    Lovely color

I used this to stencil some velvet look curtains for my son's room. I had several small stencils of dragons and I was worried about stencing on fabric, but this turned out pretty good especially considering that I am not an expert stenciller and that this project included stencilling on a velvety soft surface, much different than the cotton duck that I have stenciled on before. Like all stenciling, you have to be very careful with the amount of paint you load onto your brush and with fabric stenciling, this seems to be doubly true because of the potential for bleed over. But i used a dry rag for spouncing and it turned out pretty good. This color of bronze is sorta antiqu and subtle, I think when the sunlight hits the painted fabric, it will show off a metallic sheen. Without the sun, it looks more brown than anything else.

    It’s actually black

This paint isn’t like the other fabric paints. It doesn’t have the glitter effect and is actually black. I used this to “repair” vintage camera bellows. It has a good rubbery finish to it and should withstand opening and closing of the bellows with multiple coats. Two coats was enough to eliminate 99% of pinhole light leaks. Mileage may vary depending on your own circumstances.

Easy to use, faded in the wash some on satin & taffeta

I had never used fabric paint before, and I was keen to give this a try. It’s a little different than regular acrylic paint in that you’re supposed to stir it first, and once dry, iron on the backside of the fabric for five minutes, then leave for a few days before laundering. I sampled this paint, in the copper color, on five different types of fabric to see how it would perform (clockwise from top in the photos): A good quality quilting cotton, cotton duck canvas, taffeta, a french terry knit and a thin polyester satin lining. It was pretty easy to paint with. As might be expected, it was easiest on the satin and taffeta. Those were the only two fabrics it soaked through, but it wasn’t a big deal. The copper color is rich and shiny. Note, on a knit fabric the fabric loses its stretch where the paint is, which is not really unexpected. The second photo shows the five fabric swatches after going through the washer and dryer and being ironed (except the taffeta didn’t go through the dryer because it got left behind in the washer, and when I found it it was already dry). The cotton, duck and french terry came out pretty much the same way they went in. The polyester satin and taffeta lost some of the details on the designs and lost some luster- the color on the white satin became more of a rose gold- it was a bit more yellow beforehand. I can’t say yet if the design will continue to fade with more washings. To do it again, I might try to stir the paint more and put it on a bit thicker. Conclusion: I was pleasantly surprised overall with the fabric painting experience and, for the most part, the results after laundering.

This is true artist-quality fabric paint.

If you haven't used really high-quality fabric paint before, you might think that the BLUEBIRD 6-PACK FABRIC PAINT IN PEARLESCENT COLORS is priced a little high considering the entire 6-bottle package comes to just over 5 ounces of paint. For paint that isn’t artist-quality, that would be true. This paint is nothing like typical craft store fabric paint. For fabrics that last, you need high-quality paints. This is exactly the type of paint you need to produce professional-looking, wearable, artist-quality clothing items that last for years.   This paint justifies the cost in a few ways:   *The quality is fantastic. *The colors are vivid and rich. *Once you heat-set the paint, it is permanent. (An iron on the back side of the fabric works well.) *It won’t fade, flake, or come off in the washer or dryer. *Your fabric stays soft and supple under the paint. *Light colors show up well on dark clothing and denim. *A little goes a long way. *The price is fair and in the same range as other quality fabric paints. I got the pearlescent set, and it is beautiful, but all metallic colors, which wasn’t what I was expecting. They do shine nicely, though, and they show up even on dark blue jeans. I was expecting pearlescent blues and greens, etc. I may have to order a second set to get all the colors I want.   If you want permanent, long-lasting, vivid colors that leave your fabric soft, these are excellent, high-quality fabric paints.

    Good quality, Good value

I ordered this fabric paint to use on the sofa pillow covers I made with a plain linen. I poured out a bit of paint onto a small plastic plate and, using a flat bristle brush, stenciled on a series of simple leaves. The covers turned out beautifully and I think anyone could achieve good results. The paint is a good consistency and a really rich bronze color. It does need to be shaken gently every so often while in use. After painting, I let the stenciled leaves dry for about 24 hours and then washed them on a gentle cycle and hung to dry. The paint held up very well. I can envision multiple projects where this paint could elevate simple items and my next use will be to accent some articles of clothing. This is a generous amount of paint that will last me for many projects and I think it is a good value.

I tested it on variety of spandex.

I tried this on several types of stretch fabrics as I am looking for paint for leotard type costuming. For all of them I applied the paint but did not heat set for five minutes as recommended because I would never hold an iron on spandex like that. After a few days I hand washed the fabric samples. Stretch velvet - I could still stretch the fabric with the paint. Anywhere it is too thick the nap of the velvet pulled the paint a little. It stood up to light hand washing but with soap I could scratch the paint from the velvet to a degree. Of course I would never do that in a typical wash. I would use it on this fabric again. Stretch power mesh - went on great, stretched easily. Did not wash off with gentle hand wash. Would use again. Solid color lycra - went on fine. Stretched OK. Stood up to gentle hand wash. Would still use. Metallic lycra - went on fine. Peeled off some when stretched. Would not use again. As for the color, the light gold was a little more coppery than I would have liked. But yes, I would buy this brand of paint again.

    Interesting paint

This paint has a thicker consistency and does not pour quickly from the bottle. I have a few white paint marks on a black top that I cannot get to come out in the wash or with other methods so I thought covering the white with black might be a good option. This paint is thick and pretty opaque and it covered it ok. After it had a few minutes to dry, you could see a ghosting of the white paint underneath and it still kind of came back after a few more coats. I ended up using some craft black acrylic paint and that worked a bit better. The paint also has unusual instructions - you need to iron on the reverse side for 5 minutes and then wait 3 days before washing.

    Nice Fabric Paint

I use fabric paint for stencils or painting designs onto fabrics, generally quilting cottons or cotton spandex. I tried this on Kona cotton fabric & it went very smoothly. It was easy to apply & had a good amount of color with one layer. I ended up doing two layers to get a really opaque application & that worked well. I heat set the paint with my iron & then washed the fabric. It held up really well! I have since washed it again & the paint still looks good. For the value, I think this a great fabric paint option that I would buy again.

    PRetty good

My review is for the BLUEBIRD Fabric Paint, Copper, 3.4 Fl Oz, Permanent Fabric Paints for Clothes, Furniture Upholstery I struggled to decide between a few of the similar shimmery/metal like colors, but found a swatch list on another website that helped me decide upon Copper. I got this to add small bits of glam / sheen to art quilt projects. On my first test, I have run it once in the wash on delicate cycle, after letting it set over 24 hours, and the color remains where I placed it. I'm not sure how it would stay if it was put on in large amounts (think "globbing it on" versus simply a light paint/wash of it on the fabric). I always wish lower-end paints like this are thicker than they are meant to be, so that's really my only complaint. I can solidly recommend this as you get a decent sized 3.4oz (100mL) for a decent price, and it has staying power when painted on.

    Decent coverage, works okay

I put this to the test the other day. I'd never heard of this brand before. The consistency was thicker than I expected, but certainly just fine. I had no trouble putting it on a tshirt. I was able to blend it with another brand of fabric paint without a problem. I let the shirt dry overnight. The paint seemed just fine. I didn't notice any "crunchy" feeling, so that was good. The size of the bottle was nice. I think I'd try another bottle from this brand.
