    great kits

i like Canakit products. the kits contain everything you need, which makes it one-stop shopping. my only issue on the Pi 5 kit is that the cooling is a little less than what i would want. the unit runs a little warm. i suspect just replacing the fan with one that has a little more horsepower should solve the problem. in any case, i put this kit together, and it works great. for whatever it's worth, the Pi 5 right out of the box is way faster than the Pi 4. it's pretty much "desktop machine" capable now.

    Good starter kit

Good starter kit for the RPi5. They could use some instructions on which pins to use for the fan. Other than that, it works great!

Kit is complete but case and fan are lacking.

Kit is complete and probably great for a beginner. Easy to assemble, just snapping together. The ease of assembly probably leads to the weakness of the kit. The case just snaps together loosely and keeps falling open. The fan just snaps onto the inside of the case cover and is not secure. Unfortunately, I will be looking for a new case and fan assembly. Plan on spending an additional $18 - $25 for a decent case. The Pi 5 is fine and much quicker than the pi 4 it is replacing. Update : seller is very responsive to any issues reported. Case/fan were discussed and the seller was quite willing to attempt to rectify the concern. Kudos to their customer service.

    I like the heatsink

Nice package that's worth it for the money if you don't want to scrounge all the parts. The solution to mounting the heatsink is surprisingly effective and stays on quite well, but can still be pulled off

Everything you need in one box.

Everything you need to get started with Raspberry PI in one spot. Easy to put together with video instructions on YouTube if you need them. It's like a snap together model car from back when I was a kid. All the parts are quality parts and don't feel cheap like some others out there. The only thing I had a problem with was fitting the PI board in the bottom of the case at first. I couldn't get the angle right at first then realized I was doing it backwards. :) So more my problem than the kits. It comes with NOOB loaded on the included sd card. So just plug in the monitor, keyboard and mouse and turn it on. If you are like me and are going to run a headless system I would recommend reinstalling the OS from the installer software and filling out all the details first so you don't even need the monitor or keyboard.

This is a lot of money for a computer that takes a lot of effort

A PI5 should have been refined and improved. With years of experience now, it should have been an easy and good experience. Now my interest is MIPI camera data because, in principle, the data from such a camera is lossless and direct from the camera. First I had to contact CanaKit to get cables that work. PI changed the board connectors for cameras to a new size and NONE of the old cameras will fit. Then, in spite of the hype PI 5 software was not set up for cameras without a LOT of fiddling. Mostly they changed the operating system, again, and did not finish before they shipped the PI5s. Leaving out most of the camera support. This is NOT a condemnation of CanaKit. It is the PI group who sent out an incomplete system. I went back to my PI4 to use the cameras there. And immediately broke the tiny little black connector thingy they used in those horrible useless connectors. If you get the idea I am not happy with PI camera handling, I think I am not alone. For a desktop system, buy something else. Add in keyboard, mouse, monitor and for the money, you can buy a lot of Linux or Android or ChromeOS or Windows computer for this price today. I bought it to see if Raspberry Pi is going somewhere. I think they wasted an opportunity. I feel sorry for CanaKit. I am writing about PI because they determine if your product will work and grow with you. Best wishes, whatever you do.

    Communications circuit failed.

At the 30-day mark, the Ethernet status and activity lights (green/yellow) stopped working. I tried different Ethernet cables, different ports on the switch and even on the router and a different power supply. WiFi did not function either. I tried an Ethernet to usb adapter and this did not work either. Amazon directed me to Canakit, who assisted me with a replacement in about a week. No troubles with their tech support team. Very professional, understanding and solution oriented. Amazon support offered to, and did check back in a few days as promised. They were committed to me having a favorable solution. Amazon customer service ROCKS!!!😎👍🙏

Nice quality kit, easy to setup and use!

Bought a few of these to use as thin clients for AWS workstations. Still playing around with figuring that out, but the quality of the kit is nice. Everything was straightforward and easy to setup, and the device itself is working great so far. Looking forward to playing around with it more
