5 out of 5 stars - The Perfect Apple Pencil Substitute for iPad Mini 6 Users

I recently switched to the ESR Stylus Pen for my iPad Mini 6, and I must say, it’s a delightful surprise. It does everything my Apple Pencil did and more. As someone who takes notes religiously and uses the pencil as a sort of remote for my smaller iPad, this stylus has been a revelation. Pros: • Feels Like a Real Pencil: The design is genius, with one flat side that makes it feel more like a traditional pencil, improving my handwriting significantly. • Strong Magnetic Charging: It charges magnetically, and the magnet is strong —even better than the Apple Pencil, which is impressive considering I use a thicker ESR case. • Extra Tips Included: It comes with extra tips, which is a huge plus for longevity and value. Cons: • Connectivity Can Be Finicky: The only downside is the connectivity; it can be a bit temperamental. I find myself needing to connect and reconnect it a few times before it syncs. But once it’s connected, it works like a charm. In conclusion, if you’re looking for an affordable alternative to the Apple Pencil that performs exceptionally well (with a little patience for the connectivity), the ESR Stylus Pen is a fantastic choice. It’s a fraction of the price and, in some ways, even outperforms the original. Highly recommended!

    Good low cost pencil substitute

Look, I like the convenience of a pen for annotating documents and filling out electronic forms. But I’m not an artist or a student and I don’t need the features of the Apple Pencil or Apple Pencil pro, with the premium Apple pricetag. So I bought this after checking out some YouTube reviews. It serves my needs perfectly: it is accurate, with good battery life and is pleasant to hold. Of note, this will not charge on the side of the iPad Air M2 version. It will stick to the side but won’t charge, and you will have to charge by USB-C. At $25, I think this offers great value for those of us that aren’t artists or students.

Skeptical at first, but turned out to be just what I needed

I was skeptical at first that this product would actually work and do what I needed. I decided to order and give it a try. I didn’t want to spend tons of money for the name brand Apple Pencil, so I settled with this one instead. I am very happy with it so far. It charges quickly and works perfectly for my use case. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I have to reconnect manually after bluetooth disconnect which happens after I put back on the magnetic charger. Just a slight annoyance, but overall is exactly what I needed.

Doesn't Work Great With iPad Pro M4 (2024)

The stylus is nice, but the promise of charging through the iPad and it's functionality is lacking on the new iPads. The image and description of the image showed the Pro stylus and I received the regular one. Not sure if the other model work better but this one isn't that great with the M4 iPad Pro. The reasons it is lacking: 1. Palm rejection with this stylus is not great. Constantly stutters and doesn't work when my hand lays on the iPad at the same time using the stylus. 2. The charging seems like it times out sometimes and stops charging when plugged in. I also don't like that the charging cover doesn't have a way to stay connected to the stylus when charging. I fear I will lose that little piece one day. 3. It sometimes gets stuck on tilt mode. When I am writing and tilt the stylus it does a more shading effect but sometimes it doesn't return to regular mode when I un-tilt the stylus it keeps shading when I want it to be just the pen or pencil. It is fine for navigating around the iPad, and maybe it will work better on older models. But for handwriting or drawing it isn't the best. Overall not great. The one thing that is great is that it is cheap, so it is a good backup but will probably get a different stylus or just drop the money and get a Apple Pencil Pro.

Works perfectly with iPad Pro 2024 M4

Save yourself an immense amount of money by buying this instead of the Apple Pencil. This pencil works flawlessly with the iPad Pro 2024 M4. It is noticeably lighter than the OEM pencil, but who cares as long as it works. Even if it eventually stopped working, I could buy six of these for the price of ONE Apple pencil.

    Good pen with two flaws

Ok, so first of all I want to say that for the price this is a nice pencil and it does what it's supposed to be doing. For the price and the discount I'd get it. That being said I must say there are two flaws that might be important. The first one is the battery that won't last more than a week. I've had ipad pencils before that could last a month without being charged so this is kind of a bummer. Second thing is the little plug that protects the USB c port. It's going to get lost, it's small and you have to pit it away every time you are using the port. Anyhow if this is not important to you go ahead an get, its a decent device.

Newer version of the Pro model

The box says it’s the Pro version and it works great. But this one has a USB C port and the charging LED is on the end. Old version had a dauber on the end and a magnetic adapter in the box. I see why the other photos have the C port protector removed. There’s a gap when you have it magnetically attached to the iPad (see photo closeup). Otherwise, love it so far.

Almost a 5 but for the price, I am very happy.

The price is what makes this a great replacement to the original pencil, particularly, if it (original) was lost, (which I have lost 2 of). I can't bring myself to buying another Apple branded pencil, at over 100 dollars, so I purchased this and I can say it's easily as good with writing and gestures as the original from Apple. BUT... I have 2 small issues. Eventually the press button will fail. It's mechanical and so I believe this is an inevitable eventuality. Hopefully it will be a long time from now. Secondly, it disconnects quite often and takes time to reconnect where the Apple branded pencil is more "automatic" in connecting. Note, this is not enough of a problem to pass it over. For all it does, and for the outlay, it's a winner as of my first impressions. I cannot say how it does as far as time per charge, but I have no problem using if a few hours and popping it on the magnetic charge... It's not an issue for me.

    I like it but...

quick to connect, it serves it's purpose. but it doesn't charge magnetically on m4 ipad. that was the main reason I bought it. it's great for the price value, think I'll just invest & get an apple pencil pro tho.
