Melted side guard due to constant lot heat, but never got hot enough to melt solder.

It takes heat to bend and form plastics such as PVC tubing which is why I considered purchasing this heat gun; and the reasonable price sealed the deal. This heat gun is a fairly small tool that is easy to handle and has simple controls, one slide switch for off, low heat and fan, high heat and fan. Heat comes from a front round nozzle which also acts as a holder for two included attachments, one to assist in shrinking plastic around wiring connections, and a second that directs the heat into a broader pattern. There is a built in stand near the front that folds up while holding the gun and can be pulled down to act as a support for the front of the gun either to keep the hot nozzle from touching a surface or to allow hands free operation, so that you can hold objects to be heated in front of the gun without actually having to hold it. This feature comes in handy when heating PVC pipe as I do since you need both hands free to rotate the pipe and bend it when it softens. The two deflectors are made from thin metal, and while they hold their shape well, you need to be careful not to place anything heavy on them because it appears that they can be easily deformed. When storing the gun in its original box, placing the gun in first and then the deflectors keeps them from getting crushed by the weight of the gun. I found the power cord to be too short, about 34 inches. Unless you are working near an outlet, perhaps on a workbench, then the short cord is a problem. If you need to use an extension cord, be sure that it is rated to handle the power needed (which is 156 watts on low speed, 309 watts on high). The gun heats up quickly and provides sufficient heat for tasks, such as drying or peeling paint, shrink wrapping plastic wraps or shrinkable wire connectors. When softening PVC I found it takes quite a while, several minutes, to get sufficient heat to soften the tubing. I would have preferred to have a higher heat setting for this purpose, but this gun does eventually get the job done. With an IR thermometer, I can estimate the temp at the nozzle is in excess of 360 degrees; it may be higher but the temp decreases quickly as it leaves the gun due to the fan (this is good for PVC work which starts to soften at about 200 and gets very 'wiggly' above 350). The instructions are adequate, considering the simple operation .. on -- off. To their credit, the authors spend a lot of time discussion how to use the gun safely to avoid burns, or even fires. Also included are tips on how to best utilize the gun for a few common tasks. In summary, this is a very nice heat gun at a very reasonable price. If however you need a LOT of heat, this might not be the one for you.

Great for local heat shrink tubing on cable.

Bought it to do heat shrink and it has done really well at that. Works good for the money.

Awesome, best heat gun for me. I like the shields, it heats up the shrink wrap quick. It is compact enough to get into tight spaces.

Me dedico a hacer diseños en tenis y pintarlos y me funciona perfectamente. CUIDADO! No lo dejarlo mucho tiempo en la misma área puede quémalo! Manténgalo fuera de los niños importante. Recomendable 👍🏽

The two temperatures are perfect for most applications. I use it mostly for drying watercolor quickly when creating a piece of art. One of the attachments fit very loosely, but notice that there are two slits on each side of the fitting that you can overlap and squeeze together, making it fit perfectly. It's a nice size to lie on the side of my art table.
- Michelle S2024-05-27Love it for drying out my watercolors faster than air-drying
This little heat gun works great for drying my water color paintings between washes, and it’s small enough to pack away with my supplies when I put them away. I’m a kitchen-table artist, so my “studio” tools have to be portable. This is a sturdy little heat gun for the price. I would definitely buy it again

Its no frills head gun. Gets the job done, not fancy but well made and very functional
