I was sure if I would like this, but decided to gamble on it. But I wondered how well it would fill the windshield top to bottom, left to right. How awkward it would be to put up, and likewise take down. How easy it would fold up, and how big would it be afterwards. Things you can only answer after you decide to gamble on one. And I think I pretty much came up all aces on this deal. Yes, it is more expensive than most of the fan-fold type, but I can confirm is it so much easier to install and remove by a long shot. The only three things I had to learn were: (1) you want to unfold it somewhere closer to level than windshield angle, and thing flip it up and into place, (2) you want to reverse that when you take it down, and (3) you want the strap that holds it closed to store to be at the top when you open, or else it will be upside down or sideways, not that you can't get a do-over. I can't promise it will fit every square inch of you windshield, but it does mine. Actually, it is complete top to bottom, but extra side to side. But turns out the side ends are very flexible, so they will curve in beyond the glass and along the windshield support columns. Which is just fine. I get 100% coverage plus. In place, combined with the black interior of the car I'm using this in, it suddenly gets pretty dark inside. As for folding it up, OK, so the truth is you will never get it back quite as neatly as the way it arrived short of spending half an hour. But like most compact umbrellas, it doesn't matter. Collapse it, grasp around it and roll it once to fold flaps down, attach the strap, put it back in the case. It is that easy. The case, BTW, is quite nice, and the whole thing closed and stored is just a bit bigger around but no any longer than a rain umbrella. So storing it in between uses is not an issue. Put it in the floor under your driver or passenger seat if no place else. If I had any concern, it is that the splines that radiate out to support the shade material might be somewhat fragile. Not seriously, but I'd just say don't get all Rambo on it trying to put it up or take it down and fold it. Probably pays to be a bit gentle just in case. Too early to tell how long this will last. But I feel like it will be more than one or two summers. If it eventually develops any problems, kind of like folding umbrellas eventually do, maybe time to get another. But I'd definitely do this type again. Takes up less space and way less hassle to put up and then put away than the fan-fold type. And that, for me, makes it a five star winner.
- Amazon Customer2024-06-21It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn close
There are hundreds of different windshields of all shapes and sizes out there, and when it comes to something like this sun screen, one size definitely does not fit all. Some of the floppy or accordion sort are adaptable to some extent, but when you insert umbrella spines into the equation pretty much what you get is exactly what you get. I just put mine in our ungaraged GMC Canyon, and mid-sized pickup twin to the Chevy Colorado, it fits very well. I'm guessing it would fit most SUVs and full-sized pickups as well. It's a bit awkward at first and can be challenging to fit around the rear view mirror, but I think use will streamline both the installation and removal process quite a bit. Mine fits well and its handle acts as a sort of 'kickstand' that holds the shade against the windshield with only very minimal gaps, in fact almost none. And since it is basically a very oddly shaped umbrella it unfolds and folds exactly the same way. Once folded it's very compact and comes with a protective sleeve. It bundles into a sausage shape about as big around as a beer can and less than a foot long - pretty compact for what's involved and easily stored in vehicles compatible with the shade itself. It's a substantial piece that's very different from the typical sunscreen and some may not care for that. But where others may only provide partial or disappointing results, this shade gets the job done right - provided it fits. P

Is this an umbrella? Yes, but for Heat Insulation Protection for your expensive car, not to protect you from rain. I really love this one. I have many different sun shades for my cars through the years, but they are clumsy, not easy to deploy and to close, take up a lot of space and unsightly inside the car when not in use. This particular one, just open it like an umbrella and when closed it's also the size of a shortened umbrella. This windshield sunshade uses a 5-layer Nano anti-UV coating to effectively isolate 99.9% UV rays to keep the car cool. During the baking summer months, this sunshade literary will prevent your car's interior for being like an oven and extend its plastic and leather parts' integrity. This is the best and most satisfactory auto sunshade I ever own. Highly recommend.

This review is for the Aomiker Car Windshield Sun Shade Umbrella - [10 Fiberglass Ribs] Foldable Front Window Sunshade, 5 Layers UV Block Coating, Heat Insulation Protection, Wind Cover for Auto Sedan, SUV (57"x32") I got this for my son's car (Equus) and it is just a tad too large, but it does the job. It's fairly easy to use and he likes the cut-out and velcro closure that goes around the mirror. It the Texas heat it makes a huge difference in the inside temperature of the vehicle. Once opened, putting the sun visors down over the umbrella helps to keep it in place. Overall, he is pleased and so am I. In a pinch I suppose it could serve as a rain umbrella, too.

The idea of this is great, an umbrella style sunshade that keeps itself propped open. However, trying to get it into the windshield is a pain! I feel like I'm about to take out a few things and would never try to open it while someone else was in the car. I have a 2021 Honda Pilot and it's just a few inches short on either side.

I really like this umbrella idea. It folds up into a small bundle when not in use. This works well with my SUV. I live in the desert southwest so I need any kind of shade screen that I can get. This pops open and fits inside the window very well. It has been keeping the car cooler and no more burning my hands off after being parked in the sun. I am going to get one more for my other car. Two thumbs up from me.
- Justin2024-06-26Wife Likes It
My wife wanted one of these when she saw an ad for it. I got this one and it is pretty good. It operates the same as a regular umbrella. Slide up and set in the windshield. It has pretty good coverage other than the corners. The backing spine does not really support the outer edge. It works as well as the soft cloth sun shades, but nowhere near as good as the thick foil style. I find it much more tedious to use, but my wife really likes it!
- S. Giuffre2024-07-02it's big - measure first
We wanted to replace our fanfold shade in our Colorado. Regrettably this did not fit as it's too large. However it just fits our Model 3 so we use it there. Works great! Easy to expand and contract and position. Visors up to place this in the windshield.
- Confidence Coach2024-06-19Not quite a fit, but it will work
Got this for a Mercedes E350 and it was a little too big, but it will work. The features that were the best include compatibility, easy of opening and closing, and a strap that joins the two sides in the middle where the rear view mirror is located.
- Lady Raven RAVE!2024-06-21Not bad
I have a 2012 Kia soul. This fits fine tight fit but it fills all corners. Today was 93 degrees but this also cool the car, opening and closing works well and happy with .
