- ER2023-09-12First exposure to refillable water balloons
This was our first exposure to refillable water balloons. We got these on a whim, but only because we found them with google after the bunch o’ balloons just disappeared too quickly. I like these because they are more environmentally friendly. However, they do tear easily with my kids throwing them as hard as they can at each other. They are multi-colored and bright, and easy to pick up. We submerge these in 5 gallon buckets for refills, and place the 5 gallon bucket at strategic sites around our yard and the water balloon war is ON!!!

Hard to throw with water. It doesn’t go very far before opening. But great material and the kids loved them anyways!

The entire fam has enjoyed this purchase! They will now be a staple in our pool bag! I only gave 4 stars on value because the price is a little high for pool/water toys and I'd like to see the price go down a bit BUT we love them and would buy them again SO probably worth it!

Magnets are falling out after a few days of use!

Take away: I recommend these. They function well, the magnets look safe, and you get 8 reusable balloons. Downsides are minor: (a) slim possibility of pain being inflicted if someone throws one of these VERY hard and it hits just the wrong way (but that happens with traditional water balloons, too) and (b) unlike some other sets, this one doesn't come with a long-term storage bag (oh well, just supply your own). Additional Information: I went through a few packs of the multi-balloon things that attach to one's hose and fill up in seconds, but could no longer ignore the possible environmental impact (including wildlife possibly thinking the balloon scraps are food), so I decided to try reusable water balloons. I wanted a set with magnets (and magnets not likely to be swallowed by young children, at that) and with a good quantity of reusable balloons in the set. Of course I wanted a set that functions well. This set meets all of my criteria. I attached one photo that shows a full balloon, an empty closed balloon, an empty open balloon, and the bag in which the balloons arrive, and another photo that shows a close-up of a filled balloon. I read several reviews of reusable water balloons before I purchased these, and some of those reviews spoke of filling up half of the balloon and then closing it and using it that way. I wondered why people weren't just filling the balloons by submerging them. I still wonder that, because it is very easy to fill these balloons the whole way up via submersion. The only downsides that I see are those mentioned at the beginning of this review, and those are very minor downsides. Well, the slim possibility of pain might not be that minor, but that is a risk with any type of water balloon, whether reusable or traditional.

These water balls are great. The entire family found them easy to use and reuse. The material is soft and rubbery but not sticky, so it doesn't collect grass or dirt easily. Fully sealed tiny magnets hold the sides together, which separate upon impact. (Two halves connected at a point, rather than completely separate.) They realign and close easily when refilling. Durability was great, they took no damage during our use and clean up easily. Our only concern was that the dogs love them. With the magnets especially, these would be very bad for a dog to ingest. Would recommend. :)

Worth the money when on sale, a few did break but my boys are rough (13 & 10)
- Elizabeth Mays2024-01-03They are going to wear out, but they last longer than balloons!
The nature of what these are and how they are used means that they will eventually wear out. My nephews got a whole summer (and a good portion of the fall) out of them, but there were a few casualties along the way: I think they've got about half of them left. They are super easy to fill, and given that they are designed to be thrown and gush water upon impact, they last pretty well! Worth the money, but don't expect them to last forever...

These "reusable water balloons" are great. They are easy to fill in a bucket of water, they "pop" pretty easily when they hit someone or something, and they do NOT leave the giant mess of burst latex balloon bits all over your yard or driveway. Our family had a fun water balloon fight with them, and we all loved not having to clean up a mess when it was over. Do be aware that if you try to throw one too hard, it will probably open/burst in your hand, before it hits your target. We found that a strong underhand throw was most effective. That comment leads to my only criticism -- with the magnet closures. Two of our balloons (out of an eight-pack) had the magnets come loose and out of the silicone during the first thirty minutes or hour of use. This poses two problems. First, the water balloon will not seal adequately unless all the magnets are where they should be in the seal. That's annoying. Second, the magnets are very small and also very strong. These can be very dangerous to young children, most especially if swallowed. I don't know why little kids put everything in their mouths, but they do, and if a kid were to ingest a couple of these it could be a real source of problems. Make sure you monitor the little ones if they play with these -- it's a real matter of health and safety. I was able to slip the magnets back into their places, but that was a lot more trouble than it was worth, and I don't have a lot of confidence that they won't come out again the next time we play. For that reason, and because it's a safety issue, I had to dock one star from the review.

I have 3 kids (7, 9, and 11) and finding fun and cool activities for those warm summer days is always a big thing. We have loved getting the bunch o balloons each year but my kids can go through over 300 in less than 20 minutes which gets to be messy with all the balloon scraps and expensive. I saw ads for the reusable water balloons last summer so I decided to try them out when I came across them again. I loved that when I threw them at my daughter (the volunteer to test them out) that they actually break when they hit the person/object rather than just bouncing off and bursting once they hit the ground like most of the traditional water balloons. I like the idea of being able to just fill up a couple 5 gallon buckets and letting my kids loose with these in the backyard without having a ton of clean up. These do take a little practice to get the hang of how to fill them but overall not too complicated. The magnets that hold the balloons together seem strong and sturdy, though I do slightly worry that they will rip out of the silicone- but as of yet we haven't had that happen. I do suggest leaving these open to dry when finished otherwise they will likely get gross over time.
