Pretty much set itself up! I was reading the instructions and going through the steps and my Alexa said something like “plug one is now paired and ready to use”. Sure enough I said “Alexa, turn on plug one” and about 3 seconds later, it turned on. I also figured out easily how to change the name and set up routines with it. If I need more, I’ll defiantly buy more.

Works very well once set up and operating correctly. If your internet goes out you have to reprogram. No huge issues though and would recommend.

I bought another smart outlet and it was too confusing! I returned it and bought an Amazon smart plug--and I have been very pleased, even after months of use. I use it for my lamps in my living room. "Alexa, lights on!" It is SO easy to set up and to use. And with refurbished ones, it is a great price point. I recommend these over other smart plugs!

It was an OK plug. I found the smart feature of it to be difficult. I wanted it on for 10 minutes and off for 2 and to continue that cycle indefinitely. However, there was no way to make this happen other than to create a bunch of hourly tasks that manually had this programmed in. It is all irrelevant though, because less than a year in and the device has become unresponsive.

A friend had bought different smart plugs and asked me to set one up for her. Could not do it. Gave up. I brought hers back home and tested it here and couldn't set it up here, either. So I ordered this Amazon smart plug and it was easy to set up here, so I kept it for another light here and ordered another one for her. Had to remember to use the Alexa app to edit the name to the light I wanted it to turn on. This was a refurbished one and it is fine.

I’ve bought cheaper smart plugs in the past but they just aren’t as reliable and easy to connect as these Amazon Smart Plugs. These never disconnect randomly and are super easy to control in the Alexa App. I mainly use these for lamp around the house to schedule them to turn on/off on schedules. They are also great if you have a Ring alarm and when armed, you can have your lights turn on and off to look like you are home. I’ve got about 10 of these and recommend them for your home.

Easy to set up. So far better than the other brand smart plugs I have been using. Was expecting 2 day prime shipping. Took a while longer to receive the smart plugs for it could first travel around Northern California a couple times, courtesy of UPS.

GREAT little device... we got this to use with a floor lamp that had 2 separate bulbs, so just using two smart bulbs would have been awkward. It works great; just tell your Dot to turn it on, turn it off, even "Alexa, in 15 minutes, turn off Lamp #1". Use the Alexa app to set it up, and it works beautifully. You can even set up stuff like having it turn on at sunset every day. Should work just as well with fans or other appliances. Just bought a couple more to use with another lamp, and... the Christmas tree! ** ALSO ** I was a wondering what would happen if there was a power outage, or we had to unplug them for some reason... and as it turns out, nothing happens; when it's plugged back in or power is restored and your Dot takes a few minutes to come back on and reset itself, everything comes back on like before. Excellent gadget... We bought an Amazon Certified Refurbished, so it was a very good price with a full warranty... Bottom line, it just plain works. Can't complain.

Most of the Alexa-controlled devices in my house are Hue lights, but this was so much easier!? There’s no additional App to download if you already have Amazon’s Alexa app installed and use it to name and identify your devices or set up timing and automations. Simply plug this in, find it and name it in the app a few seconds later, and just that fast it’s ready to use with whatever appliance you want. Yes, it costs a few bucks more than some of the other smart plugs, but they almost all required a download of their own app also. But if you don’t mind cluttering-up your mobile device with apps you never use, then go ahead and buy one of the cheaper ones that’ll do the same thing. As for me, I’ll probably be buying a few more of these!

If you are looking around which deal is best for a smart plug. GET THIS ONE. I have been through so many of them and most of them are horrible and eventually don't respond. This one, responds EVERYTIME. Amazon did pretty good with this smartplug.
