This thermostat is one of the sleeker ones I’ve tried. I’ve had Ecobee and Nest, both of which had a bunch of useless functionalities that were simply “fluff”. This Amazon thermostat has all the smart functionality, without all the unnecessary stuff. It was easy to install/configure, set my schedule, and let it do its thing. The price point? Unmatched, and it’s not even close. The display is perfect for minimalists, displaying the only information needed out a thermostat; the temp setting. I don’t need it to show me the weather on page 3, I have Alexa set with push notifications for that.

Very easy install, especially if you use the Alexa app. Like the ability to control remotely and use with Alexa routines. Makes it easy for guests to adjust temp using Alexa voice controls. Not sure how accurate the energy dashboard is but it’s easy to use the AC FLA and the thermostat energy time function to calculate energy usage and cost. The refurbished unit comes with 1 year warranty and is a great value when on sale

Super easy and app was user friendly. Labels and step by step instructions. Only downsides on app.... It times out quickly and cant come back to where it stopped easily. So had to re-input some information more than once. No QR/Barcode to scan but the wifi connection worked like a charm

Broken unit: let me explain! I purchased this Amazon certified thermostat as it was cheaper of a new one. I thought, why not try it. I am currently in the process of building my home into a smart home and really enjoy the ease of use on Amazon products. I installed the Honeywell C wire adapter onto my furnace. Then installed the thermostat onto the wall by following Amazon’s thorough steps in the Alexa app. Upon plugging the thermostat into the wall my furnace started automatically (which is a good sign as the circuit was complete), but the thermostat did not say “set”. Indicating it wasn’t getting power, or so a form said. I read multiple forms, used Alexa’s FAQ section while setting up, watched countless videos… nothing. Then, I contacted amazon customer support and provided the serial number of the certified unit. They were unable to help but referred me to Resideo smart thermostat support line I spoke with an agent and we problem solved the unit. Using a multimeter to check power (24-30V) between the R wire and all other wires. I had correct voltage both on the furnace and on the wall where the thermostat was connected. We concluded that the unit was receiving power thus the furnace starting but that the display was defective. I was unable to complete set up. I had to re-wire the old unit back to the furnace and the wall. Let me say that was awful doing it twice or forward and backwards for a lack of better words. I am returning the unit and purchasing a brand new one. I really hope this doesn’t happen again.

When I first installed it I was having problems with the app connecting to the thermostat, but now it’s running fine. Have to jump my own C wire in the attic but was easy enough if you’re handy. If you aren’t please hire someone or look into the C wire power adapter they sell for this.

I’d been holding off on buying this thermostat for quite some time based on reviews and even considered other pricier brands for the same reason but I finally decided to give it a try because I’m sick of having to go over to the thermostat and manually adjust it (first world problem right?) I am so pleased with my decision that immediately after installing it, I bought this renewed unit to replace our second thermostat upstairs. Installation was easy and took about 15-20 minutes to install and set up in the app. The unit mounts with 3 screws and anchors, a small screwdriver tool and an optional wall plate. A word of advice - use a better screwdriver because the included tool isn’t great. You’ll also need a drill with a 3/8” bit to assist with the wall anchors. This renewed unit is just as good as the new one I purchased at half the cost! It came with new mounting hardware and when comparing side by side, I could not tell you which one was which. I’d absolutely make the same decision to purchase the renewed unit again. Some of the reviews I’d read in the past mentioned that people had trouble with the app recognizing two thermostats, that was not the case at all with me. It was extremely easy to differentiate in the app and just as easy to control each one. Another review that made me worry about buying this thermostat was that you couldn’t simply tell your Alexa device to adjust the temperature, and that you had to open the app to make adjustments. This problem must have been resolved or a solitary issue because ours works just fine with voice commands. This thermostat does not offer a sensor option to monitor a particular room or area, so if you’re looking for that, you may need to look at other options. As far as smart settings, you have two options. Alexa can learn your routines and track your phone’s location to adjust the temperatures accordingly when you’re home or away. This works best when everyone in the household connects to the app and consents to tracking. It will even adjust the temperature to your desired settings when you’re within a certain range of your home. If this option isn’t for you, it will allow you to set schedules and desired temperature ranges throughout each day of the week. But you’re still able to log into the app and make adjustments when needed.

This is my second Azn Smart Stat in 4 months, 2 different (residential) locations. Ist one, flawlessly perfect (installed a few months ago), zero issues. Know that I am a state A licensed mechanical contractor, HVAC for 40+ years as well as a degreed mechanical engineer. This new thermostat installed today, is identical to the 1st, flawless. Not sure is worth the full price (which keeps going up, but fifty bucks retail is ok for the average homeowner). But contractors purchase bulk wholesale, so retail always feels OUCH :) You must have a common wire to operate this device ( this means 5 conductors min), ie: R=24v, C=common, W= heat, G=fan, Y = A/C, also this stat is heat pump compatible, in which case you use Orange for reversing valve solenoid (RVS), and W2 for emergency heat. Also works with remote sensors (for outside temperature reporting). Easy Peasy. Disconnect power from the air handler, Install on wall (away from direct sunlight, preferably near a return air grill), aprox 60in above floor), wire sub base correctly (per above details), snap T stat in place. Turn power back on, T stat illuminates "SET" appears, open Alexa on Android or IPhone, select Thermostat, touch hold the center ring on the Tstat at LEAST 10 seconds, follow instructions, Alexa guides the connection to your WiFi, follow prompts, self test, questions, in a few minutes , completed. I just don't know why folks are complaining. Blaming technical ignorance/incompetence on the device? NOTE1: be sure: 1. the wiring is correct and complete (if you have a voltmeter, verify 24VAC between the Red wire and the Common [whatever color you used for it]. 2. that the mounting screws are all snug and securely tightened to the wall, AND the screw heads are buried, finished tightly into the plastic mounting plate indentions (as not to interfere with the Tstat clipping into its place ont the sub base). 3. BE SURE to turn power off when wiring and assembling. Turn power (24V) back on when completely finished with the wiring and assembly. NOTE2 : the Amazon ad was for certified refurb, T stat delivered was new, and the final receipt from Amazon stated "new". Pleased how this turned out. EM May2024

Easy to install. but then after setting up a schedule it never stuck to it. It was hours off and was never consistent. Read all kinds of reviews online that I wish I had seen before buying - it has always had problems! Even the tech forums on amazon would not address these issues. Finally someone suggested uninstalling the Alexa app and reinstalling it with a new one and that worked. (I don't know why updating the app didn't work, but it never updated - the new version was completely different and updated looking)

If you old thermostat doesn't have batteries, and you have an LCD already displaying the temperature, you should be fine. This means you have a common wire, and the blue wire is already there in the wall plate terminal. My thermostat was old and I didn't have any digital display. When I finally was able to get the infamous 24v common wire from a new transformer I purchased, I used a spare wire that was already there behind the wall. After tapping the plastic face it a few times, the display came on. Configuring it was easy afterwards. I really loved thing thing but Sadly, it died a few days later... I am buying another one. I had to purchase a transformer that was acting up. Hopefully that's not your case.

My only warning: on your AC/Furnace you might need to switch from a 3amp fuse to a 5amp. Super easy to buy one. I figured it just blew during install even though I turned of the power but the I blew out a second 3 Amp before I installed a 5amp and now it works great. Including a photo of the thermostat dashboard from my app. Now that it's connected I can just move the range around as I see fit so its super easy to use after installation.
