- DJ2024-06-20I highly recommend this upgraded P2 model.
I have the P1 version of this surge protector and the P2 version is a much-improved update of it. Both versions connected quickly via Bluetooth, and for both, setting up was easy. Both devices run through a Smart Things app, but the P1 version never properly displayed the History feature. The P2 seems to have fixed this problem and I am getting useful readings from it. The replaceable surge protection module is another improvement over the P1. This feature allows you to purchase an inexpensive surge protection module (sold separately) for easy, do-it-yourself repair if the original surge protection module is damaged. Like the P1, the P2 monitors the voltage every three seconds and ensures both over- and under-voltage protection. This reasonably priced surge protector is very well-made and heavier than P1. It is made of durable, heavy plastic and comes with a lock ring to secure the device while camping. The company also offers regular firmware upgrades and a 36-month replacement program, should your surge protector break down. This is a quality product that provides not only peace of mind, but also useful data. I highly recommend this upgraded P2 model.
- BurtB2024-06-30Not bad for the price
The socket on my old EMS box was worn so I needed a replacement until I could get the old one fixed. I saw this P2 Bluetooth offering and decided to give it a try. The good: The price The design Clear LED indicators Good Bluetooth connectivity Reports power consumption, which is handy to know. It has some of the features of a full EMS. The main things lacking are over and under frequency alerts and power shutdown in the case of the frequency being significantly off the 60 Hz standard. At least I couldn't find any sign of that support. My full EMS does track/report the power line frequency. The not so good: As others have noted the display is pretty much useless in sunlight. You have to cover it and view from just the right angle to see what it really says. At night or in subdued light it is very readable. While you can use the phone app instead there are times where you might not want to have to break out your phone just to see where the voltage is at. Always concerned about no-name Chinese phone applications as you have no idea what data they may be siphoning off, so use your best judgement about linking with your phone. I did it with a separate tablet that is NOT on my main gmail account. I use that for devices and apps I don't fully trust. Those things aside this is a good value for the money, and I would not hesitate to order again if I needed to in the future.
- Tim2024-06-21Quality Smart surge protection for your camper
I had an old surge protecter that I used for our camper that was adequate but the plug was starting to rust and I was looking to upgrade. This surge protector checked the boxes of what I was looking for and I am not disappointed. The LED lights are easy to understand if you just want to plug it in and be done. However, if you want more precise protection, the LED display provides the supply voltage and the kW usage. My only complaint with the actual device is that the LED display is unreadable in sunlight. At nighttime it is easy to read but if you want to read the LED display during the daytime you have to block the sun so you can read it. The app is very easy to use to connect to the plug and provides even more details about your electric usage. I like that once you have connected the device to the app, it automatically connects when you are near the device. This is very comparable in price to similar surge protectors but I feel it’s a good value for all the info it provides via the app.
- B. Manchester2024-06-24Very informative at the campsites
With today's aging infrastructure at so many of the campgrounds the electrical supply is iffy at best. I have found varying voltage that could harm your electronics and this device will warn you of such. Voltage spikes as well as low voltage can damage your onboard electronics as well as your invertors. With this device you can easily monitor what is going on and allows you to control damaging situations. I would recommend everyone have one of these if you are not certain of your electrical hookup. The Bluetooth interface is priceless in my opinion.
- Customer Review2024-07-02Perfect if you have a travel trailer
Excellent Quality And Easy To Use. It Immediately Lets You Know If There Is An Electrical Service Issue Before You Connect To Your RV. This is a must have if you're anywhere that thunderstorms pop up as a lightning strike can run through your RV and destroy everything.
- Josh Kirk2024-06-24Excellent surge protector with a nice extra feature
This surge protector is a nice addition to our camper's electrical toolbox. The surge protector is bulky, but the size didn't affect the stress on the connectors as it hung from the campsite's power station. The LED display was easy to read, and the Bluetooth feature was very handy and provided peace of mind while we were away from the camper. This unit will definitely become our primary electrical and safety device while camping.
