The Solar Step Lights for Outside by JOFIOS, is a simple and very effective way to add stair lights without the need for wires or additional power. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying. I. Quality – These lights feel pretty solid and made well enough to survive the elements for some time. There not high quality by any means, but in the upper-middle level of the quality scale for this type of product. II. Installation – They offer two main ways to install, with sticky tape or if you want to lock them in place, you can use screws on either side. The antitheft locking is a cool idea that will lock them in place making it difficult and frustrating for potential thieves. However, one of the sides looks to be extremely difficult to remove because it would be hard to reach the release button once installed. III. Performance -They have worked great so far with a mellow bright that is enough to light the set sufficiently. The solar panels with 800mAh batteries are enough to provide sufficient energy for the night and the auto mode will make them dusk to dawn lights. This kit includes enough for 6 stairs, unless you want to go one light per stair which really is enough for you to be able to see the stairs you’re walking on. Make sure your desired path gets some direct sun, if you want them to last throughout the night. Overall, this was a great way for me to add stair lights to my house. With quality, convenience and performance they get me excited every time I travers the stairs at night and don’t have to pull out another light source like a flashlight or my phone. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it. I set these lights out for a few days, evaluating before committing. I like the clever design that allows you to mount them in whatever orientation is appropriate for daytime charging and nighttime illumination. It's summer, so of course they charge well, and keep going well into the night. I'll update my review next winter. As to installation, the provided stick-ons work well. Again, I'll update the review when the rainy season begins. Hanging them on the head of a screw is more problematic, however. There's an anti-theft button in the casing that prevents the light from being removed, once installed. If for example the mounting screw is not as far in as it should be, the light wobbles loosely. The mounting hole isn't aligned with the center of gravity, so it doesn't even hang straight. But if you have access from the side, you can unscrew a piece that holds the retainer in place. I ended up installing one of them in a second choice location, because I'm not prepared to commit to forever. There ought to be a better way.

The steps on my front porch are 10 ft from the porch light, and the screen door blocks a lot of the light from shining on the steps. I can't tell you how many times I have gone out front at night, and either missed the first step, or tripped on the first step. Dangerous. Since everyone goes to my side door when they come over, I don't have a lot of traffic to my front door. I don't need to affix these lights to the step, I just set them where I need them. Besides, I hose my steps off every once in a while, so I pick the lights up - otherwise the leaves get stuck around the lights. If the lights have sunlight, they will stay lit for around 9 hours, those that are in partial shade will stay lit for 6-8 hours. The light is much brighter than I expected too. The lights are small enough to fit in your hand, and won't be in the way when going up & down the steps - another important thing. Good little lights - comes with enough lights for 4-8 steps. They light the area enough to where you could even use them on every other step. I don't know why I didn't get some of these lights a long time ago..........

I've wanted to light my outdoor steps with solar lights for a while but didn't know until seeing these that such a design existed. The triangular shape is perfect to place at the very ends of the steps, catching sun from the upper side and emitting light from the inward-facing sides. I have three steps, so the six pack was perfect. I'm thoroughly pleased with this product and can't think of any negatives. Even the first day I installed these, with a few hours of sunlight remaining, they shined brighter and longer than the other solar lights on my back porch. They stay lit until at least 2AM, probably longer but that's the latest I've looked to see if they were still on. The other solar lights putter out by 9-11ish depending on the weather and sunset time. I initially set them out without the adhesive or screws just to see how they look. A week later and they're still exactly where I left them, even despite a strong storm. While this is mostly due to the design of my steps (there's a ~4 inch slot on either side of the railings where these fit in perfectly), at least some of it is due to the clever wedge design of the lights. I don't think I'll even need to stick them down with adhesive.

Well, probably not ALL. But I've spent a good deal of time trying to figure out the best way to illuminate some outdoor stairs. I wanted the lights to be really low profile so that they aren't too obvious. I wanted them to light the STAIRS and not shine directly into people's eyes. I wanted the solar panel to be facing the sky. I didn't want to have to damage the stairs to install them. I wanted enough to cover the whole staircase. All of these criteria are surprisingly difficult to hit in one item, but this product absolutely nails it. The design couldn't be simpler. They are sleek and illuminate the stairs, not the sky, and have enough light reach to make a safe path. They have a super simple on/off switch so there aren't a lot of things to fuss with. The switch remains accessible even after you install it (if you have open stairs--if your stairs run against a wall you might be out of luck!). They come with an adhesive that is legitimately strong enough to attach to the stairs. (They also come with hardware to screw them in, if you want to do that.) All twelve of them work perfectly--two needed to be charged when they came out of the box, but now all of them consistently work. They remain on all night. They are absolutely perfect. Could not ask for more perfect stair lights. 100 stars.

Our deck steps are great, but without any lights on them at night, they were too dark to navigate safely. I've searched for step lights for a while now, and decided upon this set. It's a set of 6 triangular-shaped lights that work either on the left or right-hand side, which was helpful for us because we have two sets of connected steps that needed to be illuminated. I used 3 on one side, and 3 on the other, and they are perfect! To be honest, I wasn't expecting them to be such good quality. They appear to be a good, sturdy weight and the light is quite bright. There's a large solar charging pad to capture enough light to power them throughout the night. Plus, they come with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty to guarantee problem-free lighting for a while. I am not sure how long the sticky pad on the back will remain so, but it had very good adhesion during installation. The lights also come with the option to screw them in place with several included screws, but we decided against that for the time being. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase!

The JOFIOS Solar Step Lights are a good choice for a garden path, walkway, standard-height stairs, shorter non-standard stairs, and it has many other uses. I tried to include clear measurements with a ruler to give a true indication of size since the photos in the advert gives the impression that the solar lights are slightly larger than they are. The solar lights are very lightweight so be sure to secure them well. It hasn’t rained here yet, so I am unable to comment on how waterproof the solar lights are or how well they tolerate various intensities of rain or storms.

I got these for our screened porch steps, which tend to get dark even With our outdoor light. I like how these are brown they match better and blend in with the steps. This is enough for six steps. You will need two for each. I certainly recommend this set as you get enough where others only give you a pair. This set also has more options for mounting than other sets. There are several options to mount these, It comes with a mounting plate, so you know where to put the screws if you Mount them from the back. You can also just use the double-sided adhesive, which is what I did. Be aware of where you put the adhesive. I put some too close to the inside and they didn’t quite all adhere to the wood since some was where there is a crack. At dusk, they come on and light up the entire step, It’s a nice warm, white light. Make sure you press the button on the back to activate them to turn them on when it gets dark.
