Bought the 3 ft Hoodman to have a bigger landing pad for my new DJI Air 3. I also like having the bright orange color with the big H as it looks “professional”. It’s really not hard to fold back up once you watch the video.

I'm a relatively new drone pilot, having started flying in December 2020, and prefer to have a launch/landing pad to operate from versus rough-fielding it. Like many people, I tried to make do with cheaper/inferior designs, but the wind and terrain made that dicey at best. After reading reviews, and doing some research, I decided to order the Hoodman 3-foot landing pad. Cons: 1) It can be a bit fiddly to get back into the carrying bag. (Hoodman has a video showing the technique linked on their site.) 2) The shoulder strap could be a bit better. Add another 8-10" in length and possibly some sort of coating to keep it from sliding off the shoulder. (Note: I'm 6'4" tall so the strap length is likely to be fine for the average sized user.) Pros: 1) Exceedingly easy to set up. Pull it out of the bag and literally toss it on the ground. 2) Stays put in the wind. The weighted perimeter keeps it from blowing around without having to stake it in place. 3) Water-resistant. Keeps your drone off the damp grass and doesn't soak up the moisture like some of the folding designs do. 4) Highly visible from altitude. The safety orange, and the size, make it quite easy to see from a distance, especially from the drone's camera perspective. 5) Compact in the carry case. Small enough to keep in the back of my car so I don't forget and leave it at home. 6) Quality materials and thoughtful design. Unlike a few other pads I looked at, you can see and feel the quality and tell that the designers put some thought into this instead of just building a "me too" copy of other's designs in a race to the lowest price. This is probably the best accessory I've purchased for my drone so far. I'm not comfortable with launching from, and landing in, my hand, so the 3' Hoodman Landing Pad allows me to fly from locations that I normally wouldn't due to moisture, tall grass, and sand/dirt/dust. I ended-up getting the 3' version (versus the 2') for the extra weight and the larger "target". I fly a DJI Mavic Air 2 and there is plenty of space on the pad so you don't need to venture towards the edges and take a chance of clipping grass with the props or pulling dirt/dust into the motors.

I bought the Hoodman drone pad for my husband’s birthday. We bought the 3-foot diameter model, which is a perfect size for the DJI Air 3. The pad is very well made, durable and has a good weight; it stays put where you place it. We’ve used it mostly at the beach so far and it has been great for keeping sand away from the drone. Very strong, reliable, easy to transport, it takes seconds to setup, and it is very easy to locate when returning home with my DJI Air 3. I ordered the 3’ in diameter, but soon I will be ordering the 5’. Great tool to have if you are going to be operating your drone in remote rough terrain.

I have had a few landing pads in my years of flying and still use an assortment depending on the situation. But the Big Hoodman is King. Three feet of landing pad, surrounded by a weighted rim. Easy to fold back up, easy to clean off with a cloth. Great product, will stay in place during take off and landings- I fly M3P/Evo Lite Plus

This Hoodman Drone Landing Pad works beautifully paired with my DJI FPV drone. The pad's large size and heavy weight made it the perfect surface to take off from and land on when flying my drone. The bright orange color makes it extremely easy to spot when flying back home and looking to make a safe landing. And due to the landing pad's size, it nicely protects my drone from any ground debris and moisture, especially when used on grass or sand. I marked 'easy to use' down to 4 stars due to the challenging-to-master folding maneuver needed to put the landing pad back into its bag.

Would you rather set up a landing pad that won't budge in literally three seconds? Or would you rather sit there and pull a stake out and stick it in the hole on the landing pad then into the ground, then fumble around with the bag of stakes, pull out another and repeat the process for the next 2 minutes? Yeah, I'd rather set it and forget it in three seconds too. Bonuses: -high vis -weighted -super durable -compass hash w/NESW marks -water resistant nonstick surface tech so debris won't stick, if it does, just hose it off and hang dry, simple -loops if you really need to stake it down (if this is the case you shouldn't be flying in winds this strong) Not a bonus: shoulder strap. I don't know what happened here in ergonomics design. The strap is not adjustable and is sewn into the very high quality high visibility fabric of the carrying bag. Not a deal breaker, just a how-even? is everything else so well designed but then this? Its funny actually. If you're 5' 10" or above you feel like a giant. Just take it to your local seemstress/sewing shop and ask then to add an adjustable strap and they'll hook you up. Great product, worth the money 10/10

I purchased the 3 foot drone landing pad. It stays put when the breeze is stronger than I will fly a drone in. It is durable and comes in a good carry case. The only issue, which was operator related, was getting it to fold back up and fit into the carry case. I contacted support and they immediately sent me a video that made the process clear, easy, and repeatable.
