Looks great on the screen but not in person

I ordered this suitcase because it looked great on amazon, reminds me of my rimowa. However when i received the real thing the quality just isnt there. Initially was fine as i changed the code but then it stopped locking??!!! Good thing i tested it thoroughly before my trip

    Lock doesn't work properly

Has anyone else had a problem with the lock on the carry-on? The lock on the large check-in bag works fine, but the carry-on doesn't seem to want to lock when you need it to. It's hit or miss on whether it will even lock. I've already returned one because the lock wouldn't work properly, and now the one they sent as a replacement doesn't seem to work properly either. Is this a design flaw or do I just have really bad luck? It's no fun being on the other side of the world and taking her laptop out for security and then struggling like a crazy person just to get your carry-on to lock. Not cool. Update: I returned this and got a replacement. The lock seems to work better, although it's not perfect -- I lock it holding my breath every single time. I ended up buying a strap as a safety measure in case the lock fails in transit. They need to fix this issue. It's odd that it works for the large suitcase but not the carry-on.

    Excellent product

As someone who travels a lot, this suitcase is working out great. I travel internationally often and love the carryon suitcase,

Top Notch Carry On That Is Light, with a Cutting Edge Open/Close System

What can I say, Samsonite is not a brand that will ever disappoint. To this day, every piece of luggage I have owned from Samsonite has proven time and time again that they know how to make quality luggage. What drew me to this particular model was the zipperless design. It saves a huge amount of time over zippers and is super easy to use. If anyone is wondering how the seal is when closed it's definitely secure. One side has a very narrow channel and the other side has a thin rubber like gasket that essentially sits in the channel when closed. To open all you need to do is pull the latch from one side to the other and vice versa when closing. There are a number of hooks along the edges of where the two sides of the bag close on each other that hook into place when closed. Opening is a breeze but you'll need to make sure the entire bag is closed shut with no gaps/openings along the seam where the bag closes, otherwise when you slide the latch it won't lock into place. Takes a little bit of getting used to but isn't much of an issue. The bag itself is made of your typical PC material. Normally, even on a first trip with a new bag, there will usually already be lots of visible scuffs and scratches on the outside of the bag but this one surprisingly appeared almost new after my first trip. Very impressive. Setting the combination to the lock is easier than most as well. Rather than having to push a small button in with a pen, the reset mechanism is a switch that you just push to once side when resetting and pushing it back when done which can even be done with your finger rather than a pen. The inside of the bag is pretty much on par with most bags of the type. I had the carryon version. Both to top and bottom of the bag had zippered covers with pockets on them. Normally, you'd find a zippered cover on one side only. Kind of a nice add since having them on both sides keeps your stuff from just falling out when opening the bag up. The extendable handle is robust and comes out pretty far. The button to retract the handle is hidden behind a soft rubber material. Nice but not sure what to think of it. Wheels are super smooth and I had no issues rolling this around even on carpet. The only thing that found to be odd was that the latch slider to open and close the bag mimics a typical zipper that you would pull on. The problem is, the actual zipper pull part was missing after my first trip. Not sure if TSA was being rough with it or what but I would think Samsonite would build a better mechanism that wouldn't fall apart so fast. The good thing is I can still open and close the bag but I think Samsonite needs to rethink the design of the actual slider latch and make it more durable. So in summary, nothing but good things to say about this bag but it still loses a star for the one mishap with the slider latch.

    Looks and feels great

I travel a lot and needed a new carry-on. This one checks off a lot of boxes. Hard case, zipper-less, light (only 7lb), great handle, and strong wheels. The only thing I wish it had is compression straps on one of the sides. Otherwise, it’s great.

Love the features on this one...

I rate this Samsonite luggage as 4.5 (rounding up to 5) stars for now due to the quality and unique features that really pertained to me. I have not checked this suitcase onto a plane, train, etc. so I don't have feedback on that, but I've taken it on road trips and the performance was excellent. No issues with the wheels and no dents, but a few minor scratches. When it comes to the features, one of the first things I instantly appreciated was the no-zipper lock system. I'd never seen such a thing before, so I was amazed. This is GREAT, because not only does it make opening/closing the suitcase so quick and easy, but it also helps to ensure that water doesn't soak through the seam. Once opened, I was also impressed by the dual zippered interior compartments. This is so helpful because it ensures no content spills out regardless of how the suitcase is opened. Also, I can now dedicate one side to clean clothes and the other to dirty clothes, which is so appreciated.

Awesome carry-on, beautiful color. Samsonite quality all the way.

I have never had a hard sided suitcase but have a wonderful old set of Samsonite soft sided luggage. I was worried that this would be heavy since it was made of hard material but it is much lighter than my soft sided suitcases. The color is really eye catching and if you love blue like I do, it's going to be your favorite suitcase. It has a ton of room and is very large for a carry on. I have not yet had to fly with it so I don't know if I will run into any issues with the size since some airlines tend to allow smaller and smaller carry on bags every year. The suitcase itself has two separate sides divided with their own zipper pockets so that you can compress a lot of clothes inside and still get it to close. This also prevents stuff from sliding around and getting messed up when the suitcase is getting thrown around. The only thing that I am not sure of is the way that the suitcase locks and shuts. While a traditional zipper can be a pain, I know that it will stay closed and shut. This suitcase has a slide lock. A quick flick and it is locked and closed, another quick motion and the entire thing is open. Even if the suitcase pops open, as long as your side compartments are closed you shouldn't lose any contents out of the bag however I am still a little wary of something that seems so easy to get open and closed. Time will tell how this feature will hold up. The positive to this is that it is super easy to get closed and open quickly. Overall, this is a great carry on suitcase that is lightweight, great looking and designed with the quality and detail that I have come to expect from the Samsonite brand.

Solid carryon from a trusted brand

Size: This carry-on is slightly wider than most airlines would like, but it's hardly noticeable when held next to one that fits the guidelines. I think it should be accepted most anywhere. It's slightly shorter in height than other possible carryons. Since the luggage unlatches into two halves, you lose a bit of space to fitting everything into either half. Latching instead of zippers: This part threw me for a loop, I'll admit. This is the first piece of luggage like this where it didn't have zippers to close it. Instead it has a slideable latch that keeps it closed securely so far. Other features: Other things I don't see on every item of luggage are the TSA lock and the multi-adjustable handle that can click to many different lengths instead of just one or two. Overall I would recommend this luggage as a well-built option with four wheels.

No internal compression straps. Just a big box.

The locking mechanism works well and is simple enough. The zippered pockets that cover each half of the suitcase are useful, but there is no other type of built in organization. No compression straps whatsoever to retain whatever you might have in the bag. I would return this bag if I hadn't needed it on short notice. I'm pretty sure Amazon sent me a suitcase that had been returned before: - I couldn't register the serial # with Samsonite - the bag had a small scuff and corner crease bu the box showed no sign of damage Overall, not thrilled but I have to keep it because I'm crunched for time. Not ordering luggage from Amazon again. Ever.
