- Remington2024-07-02These are very nice soft D shackles!
I love recovery gear, both for off-roading and for when bad things just happen. Having the right gear for the situation makes all the difference, both in getting out of the situation and in doing so without injury. We've been using d-shackles for the longest time. They're heavy duty and they work. But, they're heavy, and if things break free these become projectiles. With the newest advancements in synthetic fibers we now have nylon rope that's comparable in strength to steel. Now we have options like these soft shackles. These are heavy duty. They come pre-knotted, all you do is wrap the shackle around whatever you're connecting, feed the knot through the loop, and done. You can now connect your tow strap to your vehicle, or your vehicle to the winch, without any additional metal (or time) involved. Not only is this way safer, it's faster. I haven't had to pull my Jeep out with these, but I feel they'll be up to the challenge.
- Fotodo2024-06-23Affordable soft shackle
These can get pretty pricey so I appreciate the chance to take a closer look at an affordable option in the soft shackle arena. I have seen SS even cheaper than this, but not by much… First off, I’m a little put off by the lack of working load rating (WLL - Working Load Limit) on these. Though I don’t feel the need to second guess the breaking strength they’re citing, the lack of WLL info is a big turn off. These do not have the refinement of the more expensive brands, that’s for sure. The synthetic fiber is stiffer than the more expensive brands and the protective sleeve is pretty sloppy looking without the stitched ends and just a wanky cut. Frankly , if you’re not doing a lot of snatching, towing, or recovery this pair would be just fine to throw in your recovery bag as “better to have than not have”. If you’re a professional or are doing a lot of winch work on the trail, you’re probably already looking at the top brands anyway. For me, definitely great to have a lightweight set of extra soft shackles!
- Awileyone2024-06-24Very light duty shackles- I don't believe the 56K pound rating!
I've got a few other sets of soft shackles from different manufacturers with similar load rating (56,000 pound), and the rope on those other sets of shackles is at least double the diameter as these. Nothing about these shackles really inspires confidence that they will hold up to real off-road use. In addition to the very small diameter rope, these shackles did not include any sort of weight rating info with the shackles when they arrived, the rope is frayed in several spots, and even the protective sleeve seems to be made of pretty thin material. Overall, I can't recommend this product, unless the manufacturer provides a more realistic load rating.
- freedom_cara2024-06-28Haven't broke it yet
Haven't broken it yet and i have been yanking on these pretty hard a couple of times. I like them for the reason of not having a flying metal chunk when they do break eventually or come unhooked by my abuse. For my use they have worked great.
- TRain2024-06-20Nice shackle set, but not as heavy duty as others
These are nice -- and nice that they come in a pair -- but my two key observations are that they don't seem as "heavy duty" as other shackles of this rating (I put this one side by side by another one I have and it isn't as thick) as well as the fact that the protective sleeve doesn't cover the entire shackle (as some others do.) You will need to take a bit more care in positioning this before you start your pull so as to ensure you don't put the strap itself on something that could fray/cut it. If you can get these for a good deal, I'm sure they will work, but there are others out there that are a bit more well made.
- Off-roading at the moment2024-06-28Not the half inch as described. Smaller
Not the half inch as described. Smaller Than expected. More like 5/16”
- Mr68K2024-06-22I don't believe the rating and lack of max working load
Reviewed: AUTORACCOON Soft Shackle - 2pcs Heavy Duty 1/2 Inch x 24 Inch Synthetic Road Recovery Rope (56,000lbs Breaking Strength) Tow Shackles for Sailing SUV Off Road Towing ATV Recovery I don't really believe this rating, but it is not really relevant to the safe operation of the product. This product should come with a max safe working load. Compare the pictures of a gray soft shackle 1/2 Inch x 23 Inch rated at 49,000 LBS Breaking. Note how heftier it is. Yes, it is almost 2x more the price but well worth it. Remember this friends, when this thing breaks the rope and anything attached to it will fly towards the tow vehicle at 200 mph.
- TurboRabbit2024-06-21Functional but by appearance, I doubt the 56k breaking rating
The shackle appear functional but appear no where as thick as the photo present the product. Compared to other shackles I own that are rated for the same breaking rating, these are much small in diameter. After stating this, I would still use with vehicle use just to pull from a non-stuck situation... like vehicle ran out of gas or something. With a vehicle that's stuck and putting addition strain on the shackle... think I rather error on the side of the others I own. With small vehicles like an ATV or golf car... no problem. Supplier provided no storage solution so either just toss in a box where you have other ropes and supplies OR go find a bag.
- Pablo2024-06-24Good Value
I don't have the means to put these straps to the break test that is claimed but they do feel smaller than others in the same weight class that I have used. I bought these to use for my side-by-side which is less than 2,000lbs so they will work fine for my needs. At this price point, they are a good value.
- KW2024-06-23Do not seem as "heavy duty" as other one-half (1/2") Inch soft shackles I currently own.
These AUTORACCOON Soft Shackles (2pcs) / Heavy Duty 1/2 Inch x 24 Inch Synthetic Road Recovery Rope (56,000lbs Breaking Strength) do not seem as "heavy duty" as other one-half (1/2") Inch soft shackles I currently own. And like other reviewers of this product have implied, I too have difficulty believing its claimed 56,000lbs Breaking Strength. In any event, I will keep these soft shackles in with my other recovery equipment as I feel there are far more inherent dangers in using alloy steel shackles vs "soft shackles." Two more items for my recovery equipment toolbox; time will tell as to quality and durability.
