    Excellent Sprinkler Timer

This is an excellent sprinkler timer. The best feature is that you can connect this to an app on your phone to control all the functions with wifi access at your home. You can turn your water on and off, set the schedule and a whole lot more. I needed a 6 station and a 12 station and I can view both of them on the same app too. I would highly recommend this product. And it's quality made.

    Support is in hiding

Cannot connect to the device for setup. No customer service number to call and no chat. They don’t respond to support emails in a timely manner. I have an irrigation company waiting to finish my upgrade. Had to order a different product and return this one.

Great smart system and absolutely OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

This smart sprinkler system is wonderful and, what makes it amazing and puts it at the top of list for me is the customer service, and I mean customer service that I didn't think even existed anymore! My town has water restrictions that are different than most (interval restrictions allowing watering only every 3rd day, which is different depending on the house number, and only during certain hours), which was not an option when creating a new water restriction in the program. I emailed customer service and got a response the same day (thank you so much Xi!!!!). Xi took the time and effort to research my town's water restrictions, ask me specific questions and then create the special water restriction just for my system. I cannot speak highly enough of the customer support I received. Just the fact that they have a setting for areas with water restrictions is wonderful as the manual sprinkler systems were so challenging to set up around odd restrictions and some of the smart systems do not offer this option that I could find in my research. As for the sprinkler itself, set up took 5 minutes or less (installation and linking it to my smart phone). When I first starting setting up the zones I set up a schedule as I did not see a smart schedule populate (or was simply messing with it before it had a chance to set up a smart schedule) so I set up a watering schedule. Doing this created 2 sets of watering that I later had to go back and remove. I guess my eagerness and excitement of setting up the system caused the extra effort but maybe a window or pop-up to notify the user that a smart schedule will be created and/or a notification that a smart schedule has been created would be beneficial. The only other thing I found was that I had to play with the settings for a little while after my 2'x10' strip of lawn got 30 minutes of watering to figure out that there is an option to set the square footage of each zone so a smaller sized zone doesn't get the same amount of water as the larger zones as the location of this setting is not in a place I would have originally thought to look. Now that I know it is in the advanced settings within the schedule preference it was easily modified. I would recommend to the company that this be a part of the initial setup process or locating somewhere more prominently than within the schedule itself. I also had one incidence where I manually stopped the watering but the sprinklers did not respond (they continued to water despite the system saying they were off). I was able to fix the issue with a little more playing (I turned on a manual schedule and then turned that off and that fixed the problem). I cannot say if this issue was the system or a side effect of my playing with the schedule though so can in no way fault the smart system for that. I look forward to many years of watering that I don't even have to think about and am really excited to receive the 2 sensors I pre-ordered to complete my system and make the most of this smart sprinkler system, especially since I live in an area where water is almost more expensive than gold!

    Awesome little device

I recently replaced an older rain bird control panel with this little guy. I can't say enough great things about it: 1) Installation was simple. It took me longer to find a drill bit to mount it than it did to hang and wire it. 2) The installation quick start guide was well written and easy to follow. Each step worked exactly like it should. 3) The app is extremely intuitive and has tons of flexibility. 4) The fact that my programs are stored in the cloud is SO much better than when it was on the device. Power would go out, and of course the 9V battery in my old unit would be weak, so I'd have to turn the dial and set each zone, etc...no more! 5) the app also gives you tons of data on how much you've watered and the moisture in the soil. 6) the price. I don't understand how this is so much less expensive than other smartphone controlled units. I had to keep rereading the description about what the device does because I couldn't believe what I was getting for my money. 7) Alexa enabling work flawlessly...I can't think of when I would use it except if I wanted to turn a zone off or on manually, but it was easy to set up. I've put this through the ringer, and I can't really find anything I dislike about it! Great Product.

Amazingly easy to set up and use...love it

My 20+ year old original toro box finally met its maker. I tried stepping into some new technology here, albeit with some reservations around performance and complexity. This product was so quick and easy to set up, directions were well written and easy to follow. No problems connecting to my wifi, and within 30 minutes of starting the install process, I was manually operating zones from my phone while standing in my driveway. Programing zones and watering cycles was pretty easy, lots of options, and very intuitive I thought.

Take time to learn the app

This was super easy to install. It's pretty straight forward. Take a pic of the old one, then put the wires in the new one and the same places that came out of the old one. This one has no screws needed to attach the wires. Press the locking part then slide the wire in the hole. Release the locking mechanism, and the wire stays put. Just make sure you have enough slack in the wires. I had to lengthen one of my wires. It was 1/16th inches too short. Go figure. I would have just lowered it, but the conduit that was in place for the wires wouldn't let me lower it. I will say this, the app has an abundance of information. It looks very overwhelming at first. The initial setup asked some questions that I didn't know the answer too, but with a few Google searches, I found the info. Once the initial App is set up, you will need to get the on-line manual and read it. Installing the hardware took less than 20 min, but learning the app took 2 hours or so. I first had to figure out what zone was where. Then I had to tell the app what type of sprinkler head is used in that zone. That was where I had to use Google. Once that was done, I had to remove all the factory presets before I could set up the zones for the amount of watering I need for each zone. The preset cycle has to run it's course before you can delete it. I'm not sure why, but it does. If you manually stop it, it will just start back up again. We don't get a lot of rain in the summer, so I needed to set up the preset's for longer water times in the summer and shorter in. The fall, winter, spring, and so on. You can actually set up a 4 season schedule where it runs longer between this date and that date, and shorter for this date to that. It also will look at the local weather and skip watering on rainy days. Pretty nice. Over all, for the price this is well worth it. Just to not have to remember to go out to the garage to turn on or off the sprinklers is awesome.

    Netro Controller is Great!

The Netro Controller is easy to install and use. I can manage my sprinkler system from anywhere that I have an internet connection with my Windows PC, iphone or ipad. I should have gotten one of these a long time ago. Love it!

Fun and easy, great customer support

I had this for months before attempting to install, which probably wasn’t smart, as the return policy went out the window. I had to have some sprinkler work done and kept putting it off through the winter months. Turns out I wish I hadn’t waited so long. Our old-school control panel was terrifying, as it was jimmy-rigged with a huge odd transistor, powered by an older type cut and split extension cord and large holes in the wall causing draft. I took pictures and video and sent it to Netro customer support. They were prompt and very helpful. Ended up not needed half the things from the old unit. Simplified the install. I now don’t have to worry about a fire hazard. It’s just sprinkler wires and a power cord. The unit itself is streamline and tasteful in appearance. The install instructions need one thing clarified. They don’t specify which side of the power cord line goes into which of two power slots in the unit. It made me worry thinking of wiring a lamp (I once did it backwards, not my fault the wires themself were marked backwards, ended up being a $300 electrical home fix) back to installing this, because it didn’t specify, and it was 9:30 at night, so couldn’t ask CS, I just hoped I was putting the correct side of wires in the correct slots. Hit the switch with a rubber pole, it was fine. Maybe it doesn’t matter either way, I haven’t asked. The app is pretty easy to understand. I chose to completely program myself, I don’t want to rely on the two weather app selections, they are never correct locally. Four apps & the news will all tell you something different. I would re-organize things in the app a bit better (might be personal preference) there are a couple things I found once and can’t remember where they were when revisiting to change setting - had to dig, but I can only imagine the makers will continue to improve, as everyone does. The timer/program has worked, on point, two days in a row. I checked with security camera just for fun. Saved myself several hundred dollars installing this myself (based on three local quotes) it was scary, but Netro customer support was a big help. Highly recommend this, especially if you live in a dry area.. you can flip the sprinklers on for a couple extra min a day when needed, even if in line waiting at the grocery store. Why not, right? I would share before and after images, but amazon won’t let me.. tick tick

So awesome I don’t have to monitor it

This smart sprinkler controller has been amazing! I don’t have to worry about it or program anything. It waters based on the weather, soil type, and shade level.

Give Rachio a run for it's money!

I used to have a Rachio in my old house and when I moved into my new house, I was saddened to see the outdated sprinkler system. So I was tempted to buy another Rachio. However, I ultimately went with the Netro for the following reasons: 1. My new house actually has two systems - one that's 12 zones and another that's 6 zones. That fit the Netro specs perfectly! Rachio comes in 8 and 16 zone models so now I don't feel I'm wasting zones. 2. The price was cheaper than the Rachio. Who doesn't like saving money? :) 3. My new house has watering restrictions where I can only water on even days (since my house number is even). It was great to see Netro hooked into the water authority here and knew that right away. Trying to water every other day with the Rachio was a little annoying because you can only pick what days of the week you want to water so you would always inevitably end up watering two days in a row (or skip two days in a row). 4. Netro apparently comes with a plant database and a separate "Wisperer" unit that tracks sunlight, temperatures, and soil moisture. I have yet to use these features but it's nice to know they're there. One pleasant surprise was that this controller was smaller than I thought. I had actually purchased the Orbit outdoor box to go along with this because one of the old controllers was outside. Turns out I didn't need the recommended Orbit box because this unit fit perfectly inside the old box I had (see photo). I just had to take out the old controller, which came off easily at the hinge and reuse the weatherproof box. I was so great that I didn't need to unscrew and re-screw anything. I can tell you there's no way the Rachio would have fit in there. So with that said, here are some of the improvements I'd like to see: a) It would be great to see have some manual controls on the controller itself. Right now the only way to control it is on your phone. There are cases when my landscaper might need to adjust something and to be honest, I'm not sure how tech savvy he is. b) The user interface can use a little improvement. I don't find it super intuitive how to create my own schedule. I find myself fighting with what the controller wants to do based on the weather. c) Better diagnostics. For whatever reason when I first hooked up everything, none of the sprinklers were actually turning on. So I had to take out all the wires and redo everything from scratch. And it worked this time. Shouldn't this unit at least be smart enough to know when wires are plugged into it or not? So if I want to turn on zone 1 and there's nothing plugged into zone 1 (from it's perspective), shouldn't it know that? d) Alexa integration. Like I said, I have two of these units. Alexa only supports commands such as "Alexa, ask Netro to water zone 1 for 5 minutes". But zone 1 of which unit? I can easily switch between units on the app but with Alexa, it seems there's no good way to do this (or at least not that I found). Other than that, the controller does it's job and I'm happy with it!
