Lightweight, durable, sturdy UV protection. Sheds rain, too.

To test the opacity of this umbrella, I conducted the most obvious test: I opened it between me and the Sun on a crisp, clear morning, and strained to see whether any sunlight was getting through. And, no, I could see none. So it blocked all solar radiation, at least in the visible spectrum, and from what I know of the transparency of various materials to UVA, UVB, and UVC, little to none of that was getting through, either. “UPF 50+”? Yes, with emphasis on the ‘plus.’ My experience with reflective coatings caused me to expect the fabric of this umbrella to be, well, crinkly — loud — but that was not the case. Given its outer reflective coating, the material of this umbrella feels tougher than the bare fabrics I associate with typical umbrellas, but it remains flexible, pliable. That said, the material is a bit thicker than standard umbrella covers, so it does not roll up quite as tightly as it would if it did not have that reflective coating. Nevertheless, it does roll up into a neat, compact package. The ultimate test to me was whether I could collapse it, roll it up again, and then get it back into the little sleeve in which it arrived, and … yes, I could. I did. And it wasn’t the struggle I anticipated. In fact, it had been through open-close-pack cycle at least a half dozen times when I took the accompanying photo of it on my kitchen scale. When collapsed and back in its sleeve, I measured its overall length at just 11 inches and its diameter at 2.25 inches. When open, its central rod (including handle) measured 22 inches, and I measured its open diameter at 36 inches from fabric flat to the opposite fabric flat and 38 inches from fabric point to the opposite fabric point. Which measurements are consistent with the dimensions reported in its product description. The slight deviations I measured were likely due to differences in the precise points I measured from and to. For example, I measured the length of the extended central rod from an interior rib, not from the outer tip of the fabric arch. For what it’s worth, I consider the dimensions of this travel umbrella to be ideal for my purposes. I travel by bicycle, so am in direct sunlight most sunny days, and when not biking, I’m hiking. This umbrella is perfectly sized for such outings. I sit in my camping chair with the Sun overhead, and the shade thrown by his umbrella covers all of me. And thanks to the ribbon loop integrated into its short handle, I had no trouble attaching it to my backpack for handsfree shade while hiking. Its eight-rib design feels strong, despite its light weight. Winds out are currently ~15 mph as I write this, and it is handling that easily. I don’t know its upper limit, but I don’t deploy umbrellas in high winds, or anything else that acts like a sail, if only because doing so impedes my balance. Hope this helps. Clear skies!

    Love this!

I like that I can use this in the sun and the rain. The UV stuff inside probably works because I haven't felt like the sun was burning me under it. I'm not an expert so Idk. But it does work like a regular umbrella tho which is great! I love that I can push the button and it opens completely. That's always the best! I never have any issues putting it back into the little cover it came with. Exactly as pictured.

    Buena calidad

Un gran paraguas, el tamaño es el indicado y un excelente material, sería bueno hacerlo con una agarradera unos centímetros más larga.

Lightweight, opens easily, color selection was… confusing.

I was going for the lake blue color and received the pink instead. I think that might have been a problem when the product was initially listed and has likely been fixed. This umbrella is cute and works well. I’ve used it in some mild wind, and it hasn’t inverted. Folds down compactly to easily attach to a daily wear bag, or your travel bag. Perfect for rain or shine, as it cast a nice shadow. A great little dual use umbrella!

    Not worth the price

It's not worth what it costs, it's too fragile, you know it will break at any moment when opening or closing, I bought it with better quality in mind given the price but it's basically the same as the $15 ones

    It does the job

It's not my favorite travel size umbrella but, objectively, it does the job well. It's smaller as expected for a travel umbrella. Helps shield comfortably two people from the sun and, one person from the rain depending on how hard the rain is. There was some wind on the tournament day I took it with. It wasn't strong wind or anything yet it seemed to give this umbrella a hard time. Not sure what that was about. The idea of opening and closing the umbrella is simple enough. However, if you want to close it nicely with the button strap, it takes some work working out the thick creases. You can always strap it in without working out the creases and it will just look more or less like the picture I took. If I don't have the want or need to carry an umbrella that fits in my bag, I would not reach for this umbrella but my full size one instead. Still a decent umbrella.

Perfect for UV protection for my photography!

Love this UV umbrella. Have heart disease and the sun heat can cause tachycardia events. I’m a photographer of landscapes and need protection for myself and my camera equipment.

Heavy and sturdy umbrella works well.

Got this umbrella as a replacement for my run of the mill, lightweight yet sturdy and small  umbrella after it gave out after several years of use. This one is quite heavy and seems very strong, so it's good that it both opens up and closes at the push of a button. but once you close the umbrella, you still have to press in from both the top and bottom to completely stow it away, which, due to its heft, takes quite some force. While I got this umbrella for protection from rain, it is advertised as also protecting from the sun, and the claim seems credible to me, given that the top of the umbrella (look at the pics) is a very shiny silver. I used it today in the rain, and it protected me quite well, but I have yet to test it during a windy rainstorm, so the jury is out on how well it performs under windy conditions. There no wind vents, but I think this brolly will do just fine due to its sturdiness! (Will update review after more testing.) In the meantime, this umbrella, heavy as it is, is attractive and will definitely keep you visible in a rainstorm or protect you from the sun by reflecting away light and heat. I would recommend this to people who don't have hand strength issues, due to its heft and the force you have to use to close it. Verdict: 8 out of 10

365 gm 39" diameter even sheds rain

I thought I ordered the blue but got the pink. When I use it I hear lots of macho razzing. It weighs 365 grams in the storage bag at 39 inches in diameter. It is a foot bigger in diameter but 4 ounces heavier than my partners (225gm.) I will take the shade for the extra weight plus she has to "wear her's like a hat". The closed picture is after a month. Just find the snap and roll it from there. It still fits in the bag. I get to walk across a square mile of pavement from my parking space in Arizona to Mexican customs. I am ready to pass out from the sun everytime. Then I walk about 3 or 4 miles during the day. I take some meds that says "keep out of the sun". This thing is a portable shade structure. It is so light and small so it stays in the car and it even works in the rain.
