assembly is not difficult. The unit works pretty well. I can set up an automatic daily feeding schedule, and it also allows me to do a manual feeding. This part works well. For event-triggered by motion detection, It appears the unit can capture photos only. I have not been able to figure out how to capture video. I guess it cannot capture motion-triggered video at this time. The APP I use is an android app, which definitely needs some improvement. For example, the motion detection captured photo cannot be zoomed nor saved. I have not been able to set to capture video. Overall I am happy with the purchase and hope the supplier will improve its functionalities with its APP.

This thing was great for about a month. Then it stopped connecting to the internet (yes 2.4), the food would get jammed. If I tried to manual feed then I would get an excessive food message. I got tired of deal with it so it sat and collected dust for about 3 months. I decided to try it again yesterday. Nope, no luck connecting to the internet. I've reset the thing about 20 times with no luck. My husband and I both tried numerous times to connect it to the internet and nothing. I even disconnected it from the app and tried to add it again. That did not work because it won't connect to the wifi. However, the stupid thing will bark and dispense food at all hours of the night and I can't do anything about it, except unplug it because it won't connect to the internet. This ended up being a big waste of time and money. This was the largest automatic feeder I could find for our Dutch Shepard I'm so bummed it does not work.

I can't believe I paid over $100 for this. I can't even return it since I'm past the return date. I thought initially that this was awesome. I ordered in June. It has constantly getting clogged or not dispensing at all. I cleaned the sensors I tried everything I could. Support gave useless information on the issue. It also does not tell you when it is getting low or empty. Which is awful since you cannot see the level unless you open the lid and look. Another issue is that the food doesn't tilt to the front of the bowl. It piles up under the drop until it stops and doesn't give the whole portions. It even makes not difficult for the cats to reach the food since it is stuck so far back. The camera and microphone are great. That's about it. Highly do not recommend :( really disappointed

Sometimes the machine doesn’t work. I delete and reinstall the software, and the machine works. Customer service did an amazing job when I requested help.

These worked great for 3 days now they just jam constantly. Not worth the money. Don’t waste your time or money on these.

Have a 50 lb dog and the container lays more than 1 week. Love the camera quality and being able to talk to my pet when we are away from home. Easy to set up! Excellent product and value.
