- Beth Claire2024-06-23Pretty and functional
I am a fairly accomplished baker and also a professional make up artist so I was very excited about this bottled gold leaf. I knew it was synthetic, which is fine with me, but I’m somewhat concerned about the lack of ingredient labeling. That said, it does look and behave just like real gold leaf. Very fine, delicate and has that 24k gold shine. Looks and performs just like my normal gold sheets. I feel confident and comfortable applying this to skin but I’m hesitant to use it in baking because of the lack of transparency in labeling. I really would like to see the ingredients before I include it in my baked goods. Pretty and functional, I’m just going to avoid eating it without further ingredient information.
- pixelgrrl2024-06-21pretty gold flakes
These are nice quality flakes- just as advertised. The bottles are a good size so there is plenty of product. Depending on how you use it, one bottle could be enough to sprinkle on a few dozen cupcakes. At one point the flakes did not come out of the bottle as well but is remedied by stirring gently with a pin. The flakes eventually stuck in the bottle but could be due to high humidity - so something to consider. But can be remedied by gently stirring with a pin. Overall, the flakes are very cool to use.
- Mickey2024-06-30Is this really edible?
For safety reasons, I would recommend avoid eating these or adding to any cocktail until there's more detail as to what these are made of. I'm using these as part of my arts & craft. I'm making like a snowmobile and wanted to add gold flakes to enhance the "rain" effect when shaking so these are perfect for that intended purpose. It came with 3 mini bottles. Good sized flakes and they look "real". The color looks prestine and quite shiny.

When by itself, it does taste like nothing but the reason we have it for its beautiful looks and for that it is absolutely Perfect! On a cake, cookie, or pastry all you will notice is the rich 24k gold shine of this edible gold and the sweet taste of your desert. And I just made my first pair of resin epoxy earrings shown here with these gold edible flakes! So, they work for that application too!
- Val Anne Welch2024-06-20Just like real gold leaf
I would have given this synthetic gold leaf 5 stars, but lack of information about what they are ACTUALLY made of made me deduct one star. I'm a pastry chef and I've worked with real gold leaf many times. It's very expensive and you need a lot of patience when working with it. These gold leaf flakes behave exactly like the real thing and that's great. The claim is that it's edible and non-toxic, but I have no idea what it's really made of which would be nice to know. Gold leaf looks fantastic on plated desserts and that's what I intend to use it for, as well as some art projects since I do a lot of card-making. I put some on a cookie and ate it, so that I can make sure I suffer no ill effects before I put it on a dessert intended for public consumption. So please, if you're going to market something as edible and non-toxic, then be transparent and list the ingredients!
- THERESA2024-06-20Pretty and useful
I do a lot of cakes from home and wanted some of this for painting accents. My only concern is it does not say anywhere on the product bag and bottle that it is editable. Nervous to actually try it without that confirmation.
- Santa Jerry2024-06-22Great for garnishing desserts!
Want a fancy dessert, sprinkle it will gold dust. A chocolate cake with sprinkles or that special dessert you want to dress up, perfect for a topping.
- Michelle2024-06-20Very pretty
These gold flakes are a fun way to make your baked goods fancy! Just be careful not to go overboard with them, as they can change the texture of the food if you use too much. They can be a bit messy, but they really spruce up cupcakes or drinks. They don't really taste like anything, so you can use them sparingly. The jars they come in are great for keeping them organized. One downside is that the percentage of gold used in the flakes is not specified, nor is there any information like you would see on any product that is intended to be eaten.
- Kelly R.R. Ellis2024-06-21Beautiful flakes, light and easy to use, needs sturdier bottles
Overall these are very nice gold flakes, will be exactly right for baking up some of my fancier desserts. I don't like to use a lot at a time so these will last me awhile! Saying that, I didn't like that they come in plastic, lightweight bottles. When baking you don't want something like this to tip over and these are likely to do that. I will be emptying these out into a more sturdy container, hence the one less star than perfect.
- Jennifer L. Rinehart2024-06-28Probably Shouldn't Eat These
So these are not real gold. It says right there in the name; imitation gold foil. They seem to be made of something similar but not exactly gold. So for me, it's not a problem. I am going to use these in a couple of crafts, mostly as background in Thrifted art, so the crackly tiny bits are pretty great. It is a good idea to have some needle nose tweezers to work with these little bits of gold, unfortunately I don't have any, sob. So this was a bit more difficult to get the pieces where I want them and to keep them from clumping, but it all will work out okay. I just tried a little bit on some cardboard to practice.
