Good unit. Pays for itself.
- chuck Williamson2023-02-27motor and capacitor smoked in 5 minutes
I smelled burning electric within 30 seconds of use. it would run for 30 seconds and i had to let it have a ten-minute cool down period with the cable still not to the clogged part. it was still in open pipe with no resistance. after cycling like this and about 40 feet of cable payed out the motor burnt up and the capacitor exploded. I think the actual run time for this unit was less than five minutes with the many breaks for cooling down.

First of all , make sure you are near a trash can when you open the box so you can throw away those dangerous gloves they send you. DO NOT USE THEM. They will twist up in the cable and hurt you. Use only leather work gloves. Otherwise this machine worked great for me , even after I added another 50 feet of cable. It is not self feeding , ergo the gloves , but one that is will cost you double , and there is some advantage to being able to control the advance of the cable on tough clogs. If the clog is ingrown roots , and most sewer lines ones are , none of the attachments will work to open the line. Actually there is a caveat in the directions saying not to even use the machine on them. It could over stress the cable and cause it to kink. You have to use a "Clog buster" attachment , also available on Amazon , Instead of getting getting tangled up in tough roots trying to cut through , this attachment grinds and chews its way through. It might take a little while , but it works. I use a dose of root killer afterwards , or else they will grow back.

Worked good and very commercial for me, which is probably good. I have 6 bathrooms. But no wheels and very heavy. I am a bigger guy too. So i would have a strong guy around or a dolly if you dont want to carry something this bulky. not sure where to store it yet either. Oh and took a second, since i am not a plumber to figure out how to use the foot power thingy:)

Broke my hand
- Ed Rigby2019-10-27Easily doable for anyone with even a little DIY ability.
The instruction booklet covers two items and doesn't go into very much detail on the actual operation...for instinct, it says there is a 'reverse' feature, but fails to specify it's the number '2' on the on/off switch. Nothing earthshaking, but it does leave one to wonder who is writing these descriptions.
- denise mathews2020-01-13Just DONT BUY this thing!
Impossible to use.....this model has no hand controller! I cant understand why the company would even sell such a thing. They were very good about having it returned....but it weighs 60 pounds so no easy task at this end.

Bought it at a cheap price and triple my money back.
- Monty Python2019-12-23Great value, but lacks some features
I'm not a professional plumber, but every now and then I have a reasonably big job with the main sewer drain in my house, which was not installed properly. This fairly large drum machine is able to handle jobs my hand-held auger could never tackle, and the price was much lower than comparably-sized machines, so overall I am pleased with the purchase. I was also impressed with the selection of cutter heads that came with it. I believe it is possible to attach an extension cable, if needed, although the ones I've seen are quite pricey. The glove, however, is a bit too flimsy for me to recommend (but hey, it's free). The most significant feature this drum machine lacks is the ability to lock the cable in place while the drum turns. (Why? This little screw would be so simple to add to it). It also lacks wheels, but I think that actually adds to its stability and cuts down on its height.

Everything worked well and got my drain cleared. Order info stated it will work with 1 to 4 inch pipes, but instructions say 3/8 inch cable needed for 1 to 1 1/2 inch pipe. Product came with 1/2 inch cable. My pipe was 1 1/2 inch but seemed to work OK.
