Right now, I love this doorbell, the view is fantastic and the instructions for setting up this wired doorbell were simple and easy to understand. This camera makes the night look like day. I bought a refurbished model, but I cannot tell that it’s not brand new. Everything was included with all the instructions.

I have been having issues with my neighbors overstepping their boundaries at our apartment complex, the last one where they were on my front steps. After that incident I immediately began looking at cameras both as a deterrent and for evidence if they were to do something like that again. I know many people with the ring doorbell, so I thought that would be a good option The doorbell was easy to install and setup, it has a bracket with 4 screws that the doorbell itself clips to and has 2 security screws to prevent theft. Before putting it in place it has to be charged, as long as you’re using battery. It took about 2 1/2 hours to charge from a quarter battery out of the box. It includes a charging cable and all mounting hardware out of the box. After running it for a week on default power settings I am down to 89% battery, so it’ll last a while, but it’ll have to be taken down for a few hours occasionally to be charged. My one wish was that the battery was removable so I could have 2 packs I could swap out, but it isn’t the end of the world. Video quality is pretty good on it, day time viewing is great. Night vision is a little dark to see, but it is on me due to where I had to mount it. I mounted it directly on the door, the only problem with that is it picks up the white trimming around the door more than anything in the dark. My solution was to put a small motion activated light under it, it allows me to see the footage alright if someone happens in the dark. Under better mounting circumstances it works well at night The ring app has a very nice interface, it is very user friendly and you can easily save clips if needed. The app will notify you of motion or people at the door, so you can see quickly what’s going on. It will also allow you to change settings on the camera to save power and such. In terms of connection issues, I haven’t had any that other users have reported. However the WiFi access point it’s connected to is only a few feet away through the wall so I really can’t speak about installations further away. It is worth noting that it only supports 2.4Ghz WiFi, I would check what your network supports first. There is a subscription, Ring Protect, for this and other ring cameras. It’s 3.99 for 1 camera, $10 a month for all cameras, or $20 for a “pro plan” with 24/7 monitoring. For 1 doorbell camera I am using the $3.99 one, however if I ever need more cameras I would definitely use the $10 one. It is also compatible with Alexa, I am able to use my echo speaker as a ringer for when someone pushes the bell Overall I am very happy with this doorbell camera I would definitely recommend it. I know a lot of people wouldn’t like the subscription part, but it makes sense since they’re storing your cameras footage. It’s less of a worry than a thief taking an sd card out of similar. Even just have the camera there has already acted as a deterrent, those neighbors have walked by but haven’t done anything near my porch since. The only people that have been up there are people that should be like the mail and such. With this I feel way more secure!

Within 3 days of getting this I hired a professional to install it the button worked maybe 3 days and then it just stopped. You can’t even press it it gets stuck! and now it is constantly saying motion detected when there’s no motion I made sure the camera lens was clean to make sure it wasn’t a dust particle. I have to either get another one refund, but I can’t get my money back for paying a professional to install it.

Love it already. Only $5 for full video of my front yard and all vehicles.
- Melanie&Jamal2024-06-19Great product
I replaced the Neat doorbell with this model and it is great. More features and functionality is amazing.
- Francine Judge2024-04-07How effective is the view.
I used it for surveillance. It does not show true clear images of individuals as the advertisement suggested. At one point, an individual was at my front door and all of a sudden there were blurry images like those on a tv screen when there is a storm affecting the picture view.

Mejor de lo que esperaba el producto se miraba un poco rayado pero de ahí en fuera me ha gustado bastante, la calidad de cámara es muy buena

The ring classic video doorbell is by far the best value out there. It performs better than any of the ring doorbells with a battery and with a subscription gives you all the desires you really need. The very few features it doesn’t have are not possibly worth paying 5x more the cost. Every feature you need this doorbell has with a subscription. If your looking to skip the $100/year subscription then Ring isn’t the right product for you. All of their products depend on a subscription for any real use. For example no ring doorbell has the ability to store video or photos other than live calls. So if you want to see what has happened after the fact you are out of luck with all Ring products. To record and recall video you are required to pay for a subscription. However for only 3.99/mo per camera you get recordings. Better deal is 100/year for unlimited cameras which is a pretty great deal. So decide if you want to install cameras to cover your home and pay the 100/ year fee and this is a great system. This doorbell I think is the best value. The battery ones don’t work all that great bc they are asleep and by the time they begin to record your just going to catch the back of someone’s head. Since this doorbell requires a power line it can pre-record and is essentially constantly recoding but only sends events where motion is detected. The huge deal I discovered is the battery cameras can’t pre-record. In other words once it sense motion 5 seconds before the motion was sensed is saved as an event that you can quickly scroll through. Without this feature these cameras are pretty worthless. We had a battery powered unit and even ran power to it and it constantly Missed anyone who passed by the door. The battery units even missed people entering then house. So if you want Ring be sure you can run a power line and get one of the powered models. If you look carefully this is the best version to purchase. The other versions have a few feature but at the end of the day all you need is this version. Get a refurbished one which looks like new and has all the parts and save almost 50%. So for less than $60 you can have video survelanxe if your front door (plus the membership fee.) Ring is the only camera that offers true integration with Alexia where when someone rings your doorbell it is announced on Alexia and with a quick routine added when someone rings your doorbell the image automatically is shown on your Alexia. No other camera system to my knowledge can do this with Alexia. So if you have an Alexia with a screen get this doorbell and with just 3.99/mo you have the start of a decent security system for your front door. Since these only cost about $50 each you can easily afford to cover your back door. Quick tip if you want to arm and disarm cameras you will need to get the ring alarm base kit. Which integrates with the 100/ year camera recording. For only $200 year you get real live home monitoring like ADT for a price that no other alarm company can come close to. 200|year for full home monitoring and unlimited cameras is the best deal you can find anywhere. Again if you need a battery powered recorder and don’t want to pay month fees other cameras allow local recoding without any fees. So if you need a battery model that can pre-record or don’t want to pay subsription fees Ring is NOT the right system for you. For anyone who wants video recoding to the cloud which is the only way to record that the their can’t erases then this is the system for you. Additional cameras are not expensive and for just 100/ year you can have you house covered with cameras. If you want to add the alarm look on eBay and you will find the security system add on that starts off at 199 for as little as $50. This will allow you to arm/disarm the system. There are some cameras you don’t want constantly giving motion alerts and recoding you when your home. So the ring alarm panel is the best way to toggle modes on/off. Overall this is the least expensive camera doorbell and offers all the features you need. Avoid the battery doorbell at all costs. Even if you run power they miss events. This one doesn’t miss anything. Hope this helps. I’ve tied 4 alarm systems and 3 versions of the ring doorbell. By far this is the best version. Hands down. Don’t think of using the battery ones. They miss events and are pretty much worthless. Hope this helps.
