Overall I'm very happy with it. I've used it a couple times now and it seems to work well. Not sure yet how well it will hold up long term. Setting up the wi-fi and pairing the unit with my phone went reasonably easy. I'm sure my grandkids could have done it with their eyes closed, but for us older folks not steeped in this technology, it took a little bit of effort. The written directions actually made it seem much more difficult than it really was. But I managed to do it and so will you. My only complaint or concern is that the plugs that plug into the back of the unit are not secure. They fall out if you look at them cross-eyed. If you don't move anything, you're fine. But if they get the slightest bit jostled, you'll be pushing them in again and looking for that sweet pot where they stay put.

I bought this wifi model to replace a Inkbird Bluetooth model I’ve been using for 5 years. Both work well, big benefit with the WiFi model is I no longer get disconnect alarms if I’m working in the front yard while I have a cook going on in the backyard, nor do I have to stress over the temp if I have to run out to the store or anywhere else! Strong magnet allows me to secure it to the leg of my BGE Nest. Bonus is the app also connects to my sous vide water circulator (also Inkbird). Set up was simple, app is user friendly, backlight is bright and temps are displayed large numbers making it easy to glance at the temp from across the deck if I’m not using the app. Battery life seems great although I haven’t had an opportunity to use it on a long cook, I don’t anticipate any issues since the Bluetooth model still holds plenty of charge even after 5 years. Probe was within two degrees of my ThermoPop right out of the box, the app makes for easy calibration of all four probes independently. The sockets for the probes have a nice rubber seal that looks like it will keep water out, and the whole thing feels like it’s built solidly. Very pleased with this upgrade!

Over the last decade or more, I've had a clutch of various BBQ thermometers, including several that had some sort of remote unit. None worked very well or lasted very long. None provided any range that allowed me to cook in the kitchen or be far enough away to know with confidence that my food or my smoker/BBQ wasn't at the right temperature. I recently bought an Inkbird ITC-308 Digital Temperature Controller 2-Stage Outlet Thermostat to use as part of a bread proofer oven hack. I was so impressed with that unit, that I found other uses for it (cold smoking, hot smoking, BBQ temperature control (via airflow control and fan). I especially liked the ability to use the app, and program independent actions for each of the outlets (turn on/off 2 powered devices based on the information I specify). When my most recent BBQ temperature monitor finally quit working, I came to Amazon and searched for "Inkbird BBQ Thermometer," and I was pleased to discover Inkbird had several models to pick from. I chose this one, based on its features (mainly the WiFi and the 4 independent probes), its high customer ratings/comments and my previous experience with their products. I also bought an extra "oven probe" and a matching case for it. I received everything, charged it up and have had numerous successful BBQ, smoker and oven cooks, relying on it to monitor oven/BBQ/smoker temperatures and multiple items being cooked (including mixed meats). I like the app very much and use both its pre-programmed functions (both for oven/BBQ cooking temperatures and meat doneness temperatures) and its custom settings and alarms. I especially like how the app graphs temperatures; it's helped me accurately predict when some of those 10 or 12 hour roasts are going to hit the target temperature. It is kinda cool to be at the market miles away and be able to check on my BBQ cook -- more than once, I've called one of my kids and said, "Hey, please toss another piece of oak in the BBQ's firebox for me, kiddo!" I have recommended this unit to several friends, and at least 2 have bought them since -- we "gush" over this thing when we talk, and we hope once this COVID crude goes away to drink beers at our next BBQ party while raving about our Inkbird to our other friends. -- Mine suddenly developed a problem with 2 of the 4 probe ports. In short, #1 and #2 quit working during a long cook where I transitioned from the BBQ/smoker to finish up in the oven. The issue was brought to my attention by the app, which notified me the oven was out of the temperature range. I was surprised to discover no temperature readings for the 2 probes. I switched the probes to #3 and #4, and I immediately got results. I finished the cook, enjoyed a great meal, and later that night looked at the unit again. The problem persisted. I tried to power cycle it and a few other things, but the problem kept occurring. Bummer. I reached out to Inkbird for their recommendations, hoping there was some reset option or secret app function I might use to reboot or otherwise get things working. They got back to me quickly (despite it being the Christmas weekend) and asked me to answer a few questions and send some pics, which I did. One of their staff and I exchanged a half dozen emails within the same hour. In the end, the customer service representative said they'd send me a replacement unit. I can't explain why my unit developed a problem. These things seem very well built and the unit is rugged. I didn't knock it around or drop it. I'm super-pleased with Inkbird's response. I feel their customer service is first-rate, like their products. I will continue to recommend this and other Inkbird products to my friends, knowing they stand behind their products with a level of customer service that matches the quality of their products. I'm adding an Inkbird Waterproof Instant Read Thermometer IHT-1P and case to my cart. I'm a fanboy of Inkbird now. I'm going to support them in the only two ways I know how: 1) recommending/reviewing and 2) buying their products. I hope you'll do the same.

My Review of the Inkbird WiFi Grill Meat Thermometer IBBQ-4T with the 4 Colored Probes This is the best wireless meat temperature probe I've ever used! But I need to add that this my first one of this type. Everything was nicely packed, first thing you need to do is plug it in to charge it, it takes a bit of time for a full charge. Set up was really easy just download the INKBIRD APP and followed the instructions to connect to my 2.4ghz WiFi with the iphone. Did an Ice water test on all probes and calibrated them to bring each probe to 32°, then did the boiling water test to 212°. The IBBQ-4T has really changed my game. It has 4 separate probes for monitoring different heat zones, so on a roast, I could put one in the middle for a rare cut and then one on each end for a more well done piece, or on different pieces of meat on the grill and monitor their temperatures independently of one another. The thermometer is incredibly easy to use as is the app on my iPhone via Wi-Fi. I can monitor the temperature of my outside grill from the comfort of my living room, or wherever, this is a huge convenience. The battery life is very good, during multiple uses, the battery lasted about 45 hours. Other contributors have said that you are able use the thermometer while charging it in the event you do somehow run out of battery power, this I have not tried. It’s nice that I don’t have to worry about replacing batteries since this unit is rechargeable. Another favorite is that the back is magnetic so you can have it stick to the outside grill’s side, or the oven in the kitchen. Like another review mentioned, I notice that the colored silicon on the probes get discolored during cooking, but a little light scrubbing got them back to where the colors were easy to see, time will tell if the cleaning continues to do the job. A minor complaint I have is that the temperature alarms seems to always be going off, I have turned off as many as possible, monitoring the temperature on my iPhone works best. The INKBIRD App is decent, creating an account, setting up the IBBQ-4T device and finally monitoring was easy and straightforward. Overall, I am very happy with the IBBQ-4T and would recommend it without hesitation or reservation to anyone looking for a unique multi-temperature probe.
- J. Currier2023-06-26No app alarm when temp is reached!
URDATE 7/27/23 I wrote my initial review after testing the functionality bu not actually grilling meat. Did a pork butt last weekend and all worked well EXCEPT the most important thing: an alarm. This app only sends a push notification when the target temp is hit - one ding at best. Thankfully I was watching closely and saw them. When I got to the grill the base unit was beeping like crazy, letting my neighbors know the meat was done! Wanted to send it back but I waited too long. I have another Bluetooth unit very similar to this that I like a lot, but the remote unit is only good for the Bluetooth range. I wanted something that I could monitor over Wi-Fi so I could use it remotely on my phone from anywhere. This until fits the bill and works good. I like having the 4 probes which allows multiple settings for things like different cuts of meat, or vegetables, or even monitoring the temperature of the grill with the included grill clip. The different colored probe grips also helps to easily keep track of which probe is which. Since this unit’s settings are similar to the one I currently use, it was easy to set up the temp settings and alarms after getting it synced to the phone. After downloading the app to my phone there was a paring process that did not go well for me. At first I thought it was because we have a dual band Wi-Fi system - the Eero mesh, which uses both 5mhz and 2.44mhz bands. This unit works ONLY on the 2.44mhz bandwidth. After failing to pair twice, I found a setting on the Eero that pauses the 5mhz system for a few minutes so you can overcome just this problem. After doing that I was able to get the unit paired to my Wi-Fi and the app started working on my phone. From there, everything is done on the app except to turn on and off the temp probe unit that sits near the grill. The app is fairly straight forward and doesn’t have a lot of features so it’s easy to use. One feature that my other unit doesn’t have is the temperature history that shows the progress of the temperature over the time of the cook. This could be useful for gauging how long a similar cook will take in the future. It is not dynamic, however, so you have to go in and out of the history page for it to update the history - so you can’t watch it progress in real time if you sit on the history page. Overall I’m very pleased with this unit and think it’s reasonably priced for the functions it provides. It meets my needs and I recommend it for simple remote temperature monitoring.
- Mitchell2020-12-02Very well designed but needs the app for full effect
This thermometer comes in a very sleek box and is stylish and feels well built but not necessarily durable. The probes plug into the bottom and the ports have silicone dust covers which are very nice. The magnetic back is a very nice feature and fairly strong. I stuck it nearby my grill and it didn’t move in the several hours I used it. This thermometer does not require the app to use, but it really where you get what you pay for. The app syncs fairly easily to the thermometer and I haven’t experienced any connection issues. In the app are a lot of helpful features like alarms and recommended temperatures and such. A couple years ago, I purchased the ThermoPro TP-08 which is great in its own way but only has two probes, one for ambient temperature and one for the food. I like the ruggedness of the ThermoPro better as I’ve dropped it a couple times trying to carry too much as everything comes out of the oven or off the grill. I really like the magnet feature from this InkBird thermometer though and it makes it feel sturdy in its own way even though I don’t recommend dropping it. The displays on both thermometers are essentially the same, an orange backlight, black text displaying the current temps. The ThermoPro comes in two pieces. A receiver and a transmitter which the probes plug into. The range isn’t great, but it mostly stays connected to about 100 feet. The InkBird stays connected well past that but I’m not sure of the range limits. The InkBird uses a USB cable to recharge the batteries compared to AAA batteries for the ThermoPro. I really like the rechargeable feature and the battery life is incredibly long, I’ve used it for more than 12 hours and the battery icon still shows mostly full. The app for the InkBird has many more features than the ThermoPro is designed for which is incredibly helpful but it really is necessary to get the full effect of the InkBird thermometer. Without the app, it’s a nice, accurate 4-probe thermometer but there are simpler options than this. Overall though, I love this thermometer. It does everything that my previous one did and a lot more.

This meat thermometer rocks, connects to the wifi and I could check my temp on my brisket when I wasn't home. The product is boxed up like a brand new phone. Everything is pristine. It comes with usb-c cord, 4 probes that have excellent braiding and the monitor itself. If you have InkBird products and the app, the set up is super easy. Soon as I turned it on, my app recognized it in a flash, added device and I was ready to rock. You can set alarms, track temp time lines and everything. it was nice to leave and do things while I smoked a brisket. I used 2 probes, one on the thin side and one on the thick side. I added a few pics, some reason my picture of the finished brisket didn't take but I do have a pic of it sliced. My slicing is horrible because ot just fell apart lmao. This is a must have.
- Justin B.2020-05-21Want wifi but don't want to buy a new pellet grill? This is your solution!
Edit: 1.5 year update The notifications got sorted out long ago and the thermometer is still working great. Still highly recommended. Edit: 9 month update Still happy with the thermometer, but Android 11 screwed up my notification settings and I can't get them to work consistently. Not an Inkbird issue. Edit: 6 month update I'm still very happy with the Inkbird WIfi. I have used it on several briskets, pork butts, and my first smoked turkey for Thanksgiving. I ran into a small issue when I upgraded my WiFi to a mesh system; the Inkbird uses your phone to set the Wifi and it will not work if your phone is connected to a 5GHz wifi network; the Inkbird can only use 2.4GHz. The solution was to walk further away from my house until my phone switched to the 2.4GHz connection and then do the setup. Since that hiccup, I have had no issues and my thermometer seems to have a better wifi connection. I have been using the BBQ-4T app, not the generic Inkbird one. I recently purchased a pellet grill and dove into the world of smoking and long and low cooks. My grill has 2 built in probes, but it is not wifi enabled and I wanted to be able to monitor my cooks from my phone. This unit is the easy solution. The unit itself appears well made and has 4 different colored probes. I like the colored probes; no more trying to trace the probe wires to figure out which temperature you are checking. Pairing to my phone was easy, although I had to exit the app and reopen it after pairing for the device to show up. I did not use InkBird's smarthome app; there is an app specific to the IBBQ-4t that I would recommend you use. After pairing, I calibrated the probes with boiling water. The probes each required about 1.5 degree offset. The battery life is very good; in my test the battery lasted approximately 47 hours. You can also use the thermometer while charging if you do somehow run out of battery. Temps were stable and in line with my instant read thermometers. I liked how I was able to set different temperature parameters/alarms for each probe using the app. The thermometer comes with 2 "grill grate" attachments and I used one probe to monitor the grill temperature and make sure that I didn't have a flame out or other issue that if left unfixed, could cause a food safety issue. I tested the responsiveness of the app by creating an alarm for a specific temperature point and then heating up the probe above that point. The app alerted me at the desired temperature within seconds, no matter if my phone was on wifi or cellular data. I also made some suggestions for improving the app and was told that they will be implemented in the future. I did 2 long cooks with IBBQ-4T, ribs and brisket. For the ribs, I only used it to monitor grill temps. I did the brisket overnight and set the grill probe to alert me if the temp got too high (grease or pellet dust fire) or too low (flame out due to wind, ran out of pellets, etc). I put probes in both the flat and the point and was able to check progress easily. I set a few different alarm points throughout the cook and was quickly notified whenever that specific probe hit that temp. The only issue I ran into during my overnight cook was that I moved my grill to a different position than I normally use it in (wanted it even further away from the house just in case!) and didn't have good wifi reception. I can't fault the thermometer for that; it's a function of my house layout, construction, and where my router is located. I moved the grill about 10 feet, had rock-sold reception, and had no issues throughout my 16 hour cook. Like another review mentioned, I did notice that the colored silicon on the probes got discolored during the cooks, but a little scrubbing got them back to where the colors were easily distinguishable. Overall, I am very happy with the IBBQ-4T and would recommend it without reservation to anyone looking to up their thermometer game.
- S in C2022-11-09Excellent!
I've been cooking BBQ and smoking meat for more than 15 years. I’m also somewhat of a gadget-guy and am always looking to up my BBQ cooking arsenal. I have a lot of experience with different thermometers ranging from old-school oven dials, to wireless remote styles, to the newer Bluetooth and Wi-Fi models. The InkBird Wi-Fi IBBQ-4T is the best that I’ve found, and it also costs about half the price of other high-end Wi-Fi thermometers. Here are the reasons why I think this is the best Wi-Fi thermometer around: Wi-Fi- If you are new to smoking, or haven’t yet made the stich to Wi-Fi, this is an absolute game changer. Gone are the days of needing to stay within range to keep tabs on a cook. You can monitor temps from literally anywhere you have cellphone service. The freedom that this provides can’t be overstated. Don’t get me wrong, I love sitting on the patio smoking BBQ, but I also have obligations and things to take care of. Keeping an eye on how my brisket is coming along while I’m watching my son’s soccer game is incredibly handy. The cool points I get when I casually check the temp my ribs while I’m out mountain biking with friends is the type of thing that’ll put a little swagger in your step. Even if you’re not comfortable leaving the house while cooking, the elimination of dead spots that you have with Bluetooth and wireless units is a huge improvement. Setup- This is an area where Inkbird really stands out. Setup was very easy. My six-year-old daughter was with me while I was unboxing, and she actually did most of the setup with a little guidance from me. We just followed the instructions, and everything worked. It was that easy. User interface- I found the platform to be very intuitive and easy to use. In just a few minutes I was able to figure out how to get the unit to do everything that I wanted, such as set high and low alerts for my cooking temperature, as well as setting a finish temp for the meat that I’m cooking. Creating my own custom temps and ranges was very fast and easy as well. Anyone who’s tried to do this using the older wireless remote models will greatly appreciate the ease of setup that you get using this app. Accuracy- Having the ability to calibrate individual probes is a huge benefit, although all probes were spot on when tested in an ice bath and boiling water. I was surprised by the responsiveness of the probes. They are within a couple seconds of my ready check thermometer, which is impressive. In a pinch you could use one of these probes to spot check the temp of something, although that’s not really what this is designed for. Fit and Finish- this is another area where the InkBird Wi-Fi IBBQ-4T really shines. The build of the central unit itself is sleek and sturdy. Weather resistant ports and a magnetized base make life easier. Color coded probes help to keep things organized when setting up for a cook. The probes are just the right size- not so long that they take up valuable real estate in the cook chamber, but not so short that they can’t get an accurate reading on a large cut of meat. The 90-degree elbow on the probes is also a nice improvement over the earlier Inkbird models. Final thoughts- whether you’re new to BBQ and looking for a thermometer that will set you up for success, or a well-seasoned smoker (sorry, I couldn’t resist) who’s looking to up their BBQ game by making things more streamlined and convenient, the InkBird Wi-Fi IBBQ-4T should be at the very top of your list of thermometers. It has all the advanced features that you get with the higher end Wi-Fi thermometers on the market. It does everything as well or better than the competition and does so at a more competitive price-point. I’m very happy with the InkBird Wi-Fi IBBQ-4T and I’d definitely recommend it to others without hesitation.
- Kim Hanson2024-07-06Won't grill without it!
This thermometer set is amazing! We frequently smoke several different things at once so the multiple probes were exactly what we’ve needed. We also tested the ambient temperature of the grill against the built-in thermometer of the grill/smoker. In short, the grill/smoker thermometer read slightly different early on in the cook, but as everything evened out, so did the comparison between the two. I hate to admit that our smoker gets used A LOT and that built-in thermometer is probably pretty dirty and takes longer to reach an accurate temp. We also tested these probes against our trusty old probe (which has now been given to a friend because we solely use the InkBird one now). What I really liked about it was that we didn’t have to keep opening the grill to insert the probe. When you are cooking multiple things with one probe, you just cannot get around opening the grill. This saves you having to get the grill/smoker back up to temp since there is no need to open the cover! The display is easy to read. We tested the alerts on the app as well as tested the app about 4 miles away while we were at the store. We watched the app closely and got alerted to the alarm temp that was set with no problem. The app was on our phone that doesn’t have 5g so we didn’t see any issues like what was reported in other reviews but I also cannot speak to if it works on a 5g phone either. Everything seems quality too (case, unit, probes, etc)
