- Jose Muniz2024-06-07Bluetooth connectivity can cut off and on at times.
I decided to purchase this due to recommendations from coworkers. I have not been disappointed as of yet. I read in the reviews that Bluetooth connectivity was a concern and I did experience some connectivity issues with the block on the same island as the thermometers. I was cooking sous vide at the time and it would lose connection randomly, but then reconnect. My cook still turned out accurate and on time so while I wish the connectivity was slightly better, I would still recommend for use. If you think about it, it is submerged underwater and vacuum sealed in a bag, and still connects. I have yet to conduct a long smoker cook and if I see any negatives, I will update my review. As of right now, this is a win.
- Pilotcop2024-06-06Multiple temp probes for 4 different cuts of meat.
This unit and temp probes with this unit works well with the app. It does take some getting used to but the app does a lot. I suggest you use your present meat temp tester with these probes until you get used to cooking with the meater. I tested the temp probes to see if the box would receive the bluetooth through the oven door as well as the air fryer frier door. It worked well with the box sitting very near to both oven and airfryer. The box's wifi is slaved to whatever wifi you are using. I put the box within a couple of feet of the temp probes. The box is able to pickup my house wifi from my deck outdoor kitchen. I can take my phone into the house and prepare more items in the kitchen and monitor all 4 probes. They tell the internal temp of the meat I am cooking, the target temp that I preset for each probe, and the ambient temp of the air around the meat, all on one screen for all the probes. The app will tell you when to take the meat off the fire. It is usually 5 degrees below the target temp. The meat temp will rise to the target temp as it rests off the fire. The meat comes out perfect.

I purchased the Meater Block for it's WiFi capabilities and it offered 4 probes. I like the unit, it is very beautiful, but functionality. Though I belive it is accurate to within 2-5 degrees of my Thermo pen. The Wifi Connectivity lacks. I am constantly losing connection to my WiFi Router and my router is only 20 feet away with No obstruction. And when it is on Bluetooth, the coverage is lost after about 15ft away. I believe the unit needs a Firmware update to address these issues, or I am going to have to go back to my TempSpike. It may not have WiFi, but I get 200ft coverage around my whole house with Obstructions. Disappointed since it is a high price point.
- Mr. Barnes2023-08-18Temps unreliable & back end support fails
I wanted to love this, I really did - unfortunately the inaccuracy of the probes & customer support is a failure making what could have been great now an expensive countertop decoration. The issue: constant connection issues (despite being <2 feet away) and temperature readings nearly 100°F off from each other. At one point I used an oven probe, an oven temp gauge, an instant read thermometer, another brand probe & a laser temp gun all to try to validate proper reading and found all MEATER probes varied - some significantly. The context: My wife bought this for me as a gift so by the time I opened it and found it to be faulty, the one month Amazon replacement window had closed. With WILDLY different temperatures readings and connection issues, Amazon pointed me towards Meater support. While the team was professional and courteous, I was tread more like an employed tech than a customer. Instead of offering to replace the unit, I spent the next month sending hi resolution photos to look for hairline cracks, systematically wiggling every part, resetting the unit over and over and over… all to FINALLY be told that the other probes “seemed” ok and that they would only replace one probe. One. Not the unit, not “I’m sorry, we appreciate your business and will make it right”, just “only send us one probe and we’ll replace it”. I guess I’m supposed to forget connection issues on ALL 4 PROBES and the fact that all temps varied. The nuttiest bit is they offered to replace the probe with the connection issue, NOT the one that reads 100° off. Result: I’m out nearly $400 for a unit I can’t trust to give accurate readings, I’m tired of going back and forth with a company that wants me to troubleshoot over and over and over again and on the off chance I do use the probes now, I always end up using an instant read thermometer to double check it. Such a shame as the look and feel of the unit is very nice. The app interface is one of the best ones out there & *if it worked* would likely be hands down the best on the market. That said, because of my experience and continued issues I will actively tell friends and family to AVOID MEATER PRODUCTS. Pics: the attached pictures show the variance on a single cook with 3 probes (this cook probe 4 decided to not connect) in the same piece of meat each within two inches of each other. Business hot tip: Products fail. It happens and isn’t a big deal **IF** you remedy it. Making a customer who just paid $350+ for a temp sensor do the legwork for your own employees and then leave them with a half working unit is just ridiculous and a hot path towards a failing business. Final thought: Look elsewhere Amazon shopper - you don’t want this.
- Gregorio Saccone2022-12-08Has performed well, but some usability issues
I have used wired thermometers and have found them to be clumsy and less than ideal. I love the idea of having a wireless thermometer to help me get my meals right - I'm not the best cook in the world. The reason I went with the Meater is because I often cook for more than 2 people who like their meat/fish cooked differently and so needed a device with more than 1 or 2 probes. There were others I considered for various reasons but was not clear on how many probes could be connected so I opted for this one. The GOOD: so far it has been right on with getting the meals cooked just right. I tested from medium rare to well done and each one has been done correctly whether meat or fish. So, in terms of improving my ability to serve the food the way it's requested it's been great and has helped improve my game. It also predicts the estimated cook time, including the resting time after taking it out. The first estimate has proven to be pretty accurate and rarely changes the estimate during cooking. The software is also pretty simple and straightforward as long as everything is "cooking" without issues. When there are issues, such as a lost signal, it is less intuitive on how to remedy the situation. The NOT-SO-GOOD: The probes are quite thick and for thinner cuts of meat/fish will probably be less reliable. I had some thinner cuts of salmon that came out right, but I had to be very careful with the probe placement. They are also a bit long and need to be placed fairly deep, so for meat/fish that doesn't have at least a 4-inch width the tip of the probe may be too close to the surface of the opposite side leading to less reliable results, if that makes sense. Some of the other manufacturers have slimmer and shorter probes which I would prefer. The FRUSTRATING: The probes connect to the "meat block" via Bluetooth (BT), which in my experience has a functional range of 10-15 feet max. Then the "meat block" can use your Wifi to connect to your phone and keep you posted on the progress of the cooking. This works well, as long as all of your probes are in cuts of meat/fish that are close to the BT enabled "meat block". However, if you are grilling something outdoors, and baking or frying something indoors there is a fair chance the "meat block" won't be in BT range of all of the probes and you'll have connection issues - which is the bane of this device's existence. Once you lose connection the estimated cook time is lost as are the updates so you're then flying blind. On at least one occasion when I relocated food so it was again in range of the "meat block" it was unable to re-establish connection and so was not able to estimate the cook time or send updates any longer. After that happened to me once I made a point of setting a timer on my phone for the estimated cook time just in case I lose connection again. This somewhat diminishes the benefit of having 4 probes. It might be better to purchase 2 two probe blocks so they can be monitoring food in different locations. Overall, I'm satisfied but not overly so. I'm tempted to give it 3 stars however it has led to successful completion of just about every meal for which I've used them, which is the whole point of the device isn't it? Hence 4 stars. Because of the aforementioned shortcomings I cannot give it 5 stars. I haven't decided if I'll keep it or try a different brand that has slimmer shorter probes that can combine 2 BT stations to have a total of 4 probes. Once I've figured that out, I'll update the review.
- Stephanie H. Bosse2024-05-31My husbands favorite tool and gift
The neater changed my husbands smoking, grilling and roasting! He absolutely loves it for precision cooking and buys them for all of his friends. Works on all fish, poultry and meat - in the smoker, grill and oven! Gives an exact reading, is easy to use and the range is great. Love it.

We have been using these probes for all our meats and they are perfect every time. Worth the investment.
- Amazon Customer2024-06-23Good product but……
Overall the functionality is great. Has a lot of great features to help you get the perfect cook on anything. My Only gripe is it loses connection between probes and the block often. I have the block literally inches from the probes and it still disconnects numerous times during a cook cycle.

I BBQ on a Trager grill and the Bluetooth only version of the MEATER as well as two other Bluetooth only probes I tried have a limited range of about 6-feet due to the thick lining of the Trager grill. This prevents me from monitoring my cooking when I am in my house. I also tried another WIFI thermometer which supports 8-probes but found the software to be so flakey that it would often hang. The Meater Block is by far the best cooking system I have ever used for the following reason. Packaging – This device is very well packaged and the wooden block is beautiful. I liked that they integrated a USB charging port as well as batteries but due to corrosion I would like to see them move away from batteries and just have a rechargeable one. Software Setup – This is so simple and only took a few minutes including account creation. Pairing to the block on my Samsung phone was effortless and connecting the block to my WIFI was also super easy. Software – The Phone interface on this is hands down the best I have ever seen. You simply hit the power button on the block and tell it to connect to WIFI which it does in a few seconds. I like that the LED on the block shows you the Bluetooth connectivity of each probe to the block and when you fire up the software on your phone, it quickly connects to the block over WIFI. My favorite part of the Software is that when you say cook, it gives you 6-options (Beef, Pork, Poultry, Lamb, Fish, or other and then many sub categories and then lets you determine how you want the item to cook (Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, Medium Well, or Well Done and it recommends temp based on safety guidelines. One of the things that sets this apart is because it measures both internal food temp and ambient external temp, it is able to calculate how long it will take for your food to cook. This is especially handy of you are cooking multiple things like a big roast and some chicken at the same time Hardware – The block looks great and is easy to clean. The probes and also stylish and very easy to clean. If someone asks, I do not know if these probes can be used in water like sous-vide or other cooking devices. Conclusion – Later this year I will probably update my Trager to the latest model that has WIFI support but I will continue to use these probes as they are amazing. I have never once lost connectivity to the block so that says something about the stability of the device. Aside from a rechargeable battery, my only other feature request is that the Estimated cook time calculation could be speed up as sometimes it takes up to 7-minutes for this to register but overall an amazing product.

Product works very well some connection issues if your not super close but trial and error fixed a lot of it would recommend
