I put it next to another mat that I have that is exactly 1 inch thick (white one in the photo). The beige mat (to the left) that I got is about half the thickness of it. A little bummed because it was advertised as 1 inch thick, but overall it's soft. I give it 3 stars for that reason.

We have hardwood floors throughout the house so I picked this large playpen mat up because sometimes I just want to lay on the floor. I was hopeful that it would be something more than some cheap pieces of material sewn together and by golly the stars were aligned right! This mat is SOFT and COMFORTABLE, so much so that I feel asleep on it when I was trying it out! It’s like a nice velvety texture and not some crazy pile that would get all matted down. You will need to steam it to get the wrinkles out of it from the vacuum packing. I have a large steamer, and since I’ve never steamed a mat before I was a little overzealous in the beginning and really saturated one corner, but figured it out with the rest. BTW this is not a waterproof pad, I found that out after over soaking that corner. I picked it up off the floor and it was dried by morning. I absolutely loved this mat and would feel safe with toddlers using it for when they’re learning how to stand.
