Reviewing Wrist Yarn Holder for Crocheting with Crossbody Strap, Portable Wrist Yarn Ball Minder Stand, Wooden Twizzling Yarn Organizer Storage Knitting Supplies Crocheting Gift for Craft Lover I'm very pleased with this wrist yarn holder. It is well made, no rough edges, and easy to assemble. I can knit or crochet on the go, without fear that my yarn is going to roll away or get dirty from falling on the ground. I wind my yarn into cakes, so it fits easily on the spindle, and I can use either a center pull or unwind from the outside.

I have two VERY light duty metal items designed to do the same thing but they only hold tiny balls of cotton for fine tatting and crocheting. This is a much more robust unit capable of holding much larger balls. It could even be used as a walking distaff if you want to hold your fiber while you spin on a handspindle. As such this item will be adored by RenFaire reenactors who can knit, crochet or spin while they walk, just as they did in the Middle Ages. Depending on the size of the core of your ball, you could install it onto this piece from either the top or bottom. Note that the bottom stud is easier to take apart and put back together (without the tool which is included). You've got the choice of hanging this item directly from a hook or clipping it on to either the very attractive wrist or adjustable cross-body straps. You could probably even attach both, clipping the long strap at both ends after feeding it through the center of extra balls, perhaps in different colors, taking your whole kit with you with ease. Note: Made from a quality hard wood with an attractive grain, the only thing I didn't like about this item was that one side of the base wasn't finished as finely as I wanted. I now suspect it wasn't the wood that wasn't sanded enough, it was a slightly sticky varnish that might have attracted a mohair or another especially hairy or tender yarn. In any case I had to re-sand and re-varnish the piece with only a slight improvement. Given another chance I wouldn't mess with it.

As the weather has been getting nicer, my husband has wanted to play volleyball outside more and we’ve been taking my son to the park more and while relaxing at these events, I’ve brought my crocheting with me. I have the yarn bag with the holes for the thread to go through but since the thread is in a spool and not a ball, it’s doesn’t roll well in the ball and the tension gets messed up. This yarn holder is great and I can hang it off the foldable chair, tent, or even my purse to get even tension during my crocheting. It’s very easy to construct and I was worried about the top screw would go too far in but it has a stopping point so I can be sure it’s tightened. The bottom with the ball I had to use something to grip the balls to ensure the tighten and I fear what if I remove one of the little balls to remove the flower base plate, it’s very easy to loose that little ball and then this may become useless. The wood finishing is a little light and a little porous though still smooth and shouldn’t snag anything.
- kelly2024-06-25would make a great gift
I could not love this more. I almost wish I could give it more than 5 stars. This is so handy and so beautifully, lovingly packaged. This would make a fantastic gift for anyone in your life who does fiber arts - not just knitting and crocheting but I think this could also be ideal for holding your spinning fiber. It's very pretty, it works exactly as you want it to, it's kept my yarn from falling on the ground when I tug too hard, it's a great way to travel with your fiber craft, and it not only has that wrist strap but it also comes with a matching lanyard in case you need both arms free and you find it's easier to hang this around your neck. On top of all of that, it was wrapped in pretty paper and sealed with a cute little sticker and it comes in a little box that is perfect for gifting. You can wrap it or not. I just absolutely love this and I'm so glad I got to try this. It's now a treasured part of my collection of most used fiber tools.
- ColoradoKnits2024-06-25Surprisingly Nice!
I have tried a few of these little gadgets - some particle board, some 3D printed, and then this one, that is a bit heftier than the others. That might not be great if you are carrying it around, but it isn't particularly heavy - just longer than some of the others. This came with a wrist strap and a cross-body strap - something I wasn't sure I would ever use, and yes, I did use it! I also used the wrist strap with a purse hook on a table, so the yarn minder easily turned. I'm not sure if it is the extra long stem or what, but this minder spun better than others I have tried, and worked well - I managed to knit most all of a sock during a work meeting, and no one ever saw the yarn!

Like most knitters, I take my knitting every where with me. Now knitting from a center pull cake sitting inside your bag is okay, but I recently started pulling my yarn from the outside to keep from twisting my yarn, but that meant having to take the cake out...stick my finger in the center to pull a measure of yarn and stick back in the bag because you never knew when your name was going to be called. No this does sit flat on a surface, but it is easy to lift out of your bag and pull your yarn if your cake is at the beginning, but I've also been able to have it turn easily in the bag once I've knitting it down. I seriously doubt I will be one of the people who you see walking and knitting, but it is a handy little tool to have, it's over expensive and it's easy enough to pop your cake off and stick in your yarn bowl.
- Weareborgswife2024-06-16Well made and lost ght weight
Comes packaged nicely and includes all tools needed to "build" the holder. I was worried it would be heavy but quite light for wood. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is in order to add yarn and remove it you have to unscrew a small barbell like ball off the end of the base.. this piece is small and a bit harder to use if you have any hand strength or dexterity issues
- Crystal Watanabe2024-06-12Cannot assemble
First, this thing took forever to arrive, like three weeks. When it finally did, the tiny metal rod in the top latch that you're supposed to insert into the top of the dowel was already jammed into the latch, and I can't get it out. I've tried using eyeglasses tools because they don't provide you with anything to work it with, and no success. I've tried pushing it out. Nope. I basically can't get the top metal loop into the top of the holder, so there's no way for me to actually attach the leash thing to the stand. It's unusable. Also, the thing is fairly heavy for something I'm expected to let hang off my wrist in addition to the yarn.
- JUngvarsky2024-06-02Works nicely once assembled
This is a handy thing to have when you can sit in your comfy chair with all your supplies in their perfect places around you—and maybe even then. The wood is all nicely finished and smooth, with nothing to snag your yarn. The finish seems permanent—none rubbed off on my fingers when dry or a little wet (which I did just to see if it made the finish bleed) or with a little hand lotion on. It works as described and keeps your ball or cake of yarn close at hand and away from any furry helpers. It also helps if you’re knitting on the go. I rated it four stars and would have liked to have given it 4.5–I took half a star for the fact that although it was carefully packed, there were no instructions. Although it’s fairly intuitive, I did have to look at the Amazon listing and use the pictures to make sure I was putting it together correctly. It does come with the tiny screwdriver needed to assemble it, though, so that’s a plus! All in all, I’m glad I have this.
- tfordyce2024-05-26Decent wood, cheap everything else
This isn't bad. The hardware and straps are both really cheap, and the little screwdriver that came with it to help with assembly bent out of shape just gently screwing the Dring back together. The screw didn't fare much better. The straps are really thin and easily damaged, but they do have the benefit of being soft against skin. They just won't hold up. This is a bit of a trade-off, to be sure, and I wonder if they intentionally favored comfort over quality, so I didn't knock a star for this. The wood itself is not bad. It's well-formed and properly finished. For the price point, the quality is a little less than I hoped, but overall, it does what it is supposed to and does it reasonably well.
