    Very Effective Ring Extender

This Chime Pro solved the problem of my Ring cameras getting weak wifi connections. I was prepared to replace my older router but decided to try the CP first. So glad i did. This simple plug and play device fully enabled the cameras. and it avoided the immediate need and expense of router updating. This CP is a must-have device. In addition to wifi extension, it has a very useful auto sensing nite light that is switchable on or off. Just plug it in, give it access to your wifi and Ring devices, and in a short time it will recognize and optimize wifi connectivity. So glad I tried this device before tinkering with my wifi router.

My honest review after 2 years of using the Ring Chime Pro!

I bought the Ring Chime Pro because I have a Ring Doorbell and a Ring Floodlight that are on opposite ends of my house and are outside so they are far from my internet modem. I wanted to get this to potentially prevent any issues with internet connectivity. After 2 years of use, this is my honest opinion about it. The device itself is reasonably priced, although it cost as much as the doorbell camera itself which doesn't make sense to me. It is super easy to install, it literally just plugs into any outlet and you can connect it to internet easily with the Ring app (instructions are step-by-step and easy to follow). It is located in my hallway, which is a halfway point between my 2 cameras. I love the little nightlight that turns on when it senses a dark room because this improves visibility in my otherwise dark hallway at night. The Chime is SUPER customizable in the Ring app and you can set different tones/volumes for different events (doorbell ring, motion detection, person detection). This has never randomly disconnected from my internet over the years so it has good connectivity. It is sleek and looks good in my home. It is also somewhat flush against the wall making it difficult for my baby to play with or remove from the outlet which is a HUGE plus (she tries to play with it but has never been able to pull it out of the wall so she loses interest quickly). As far as improving the signal to my Ring devices, I will say that my doorbell camera has never lost connection HOWEVER my floodlight camera rarely but occasionally still loses internet access if there is bad weather. My garage is pretty far away though, and there is no other outlet that I could put this in that makes sense and it only happens very rarely so it isn't really a huge deal when it happens. I have owned signal boosters in the past that were a bit strong than this one, but it does the job and it acts well as a doorbell chime if you don't have an Alexa hub that can chime for you. Overall, if you are looking for a doorbell Chime to link to you Ring devices with the added bonus of boosting internet signal, I would recommend getting this Chime device. It has worked well enough for me over the years and I do not regret my purchase. Hope this helps!

Absolutely worth having and really keeps you well informed of your home's security cameras.

We have four of these units, two in our home, one in my garage and one on our breezeway so anyone who enters our property can absolutely hear it alerting bot us and them that we're aware of what's going on. They're easy to mount and certainly loud enough to be heard over most small power tools. The range extender capability is also extremely beneficial. Yes, I would strongly recommend these.

Wifi bridge gives my Ring Security Cam a much better signal. Reasonably priced.

I've had a Ring Doorbell for quite a while now and recently installed a Ring Floodlight Cam over my garage for extra security and monitoring. I live in an older house with thick walls and unfortunately there are several internal walls and two exterior walls between my wifi router and the Ring Floodlight Cam and the wifi signal is very weak and constantly dropping out. I have several old routers laying around I could set up as a wifi bridge, but rather than go through all the hassle, for 60 bucks I thought I would try the Ring Chime Pro as an easier off the shelf solution first. Configuration was super easy and I had it up and working in less than five minutes. When my contractor first installed my Ring Doorbell, he hooked it up to my old mechanical doorbell so I could hear when somebody is at the door like before. However, after several months that stopped working. It is nice to now have an audible sound when somebody is at the door again, especially if I have guests and leave the house with my phone. It would be nice if there were more than 16 ring sounds to choose from, but it is adequate. I put the Ring Chime Pro in the front room of my house with less walls between it and the Ring Floodlight Cam but unfortunately, the wifi extender feature was still too weak to reliably connect to it. I finally ended up putting the Ring Chime Pro in the kitchen on the wall at the very front of the house and that was finally the magic spot for the wifi extender to give a solid signal. The Ring Floodlight Cam is now super fast and the most responsive I have experienced. The house has an open floor plan so the doorbell chime is still easily audible through out the house as well where it is currently installed. There are a few negatives. The Ring Chime Pro does not run hot but it does run pretty warm. The spot in the kitchen where I have it installed is near the oven but luckily the oven throws off very little heat so I think it will be ok. Also, the Ring Chime Pro has a light sensor which is supposed to automatically turn on and off the nightlight when it is dark. Even though my kitchen is pretty well lit, especially in the daytime, the nightlight is always on 24/7. The Ring Doorbell and Ring Floodlight Cam software lets you schedule when to alert or not alert. Hopefully someday the software will also let you schedule when the nightlight feature should be active, but for now I just disabled it. The doorbell chime and wifi extender features are great. The nightlight feature needs a configurable schedule, but might work ok for some people. The unit does run on the warm side which might be an issue over time if installed in an area that has high temperatures. Overall for the price, I would recommend the Ring Chime Pro.

Why do you need RING Chime Pro?

Purchased and installed RING PRO2, and took package with the RING Chime Pro as my spouse has hearing loss to a degree and cannot hear the doorbell unit in hallway from the living room. Once all installed it became apparent that all would benefit from the adding of the RING Chime Pro linked with the RING PRO2 doorbell. REASON: If you have the iPhone app closed, and someone comes within range of the RING camera/sensor, you do not get to know what is going on until the iPhone is opened. With the RING Chime Pro plugged into the wall (also a night lite) you get instant notification that someone is close to your unit as soon as the sensor detects them. When door bell is rang, the RING Chime Pro serenades with a chime of your selection...and at your selected volume. I had researched doorbell units with chime selection and volume control and found none close to the $59 RING Chime Pro. For getting close sensor my spouse selected BARKING DOGS, and for Chime WESTMINSTER. many other selections all with volume control. Fantastic unit at great price. One downside, the screws contained for mounting outside doorbell are of soft China steel, and will be useless after a few turns of screwdriver, go get good USA screws, perferably stainless steel. And pre-drill a screw hole, which is not called out in directions.

It Eventually Works But Give it Time

I first bought a Ring doorbell cam 4 and hard wire installed it. RSSI signal strength was around -65 which was ok but not good. Because RSSI is a negative number, the lower number the better. For example, the best RSSI is -59 to -1. I then bought the Ring Chime Pro and installed it in a wall outlet between the router and the doorbell. The app said, no good, find a different location. I tried three more locations, including a wall outlet inside the house located only about 8 feet from the outside doorbell. Signal strength still not good. Finally, I used an extension cord and located the Ring Chime pro on top of a dresser that is literally one foot from the doorbell, with only the house's outer wall between the doorbell cam and the Ring Chime Pro. At first, still no good! I felt defeated. But wait, there is more! I checked on it a couple of hours later and all of a sudden, the RSSI was great, it was -44. My conclusion is that do not be thrown off by an initial bad reading. Apparently it takes awhile either to establish the good connection and/or the Ring cam device only updates the signal strength report every so often. So now I conclude that it is possible that some of the other locations I tried may also work. To adequately test each location, I believe you need to install it and let it sit there for awhile. In the Ring app, go to the Ring doorbell cam settings, click on "Device Health" to see the current RSSI value, but also scroll down and to see the date and time of the last "Device Health Check." If that time is a couple of hours ago, do something to the doorbell cam to trigger it, like ring the doorbell, and then check device health again. I did this and the RSSI value changed for the better. It has now been over a week, and I am consistently getting an RSSI from the router to the Ring Chime Pro, and from the Ring Chime Pro to the Ring cam, of about RSSI-45, which is great. Other things: As other reviewers have noted, you truly can easily turn off the nightlight, the chime alerts, and even the little blue status light. In other words, you can easily make the Ring Chime Pro a completely dark and silent device whose only purpose is the signal strength boost. This is all I wanted because my doorbell cam is hard wired to my mechanical doorbell chimes and I don't need any part of it except the signal boost. Thus I give five starts to the Ring Chime Pro. I have not yet reviewed the Ring doorbell cam itself, but my comment on that is that if you have a brick house, like mine, and your doorbell is in a corner far away from your router, you will probably need to also pay $49 for the Ring Chime Pro, unless you already have a system of mesh wifi boosters. Also, the Ring Chime Pro is super easy to install. Assuming you have already installed the Ring app on your phone, you just plug the Ring Chime Pro into a wall outlet. Then you do have to wait a few minutes while the app sends a firmware update to the device. After that, the app will start giving you prompts that the location is no good. But if you feel the location is pretty good, I would wait, as described above, and see if the signal strength improves over time.

    Excellent doorbell camera

I bought this Ring doorbell camera plus one extra battery and it has proved excellent. Every time motion is detected, there is a ding-a-ling on my phone and I can check the video. It's possible (easy) to adjust the area of sensitivity (I'm a technical novice) so that the cat doesn't keep setting it off. Sometimes at night a squirrel or raccoon triggers it when they climb the tree next to the front door. The angle covered is surprisingly wide - my entire driveway. When I was in Hawaii, I got notifications (I live in Los Angeles), and we recently took a trip 200 miles up the coast, and I still got notifications and video when my neighbor came to feed the cat, and of course the mailman. I'm surprised at how long the battery lasts (over a month) - I can check battery status on the phone and always have a spare fully charged. Definitely recommended.

Great wifi extender for Ring products

Our Ring spotlight cam had a weak wifi signal and often missed recording events. All has been well since I bought and installed Ring Chime Pro. Set up was really easy through the Ring app, the nightlight is a plus, and I’m happy with it.

    Thank you ring support

Bought two of these a few months back. One for downstairs and one for upstairs. They worked for a couple months and then I couldn’t get them to connect to my system/wifi anymore. I spent a decent amount of time on the phone with ring support troubleshooting and they couldn’t resolve the issues either. They emailed me two coupons for two brand new chime pro versions which I installed today. I really have to say, I’ve never had a better customer service experience. I even decided to upgrade my old doorbell version 2 to the new ring pro doorbell cam today. Came same day and the video is 100% better. Thank you to that really nice lady in Taiwan (customer service) who helped me.

Best to extend WIFI signal for Ring devices.

Purpose: Best to extend WIFI signal for Ring devices. Here are some details: Easy to Install: Plug it in to an (indoor) wall socket approximately 1/2 way between Ring device(s) where you need extended WIFI on. Test the settings (via Ring app). SAVE THE BOX (It has a QR Code). You need the QR Code for the device. One may need to try different plugging this in different locations to get the perfect or optimum setting. Depending on the amount of square-footage of you residence, and the number of walls you have, you may need more than 1 of these in different locations if your WIFI isn't picking up a signal strong enough and constant. Other Features: Hear the door bell ring from this device. Select different tones. Can turn it off too via the app. The Ring App: The Ring app is easy to use. You can track all your Ring devices from the App. You can also share the app from the master account (registered user) with other family members or authorized persons. ONLY the master account (registered user), can delete videos and change the settings for devices. Ring Help: Toll free help line was helpful when I had some install issues. VPN: VPN is not supported by Ring. If using a VPN (virtual private network), you'll have to turn that app off first before using the Ring app. Then, turn the VPN back on after you're done. I know it's annoying, but if you want to use VPN, this is how to do it. Cellular or Wi-Fi. Ring works on your own WiFi network. Suggest use your cell phone's cellular data and WiFi. If use WIFI only, you won't see alerts until you have WIFI again.
