    Well built, easy installation

Bought this to replace a juice box charger we bought from Costco a few years ago that had been giving us nothing but problems for the last year or so. The chargepoint was a few hundred more so I was hoping it would be a quality product and it is. As with much in life, you get what you pay for. The only hitch when replacing the charger was the orientation of the 14-50 outlet. We basically had to rotate the plug 180° because the old charger had the cord coming from the opposite direction. Once that was taken care of, we plugged it in and followed the app instructions to connect to wifi. It has been working quite well and the app is much better than the juice box one. No issues at all so far.

Very easy app to use wiring gets warm great product fast charge

Like this product so far, I set it up at 50amp as that is what my breaker is, but feel the cables get warm , can it be set up at 40 amps and would that be better, even if it was a little slower charging ?

Easy to install, month with no issues

This charger for my first EV has been amazing. Super easy to setup and works flawlessly with my EV9. Tons of cable length and it seems very durable for years of use. App was easy to setup and connect to my charger (I have a mesh router in my garage). App itself is a little clunky design wise but it’s pretty functional and does what it’s supposed to.

    Great Unit

Although a bit pricey I really like the clean set up as compared to some others I’ve seen. We were in need of a new upgraded electrical box so we had our electrician install this unit at the same time. The upgrade saves hours over using 110 to charge a car. Well worth the money. One drawback is that it doesn’t seem like there are many Chargepoint charging stations, as there seems to only be a few sporadically spread out. When I look on the App there never seems to be any available near where I am. Hopefully Chargepoint will continue to expand the availability. As a result I strictly use it it for home use, which is flawless.

    Simple Installation and Set Up

I researched dozens of charging units before finally settling for the ChargePoint. I liked its look, slick design, and cable storage. What really sold me with the design is the holster. The way it swivels down and not stick out. The cable length is perfect, and the connector has a nice feel and look. I Installed a 50A circuit and a Bryant Electric NEMA 14-50R outlet that I purchased from Amazon as well to utilize the 40A charging capability. It charges at 29-30 miles per hour. The App is really simple. It was a matter of minutes to set it up on WiFi and the schedule. I went back and forth with setting the schedule on the ChargePoint or on my Genesis GV60. Both schedulers are adequate, but in the end I chose to use the ChargePoint scheduler because when I used my car scheduler the ChargePoint shows as charging time when it's actually idle time. It logs time from connect to disconnect (not charge start/stop when using the car scheduler). There's no issue as far as it's drawing power, its more my anal retentiveness in seeing the idle time shown as charge time in the charge log. It also set your rate plan for your particular utility company to ensure it'll never charge out of your time of your low rates. The one caveat was the time change. I'm in California, and when it was time to fall back, it didn't. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with, when we spring forward we're on the same timezone as Arizona (whose time doesn't change). So when I was expecting it to alert me at 8pm as a reminder to plug in to my car it didn't. By it not auto adjusting the time; if it was plugged into my car, it would have started charging at 8pm, which is an hour before my low rate (9pm) kicks in. There wasn't a quick way to change my time zone. I had to go on YouTube to find a video of someone having the same issue. In order to get the time to adjust to the right time, I had to change my address to a random address in a different timezone and then reboot the charger. Then I had to change the address back to my address and reboot the charger again, and the time issue was resolved. Hopefully they'll come with a software update to fix the time issue. I've been really satisfied with my selection, and I definitely recommend this charging unit.

Input Power Cable too short - impossible to install with existing outlet box

The Input Power Cable (the cable that you plug into the outlet) is way too short! It's only1 foot long. The problem is that there is absolutely no way to plug this into my Eaton Power Outlet box (see attached pictures) and have enough cable left to mount the charger. Notably, this is the same outlet that I used to power my old JuiceBox EV charger that failed and this was NOT a problem. However, because the plug-in on the end of the ChargePoint input power cable is designed in such a way that the cable goes upward and not downward when plugged in, it is physically impossible to plug it into this style of outlet box because the plug-in won't fit under the lip of the box. Note that the ground is at the top of the outlet and I believe that is per code. If the outlet were to be installed upside down, it might work but it may not be up to code (I'm not sure about that). There are a number of potential solutions to this problem but ultimately, I ordered a 3 foot, 50-amp extension cord from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJYBXKGP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1). I can easily plug in the extension cord to the outlet since the cable goes DOWN, not up (see picture) and then plug that into the input power cable on the charger. It's not pretty but it works. Hopefully it's up to code? Bottom line: This installation would have been super easy if ChargePoint would just re-design the plug to match the extension cord design and make the input power cord much longer (3 feet?). The other problem I had with the installation was the connection to my Wifi. I got an error message saying that it could not connect. I simply uninstalled the ChargePoint app and reinstalled the app and then it connected immediately to my wifi. The charger works great and I really like the holder for the charging cable. It's really easy to get in and out of the holder. I also like the way the charger lights up with different colors depending on the charging status. I would give this 5 stars if not for the input power cable problem. It should be long enough to allow the charger to be mounted to a stud a few feet away.

    Love the features

I purchased a charger from VW when I bought my first EV. It overheated all the time so I did my research and bought this one. I wish I would have purchased this originally. I no longer have issues with overheating. It charges at about 7kwh. On my ID.4 I got about 22-24 miles per hour. This was faster than the level 2 charger I bought from VW. I have the Blazer EV now and it is ranging about the same as the VW. Good things about it: the cord is long enough to reach to the back of the garage. On the ID.4 the charge port was on the right rear. With the Blazer it’s the left front. I have no problems reaching now that the port is in a different location. The app helps you to see how much each charge costs. You connect it to your WiFi, set up your electric company, and your plan and it will tell you the cost. So for me it’s cheapest to charge between 1AM and 6AM but that’s not typically enough time for me so I have it start at midnight and go until it’s finished. I also have solar but it does help to see the impact my charging has on my electricity. The charging cord wraps around your charger to keep it out of the way when not in use. Basically, it’s easy to use. I haven’t had any errors yet (2 months of use). It was an easy install because I already had a charger but if you need to have an outlet installed it still wouldn’t be bad. There’s an app to walk the electrician through the install.

A reliable charger, but dependent on a reliable network connection.

We like the charger. We have 2 EV cars and the long cable is very useful. Installation by electrician was easy. Due to a cable interruption (workmen next door cut the cable) charging was slowed considerably to level I. When cable service was restored, the electrician could not reboot the charger to level II. He called ChargePoint, and after a few minutes we were guided through reconnection of communication with the network and the charging was re-enabled to level II (from 3kw/hr to 8.6 kw/hr or higher).

    Does its Job

I expected a better designed app for this charger. Also, I must forcefully push the charger into my car port in order for it to properly connect and then charge. If not forcefully pushed into the port so that it connects and latches, the charger will not work. Other chargers I have used easily connect into my Hyundai Ioniq 6 port. This charger does its job but for its price I expect higher quality. I'll revisit this review in a few months to update my experiences.
