- Daniel Gonzalez from Chicago2019-06-13This is a must have item!...works great with HomeKit.
I’ve been having my SmartGate pro for a week now and I love it! Not only can I control my garage door using my IPhone, I can just ask Siri to open it for me. No more remote door clicker. With the pro version I’m able to connect to three units. How cool is that?! I like how I was able to scan the QR code and pull up the installation guide, great job on saving paper! Before setting up the unit, make sure to download the app. Also, I recommend you to connect to the Wi-Fi first. Don’t be like me and go straight into installing the unit, I got too eager that I skipped that part. This unit lets you select from a variety of many cameras compatible with SmartGate, fortunately for me, my camera was on their list. The installation process was really simple. This works just as it’s supposed to work. I like the alerts I get on my apple watch and I think its super cool I can add whatever sound I want. It works great with HomeKit. This is a must have item!
- At Ease Personal Care Home2023-03-30It'll change your life, once you get it up and running
Now that I've got it up and running and connected to Alexa, I love it, absolutely, no reservations love it. The ability to tell Alexa to open and close the Driveway Gate is fantastic and in inclement weather it is so much more. Been working with it for several weeks now and so far it's been reliable and consistent. My only beef is that I've been unable to get IFTTT to work, but that may have nothing to do with the product itself. Had a major problem getting it up and running, could not get the Ismartgate controller to recognize the gate sensor, so while I was able to open and close the gate with the app, Alexa would fail and even the app could not tell whether the gate was open or closed. With the help of tech support, I was able to figure out that they had sent dead batteries in the sensor, soon as I changed the batteries everything came online, I can control the gate with the app, online web access and Alexa. Yes I had control of the gate before with a remote control, but this is the way to gate was supposed to have been designed to work.
- Vaino2022-01-16Not too Smart - Needs software updated, and some actual technical support information
I really wanted to like the product. It does work, but has many issues. 1. Requires a "Reboot" / Power off /On regularly. - Cannot connect via the Android app regularly. Five bars of signal on the wifi with both phone and device. Rebooting fixes for a few day. Answer from Support? Upgrade Firmware to V1.66. Great idea, but nothing on the "Support" section has any information on where to get either the software, nor the firmware to update. There is a file for windows on the "old" site, but no firmware to go with it. The website is a mess of random versions of the product. Finally found unit IS on V1.66. 2. App is "Basic" at best. Only function for the full screen application is a toggle slide to "Open/Close". Setup button only give you the ability to login, again, or add another gate. No ability to change anything. Visually it looks like it was built by a high-school developer as their first app. Want it to be smart, make it available as an applet, with just the open/close. I don't need half a page of a picture of a generic gate. 3. SmartThings - It does NOT work with Smartthings, as it doesn't report that it is Open, only leaves you in a permanent state of "opening". So you can open it, but not ever close it. You have to go back to the ISmartGate app to close the gate. Not useful. 6 Month update. No better. Any internet hiccup causes the unit to got non-responsive. Requiring unplugging the unit. You would think it would be smart enough to re-esstablish a connection to WiFi. The unit has full five bars of signal. The GE Smartswitch 50 feet farther away goes without interruption. This company needs to spend more time on support and product, and less on marketing.
- Thelastamerican2021-10-16Nice item.
Device is smaller than depicted in images, which is a good thing, because there really isn’t items in the photos with which to judge the items true size prior to purchase.
- Vicky J. Ballester2022-07-18So far my favorite smart device
I love the fact that it is working with Alexa and my phone!!!! It’s probably the best smart device we have at home to open our gate! The only issue I have and that’s why it’s all 5 stars - it was difficult to setup because the instructions are very limited and the customer service is ONLY via email - that’s awful!!!! I would like to speak with someone - it would’ve have made things much quicker and smoother in being able to setup - I’m still waiting for a phone call which I keep requesting via email - finally spoke with someone - wonderful very helpful - am actually changing to 5 stars because it truly is worthy of a 5 star review - updated my review to 5 star
- FMA1242020-12-28Quick set up and works with HomeKit
So far so good - this took 20 min to set up and the unit is working outside in the snow and cold so far (in the gate controller box). This is responsive and accurate so far. Great product that works with HomeKit!!
- Dmitry K.2019-12-11A Good HomeKit Compatible Garage Door Controller
I have had this thing running and installed for a few months now and it has been running without any issues. I ran into one major issue however, getting this thing into working order was some what of a challenge. The instructions recommend just adhering onto the garage door opener itself using the provided sticky pads. This did not work for me because the device would interfere with the antenna on my garage door opened and my normal clicker remotes would stop functioning. I ended up having to buy some much longer wires and wiring this thing into a spot that was a good distance away from my garage door open so I could continue to use the clicker remote and this device as well. Another issue I ran into was placement of the garage door sensor. Although this is totally the fault of my wonky house, it was difficult to find a place to put the sensor because my garage door does not sit totally flush with the wall in the garage. However, I contacted support and they were more than willing to help me out and even sent me a new sensor. Because of how great the support was I’m giving this review 5 stars instead of 4!
- Bienaime2022-07-22Great product but?
I installed two of this Wi-Fi remote controller at two different locations. Installation is easy if you follow the instructions. Product works great with Wi-Fi, we added several users and get rid of the multiple remote devices that we had to keep track off. However, after six months both controllers failed not the bridge but the gate or door identifier. Replaced batteries no success. Now I am really disappointed.
- Eric2020-10-24It's not thick or sheer.. what the?
It IS great though. Still running it through it's IFTTT paces, but it appears to be able to turn my (modern) 1980s Radio clicker opened gate into the early 2000s with control *over the interwebs* you'll want to add it to various things though, it works quickly with Alexa, you can set your gate to open by your geo location (Now we're in the 2020s! Automation is better than "I can open my gate from a different country") Oddly and awesomely it tells me the temperature. I live somewhere where I have a gate. This means there is a very high chance that my nearest weather station isn't near enough to be reliable. The difference between freezing pipes and business as usual, even over my property is often high localized and this gives me another location to have a known variable on this.
