Bought 2 of these cameras. Installed 1 and it works perfectly fine. I installed under covered area to prevent direct sunlight/rain on camera. Hopefully camera last longer that way. Lights are pretty bright. Installed due to vandalism in alley. I have not had any issues since. I installed in area that would be difficult to run wires to. Nice crisp view of whole yard. Wi-Fi pick up signal pretty good in a brick home. Overall very happy.

The 1080p resolution provides crisp, clear footage, allowing me to easily see any activity around my home. The camera also has night vision capabilities, so I can keep an eye on things even in the dark. I recently purchased the Ring Spotlights Plus Camera, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my decision. This product has significantly enhanced the security of my home while providing a range of additional benefits. Firstly, the installation was straightforward and user-friendly. The step-by-step instructions made setting up the camera a breeze, even for someone who isn’t particularly tech-savvy. Once installed, the camera and spotlights integrated seamlessly with my existing Ring system, allowing me to manage everything from a single app. The quality of the camera is outstanding. The high-definition video provides clear and detailed footage, both during the day and at night. The night vision feature, combined with the powerful spotlights, ensures that even the darkest corners of my property are well-illuminated and monitored. The motion detection is highly responsive, and I receive instant alerts whenever there is activity around my home. One of the standout features is the two-way audio. This allows me to communicate directly with visitors or potential intruders, providing an added layer of security. The sound quality is clear and without any significant delays. Additionally, the spotlight feature is incredibly useful. It not only acts as a deterrent for unwanted visitors but also provides practical lighting for my driveway and yard. The app is intuitive, making it easy to customize settings and review footage. Overall, the Ring Spotlights Plus Camera has exceeded my expectations. - Mike L2024-06-19Easiest solution for remote cameras.
I installed a few of these around my property to give me some video coverage. They aren't as good at night as the bigger spotlight cam, but they still light up and capture video well enough and the fully wireless connectivity makes it super easy to set up. Just add them via the app from inside with the AC on and then go out and fasten it to wherever you want it. If you have the Ring protect plan with the multi-device package it will just work. The batteries last surprisingly long, but I added a second one to all of mine to make them last even longer. I keep an extra set as well so I can just swap them out and not have to go back to reinstall after they charge up. I may add the solar panel at some point and then they'll be maintenance free for the most part. The nighttime video quality isn't quite as good, but it's decent. The one that is further away from the house loses some resolution because the signal is weaker. I wish they had onboard memory to buffer some video when upload speed isn't great or during short outages. The only other peeves I have are that the person recognition feature really doesn't work. The one on my dock often mistakes cattails swaying in the breeze for a person. It also seems to lag in picking up boats going by even though I live on a canal and they are fairly close. I usually see the back end of the boat as it is exiting view when the camera finally detects the movement. Maybe that's the person filter working, although there are people on the boat so I am not sure. Luckily I am sure these can improve as updates roll out so maybe it'll improve. Even if not, they are a good value overall since they are so easy to install and the batteries last so long.

5/23/24 review for NEW version. Great camera, easy set up, excellent clarity, intuitive settings. I’ve learned to only buy NEW Ring cameras on sale and skip the refurbs. See my rationale below from the other Ring camera I bought that was refurbed and trouble. 5 stars for new new Ring camera, 3 for Refurb, 4 overall. Original review 3/21 for Refurb version - This review is for Ring refurbished cameras ONLY! My 10+ years of experience with new and refurbed Ring cameras is summed up here: I’ve never had an issue with a new Ring camera - ever. Doesn’t mean you won’t but they have been far more reliable than refurbs in my experience. When working properly and given proper WiFi signal, new and refurbs connect quickly and work exceptionally well - until the refurbs suddenly die. I have had issues with 3 Ring refurbished cameras. I will no longer buy them refurbished - new but only when on sale. If a refurbished Ring camera suddenly dies after purchase and it won’t reconnect quickly after reasonable effort, call their tech line and run through their testing protocol, their folks are patient and helpful. It may take 30 minutes on the phone but it’s the quickest way to get a replacement unit for a defective model or to uncover some weird problem that is described everywhere except the Ring website. I’d give the tech number here but Amazon probably won’t allow it so you’re on your own locating it and calling Ring tech with camera failures. It’s a well disguised number on the Ring website. Good luck if their refurb cameras die because getting a new one takes some effort and patience. But the Ring camera experience (new and refurb) overall is 4.5+ stars! Good luck!
- AndoverHorseMom2024-04-14Looks nice, works great
My contractor installed this wired version. It took some skill and distinct tools to go through the LP SmartSide siding and backer board, then wire it to a nearby outlet. I'm glad I didn't install it or it would not have looked as nice. Picture quality is good, and linking it to my Echo Show and Dot was simple. I am concerned about bear activity in my area, but this morning, a herd of deer walked through, which set off the alarm early this morning. The motion light is decently bright, and the siren is loud, but doesn't bother the neighbors on my 3 acres when it's activated (when triggered, will stay on for 30 seconds unless turned off). It's pretty small and doesn't look weird next to my LED floodlight. The instructions could have been better since I have a hard-wired kit and it came with a standard Lithium USB-chargeable battery, which I don't want in cold Minnesota weather. There was scant instruction as to how to attach the unit to the base by sliding the back panel down and off. I think RING could have done better (and made the text larger so it wasn't in a 4 point font!).
- Mishal2024-07-12Great Camera!
I’ve been using this for about a year and love it! The quality is amazing and night vision is great. The solar panel was a great idea! I live in the desert and get a lot of sun! I didn’t want to buy another better until I try the panel first, and it works great! The better is always fully charged during the day and at night it goes down to around 90%. The app is easy to use and very user friendly. The motion detection is great and lets me know that there’s movement immediately.
- florin2024-06-27Best camera we can have!
This camera really does the job! Lights up when I get close, works perfectly 24/7, easy to mount, weather resistant, great sound quality, motion detection works, so far so good, considering the we have it for more than a month! Has also night vision, looks durable, I really hope it’s gonna work like this in the future!
- Mopar702024-05-07Reasonably happy.
I was very excited to receive this security cam and solar charger. I did buy an extra battery so I wouldn’t have to climb up the ladder too often if I needed to charge the unit. I’ve since purchased the power plugin to keep from worrying about whether or not the solar charger actually works, which it does, and I’ve not installed the power cord as of yet. We live off of a gravel road in the woods and the camera does detect motion over 50’ away, so most generally anyone who drives up the road is seen and recorded and I can see that from anywhere on the phone app as long as I have decent internet where I am. The camera does miss a lot of things that happen closer even within the three zones I set. It may or may not capture a vehicle entering my driveway and or leaving the driveway. First day I used it, it caught me leaving for work, but not my wife a few hours later. One minute her car was there, then magically disappeared with no motion detected. It’s spotty like that no matter how I set the alerts. The spotlight is nice but not ultra bright but does the job and having it paired with the doorbell is nice as when I leave the front door it kicks on the lights on the spotlight cam around the corner where my vehicle is parked. I really love that feature. All in all, I’m happy but not thrilled. I really don’t see the difference in having zones and having one big zone. The alert doesn’t say which zone it’s detecting, it just uses whatever you designated as the name for the camera, like driveway. The solar charger is a great option though for a few days I wasn’t sure it was doing any charging but noticed it today before this review. Definitely run 2 batteries! It alternates between them allowing one to charge, apparently. I will be buying another spotlight camera soon. Ring is the only brand I’ll buy and I hope with future updates that they’ll improve the zone detection and alert me to what zone is triggered, just seems more helpful to me as I may need to get up and defend my home in a hurry.
- Frequent Shopper2024-06-10Few flaws that needs to be corrected
I am mainly comparing this to the Stick up Cam because you an easily place $20 solar light with a motion sensor next to Stick up cam and get a better results. Here are the reason's I don't like the Spot light cam: 1) It only comes with Fix bracket (see the attached picture). Its beyond me why Ring did not include a nice bracket like the one that comes with Stick up Cam where you can adjusted to any angle that you like. You have to buy your own as the one that comes with spotlight has limited angels you can point to. I recommend that you purchase the one in the attached picture for a nice 180 degree moves. 2) Picture quality of Stick up is much better in the daylight and even in the dark (if you install it next to solar light). I paid $24 for a bright solar light with a sensor and my picture quality is better than the Spotlight Cam Plus. (The Spot light has a wider angle camera but quality of the picture is lower in my opinion). Spot light also comes with two batteries but stickup up cam with a solar pack will do fine and you never have to charge the battery. 3) Price is too high compare to Stick up My conclusion, you are better off with Stick up camera, with a solar panel and a nice solar light. You still come up ahead in cost and quality of Video.
