Great video quality, real-time alerts, good phone app & customer support

This Arlo 2.0 video doorbell is by far the best of all the other brands. Good price/ quality. Easy install (takes 2 drill holes with electric drill), comes with optional angled bracket, wired or wireless. Setting up Arlo app was user friendly on my phone. Great video quality, night vision, motion sensor, & type of motion (person, package, animal) with the widest camera angle. The Arlo app alerts my phone within 1-2 seconds of a motion. When someone rings the bell, the app will call your phone & you can pick up & talk to the person at the door. There is a slight 3-4 second audio delay with this live-call feature tho, hopefully Arlo will work out the glitches but I was still able to get thru to my UPS delivery person. Comes with free 30 day Arlo Secure Trial. After that the basic Subscription package is $4.99/month (or $4.14/month if you pay annually) for the basic plan. You have access to videos stored on the Arlo cloud for 30 days. This was the best deal I could find of all the other brands (Ring, Blink, Google Nest, etc.) & app / doorbell / videos still work great on my phone. Nearly at the end of my 30 day trial & will definitely subscribe when it ends. Do wait till the last day of your 30 day trial to sign up for your subscription because they start billing you on the day you sign up & not on the last day of your free trial. I learned that the hard way, had to call Arlo support to get them to cancel my early sign up. Had to wait a bit for customer rep to get a higher up to cancel it but it all worked out & they were nice enough. So now I can wait till the last day of my trial to re-sign up for the subscription.

Perfect addition to my Arlo system.

While Arlo’s first generation of cameras are super convienent and easy to deploy, having to change the batteries all the time is a bit of a PITA. I saw this was on sale and jumped at the chance to add it to our home monitoring system. It was a snap to install. The instructions were straight forward and easy to follow. For those that think you need a compatible “hub” to use it, you don’t. Just choose the connect to your wifi SSID option. After connecting to your network, all the recordings will show up in your Arlo interface like the recordings from all the other cameras. Be sure to really assess whether or not you need to used the angled backplate, if you add it later it can be a bit of a hassle. It’s performs great and now I can redeploy our camera that we had been using for the front porch somewhere else because this doorbell camera takes care of that area and no hassle of changing batteries all the time. The interface for people at your door is also well thought-out. The visitor is greeted with various light combinations and audio prompts. You also have the ability to “answer the door” from your phone, iPad or computer with its built-in two way audio communication. If you’re considering getting this, just do it, especially if it’s on sale like it was for me.

    Video Quality

Came late, like a lot of Amazon orders now. Not much instructions. I had watched U Tube install videos. Helped a lot. Camera and door bell works OK. Couple small problems took time to figure out. Install manuel, even online be helpful. Overall good video, sound fair, motion detection good. Tried customer service chat, very slow. Option to talk to live agent. Usually have trouble with foreign accents didnot try. Good price, quality looks good, just lots of features to learn how to use.

    Great video quality!

Very easy to install, sync with wifi and set up. The new version of their door bell camera does, however, require Alro’s new app platform, which is not the easiest to figure out. Spent hours on the phone with support and the system is still not working like it was on their old platform.

DO YOUR RESEARCH! Product is mediocre at best, and the service/add-ons are worthless

My review is two part: (1) the product itself, (2) Arlo overall. In summary, the product itself is not really worth it unless you just want to be able to check in on the live feed and get motion alerts for things happening immediately in its focused area. Otherwise, expect to pay out the nose trying to get a system working the way you want it, only to find out it doesn't work the way you think it will. The product: Set up was easy for the most part, but I've had to delete it and "re-install" it on my account a few times when it's just completely timed out on me and stopped recording on motion events. It seemed to get better when I ended up buying an Arlo Smart Base, it hasn't needed a re-install since then. Even though I pay for the Arlo Secure Plus so I can set up custom activity zones, it ignores the zones I set up and triggers no matter where the motion is in its field of view. I like that my homes mechanical doorbell still rings when someone presses the Arlo doorbell and I love that it calls my phone anytime someone presses it. It's a bit rough to use if you need to actually talk to someone. By the time I answer, the app loads, and I begin talking the person who rang the doorbell has just about given up waiting for an answer. If you're lucky enough to catch them before they walk away there is about a 10 second delay for them so they sit there waiting for you to reply wondering if it disconnected. Not the end of the world, but given what I pay for the whole package in general it frustrates me a bit. I wish I would have looked harder at Ring, as the doorbell does not integrate well with Alexa devices. The service: I can't speak to what the experience is like without paying for Arlo. I imagine if you plan on using this for free, it is worthless. I wanted the full functional experience so I opted to pay the $15/mo for Arlo Secure Plus. This allowed for the ability to have 4K cloud recording, 30 days of cloud history, custom activity zones, smart (and rich notifications). The smart notifications is this product/services only redeeming quality. When motion is detected, Arlo sends you a notification letting you know if the motion is a person, animal, vehicle, or just general motion. This was really cool, at first, until it triggered a notification for something overnight that I wanted to follow up on. Unfortunately, the motion detection triggered a person prowling around, but I was not able to see all of there activity or see where they came from or where they went because the camera only recorded the motion trigger and about 30 seconds after the fact. Frustrated by this, I went to Arlo support to find out that a service option for continuous video recording (CVR) was available for $9.99/mo per camera. I figured I only really needed my main camera to be opted in to keep costs down. Well, I looked all over Arlo support and spent days, if not a few weeks e-mailing back and forth with Arlo to finally find out that the only way you can opt in to CVR is if you have an Arlo smart base. Frustrated by this, I gave in and purchased a kit that included 2 - 4k Arlo Ultra 2 cameras and a smart base. Got the smart base all set up with no problem and even opted to insert a class 10 SD card into the base of it to backup video clips. Fast forward a few months and disaster strikes again, this time for my neighbor, who asked me to see if I had captured anything. I reviewed the camera I had opted into CVR and found that I had captured the entire crime from start to finish. Then, I tried to export the video to provide it to them and law enforcement, but ran into my next big headache... there was no option on either the app or while logged in on a browser to export the video. Again, I found myself researching for an answer for an hour or so to find that the consensus was to use a third party screen capture software. This is unacceptable! My camera obviously didn't record it off a motion even because I have it set up to not go off every single time a leaf twitches on my street. So, I took a screen capture of the video and provided it to my neighbor, but seeing as it didn't really provide suspect information, it is probably worthless. Even if it had, I question whether any such evidence would be suitable for the court as I have no way of exporting it and having the metadata show when it was actually captured. A screen capture obviously will only show the time of when my screen capture occurred. Overall, I'm incredibly disappointed because I've invested nearly $1k into all the equipment, accessories, and service just to find that it is nothing more than an overpriced system for someone far older than me who enjoys just being a nosy neighbor. If I could go back in time and avoid purchasing this I would have. Arlo doesn't seem to be in a rush to improve any of its products, so I'm not going to hold my breath for it to get better any time soon. Most of the answers to my questions I found have been asked and answered as far back as 2019, so obviously not a whole lot has improved over the years. I bought the system based on how it ranked on some of my favored technology review sites. I guess I should have dug deeper into the systems capabilities. This was my first time setting something like this up, so I really didn't know what I wanted until it was too late. Next time I'll buy a wired closed circuit system with a DVR and take the extra time fishing wire through the walls.

Great Value. Fast & Easy Set-Up. Quality Product

I purchased the Arlo video doorbell 2K for my new home and have recommended it to all my friends and family. I had it set up and running within minutes of opening the package. I love the features that allow me to recognize certain members of my family so I don't have to get notifications every time they go through the door. The camera also identifies and distinguishes between humans and animals, which is another cool feature. The best thing about this product is the affordable price. It functions like an expensive, professional quality security camera system but it was under $100!!

    Good camera

I like the clarity with this camera. It does have a bit of a delay between speaking and hearing through it. Kind of annoying but I don’t rely on that anyway. I prefer it over the Zmodo camera that it replaced. Simple and effective for what I need. And the angle is way better than other cameras I’ve used. I can see so much more

Worked great - possibly some false advertising

The nutshell. When you buy it, you get a free trial of all the features you would get if you subscribed. Works great. Easy installation. Set up on your phone is involved but it walk's you through it. Inviting others in the household to view the camera is not easy but doable - I'd imagine it depends on your wifi. I'm a gamer, so I have pretty good wifi - You cannot dual view the camera with another. You will get kicked out of it. I bought it because I needed a security doorbell camera. I thought i had done my research and picked this one to allow me to view the happenings through the day - and it did - but for the free trial and subscription. Free version is only live view, when I could have sworn they advertised keeping the recordings albeit for a smaller window than what you would get for the subscription. Other features include the advanced object detection, emergency response, responding to rings... ok basically everything but a live view. I would not recommend this camera unless you plan on paying the monthly subscription. I do miss the days where you got the product with a single purchase, instead of these legal string you along cons.

Excellent video doorbell. Awkward UI and setup.

Once fully installed this doorbell paired with the chime is just what I need. But, pairing the chime required reaching out to support as theres some settings that needed to be changed for the Android OS. Also, the settings are not clear on the front end that one can disable either the call your phone and or the chime via the app.

    Functional

I found it tricky to set up because the instructions are all in an ap and you need to create an account to see them. Haven't figured out how to make all the functions work yet, but otherwise it seems to work well - good picture quality.
