- Joel K.2024-04-02Not accurate. Difficult to connect.
Not worth the money. It's terribly difficult to get the components to connect, and when they do it took 2-3 DAYS! What???? What kind of wifi device takes DAYS to connect? I have light bulbs that connect immediately and Alexa even sees them connected and connects them to my Alexa devices. The wind meter is really off and I'm not even sure I'm going to set up the rain meter. Seems like a total dud overall. I asked for technical support and all they did was tell me I didn't have the right model number. Overall, garbage.
- Sparky2024-01-02Needs internet for full function
This unit has a great display and was easy to set up once I figured it had to be set up on 2.4 WiFi system. It will not complete hookup on 5g WiFi. It has a lot of features that will only work if hooked up to your WiFi so if you don't want to use the app and set it up the full function doesn't work. It has started displaying moon phase and sunlight which is always blinking on and off on the time bar. I don't like that so I had to factory reset and not hook it up to the internet. I haven't contacted support to see if it is possible to change the moon and sunlight so it doesn't function and still have the other displays worked hooked up.

I bought this one day blindsided. I knew I didn't need another weather station but what's one more going to do. After a week of moving the screen around, I decided to put it in my bedroom and set it to the auto dim feature which was cool. It dims very dark and doesn't light up a whole room at night unlike others. I don't use the app but it's set up. My only complaint that I have, is the rain gauge gets blocked by snow and doesn't work until I clean it out. I wish I knew more about how to properly install it and use it too. I will say that this was a good purchased that I have made. I will recommend it.

I was unsure of the 3-separate components because others have one combined array of components. It really is an advantage though. The temp/hygrometer is mounted north facing and shaded so the sun has little effect. The wind speed is mounted elevated and the rain gauge can be permanently mounted or moved around. I am thinking I might use it to determine garden watering levels since the data can be reset. Each component communicated with the console as soon as I installed the batteries except the wind gauge. I thought I had a defective unit until I setup the Wifi and it communicated. The the product literature indicated it could operate as a stand-alone unit, which wasn't my experience. The app was easy to use and after spending time getting my phone to switch from 5G to 2.4G I realized the APP tells you how to do it. The console display is a bit small, but has good resolution and the various colors of the information are good. Overall I would recommend this unit for anyone interested in their local weather conditions.

It does work well with the exception of the rain gauge. The rain gauge only worked for 5 weeks before it quit functioning. Easy to read and adjust settings. Very good for the money.
- OK2023-09-09Best Customer Service
The weather station is well made. The screen is easy to read and well layed out. Weather readings are accurate based on comparison with other nearby devices. The separate instruments (temperature, wind, and rain) enable you to place them in the most appropriate locations. In my case that is especially important with the temperature sensor. It absolutely needs to be located out of direct sun. Summer temps here can reach 115-120 degrees and the sun radiating on a combined weather station monitoring package increases the temp reading by about 5 degrees due to heat loading on the plastic shell. I tried 3 other. Randy’s before deciding in the La Crosse. Their customer service is definitely the best that I’ve experienced. You can actually talk to someone who is knowledgeable and willing to help.

The first weather station I had was an all-in-one from La Crosse. I bought it because it was on sale and I thought it might be fun to see how "correct" Google is. Turns out, not that correct. It is so nice to know how hot or cold it is in MY BACKYARD. We lost our first one when we had a heatwave that reached 119 in our backyard, sigh, no wonder it broke. Anyways, we bought this one to replace our melted one and really enjoy the rain catch as well as the moveable temp meters. We have had this for a few months now and it is part of our morning and night check ins. I highly recommend. For those who are curious, we are in Portland Oregon.
- Xefier2024-05-20Decent for the price, but here's some tips
Posting this for a few tips / things to know: - The temperature will spike up and down sometimes, which is unfortunate, giving a false reading for the daily high or low - Mine started beeping randomly, even though "Beep" is off in the settings, and I did change the batteries of every device connected to it. I ended up cutting the speaker out; to do this, unscrew the four screws around the back case, you will then need to pry the top part off (it is glued shut), and then cut the two metal connectors to the the black circular item labeled "BUZZ" with a little hole in the middle. No more beeps. - The screen on this is not as bright as the 83100, but is serviceable. I recommend the all-in-ones from La Crosse for a more reliable experience (e.g., the V42-PRO-INT). - Their customer service is very good, and they have very informative YouTube videos, and are willing to replace faulty parts without too much hassle. Good luck!
- ANP2022-05-14Poorly designed for people with vision issues and poor customer service
I just purchased this weather station since it had all of the features I wanted (and more nice ones). Setup is not the easiest thing since the instructions coming with the device are minimal, and finding the manual on the company web site is a bit of a challenge since the site itself is badly organized with not easy to navigate. I tried to call customer service to get some help in setup and was on hold. Finally, the message was they were too busy to take calls so leave a number and I'd get a callback quite soon. I did that three days ago and no callback. And I know I gave my phone number clearly since I am careful not only to speak slowly, but I repeated the number. I finally figured out to set things up and the information given is great. However, the display has real issues in that a number of the colors do not have high contrast with the background and are hard to see, even on the maximum brightness setting. Moreover, having taught about color blindness for many years, I realized that a color blind person probably would not even see some of the numbers. I found where to email the manufacturer on the web site, and wrote asking if the colors could be changed, and suggested that the colors are less than accessible for some people. I received an answer, but it was one line saying the colors could not be changed, and clearly not caring about the accessibility issue. My overall assessment is that the weather station is pretty good, and the price was great, but one should not count on customer service or tech support.
- Geoffrey Niswander2023-03-26Good weather station
I’ve had mine now for a few months. So far, all is well, no glitches to report. It does what it says. The interior house temp matches the one on the Honeywell thermostat exactly. So either both are spot on, or they’re both uncalibrated in the same way, what are the chances? So I assume the exterior temp is also spot on. It reads 3-4 degrees cooler than what our cars outside thermometers read, those are not known for good accuracy. The display is good, easy to see, but not too bright either. Overall I’d give this station a solid thumbs up. It’s easy to see the readings from far away using my phone, but it did take a few minutes of exploring the app to figure out how to see the various sensor readings. Good product, yes I’d recommend.
