    Great value!

I was very pleasantly surprised with these drill bits. Frankly for the price, I wasn't expecting a lot. However, they are very sharp and well-balanced. I used one of the bits to drill the holes for some knobs in some cabinets I had just finished. The hole was clean and the hole drilled quickly and smoothly. The only reason I'm giving these bits 4 stars instead of five is that the point on one of the drill bits wasn't as well formed as the other bits in the set. However, it's nothing that would prevent the bit from being used. Overall, this is a super value.

Excited to have in the toolbox

I'm excited to have these ready to go. (Priced out and compared to about $12 and up per each long bit from the big box store.) It has come up recently where I needed to drill through a 4x4 and a 2x6 to bolt all the way through on a deck platform. I'm not going to mark down the review for this, but they all measured right at 11 3/4 (not 12 inches). Add a decent grip for the chuck, and the deepest hole you can get out of these is about 11 inches (which should be plenty). It drills nice and clean, I just had to take care to not press and flex too hard, to back it out and clean out the hole often, and to be sure to keep it nice and level. It is great that they included duplicates of the smaller bits just in case. I also like the handy old-school vinyl hanging pouch.

good extra long brad point bits but not super precise or super concentric

These bits drill well and are better centered than many I've tried. The 12" length allows through-drilling long pieces easily and from one end. The points on some of the bits are nearly perfectly centered and on others, are off by as much as 3/64". The flutes and cutting edges also vary a little in how centered they are to the shank of the drill. I think that for most uses, these are well within the range of acceptable but if drilling to close tolerances or trying to get a snug fit on an insert or tube (like in a pen) some bits work better than others within the set - the 1/2" bit in my set is almost perfect. Drilling a hole through the body of a lamp, where the fit is slightly less critical was no problem at all. This is a really inexpensive set but actually much better than many more expensive bits I've bought recently.

    You'll Need One... Eventually

These drill bits are a foot long. Perfect for boring deep holes or getting into hard to reach areas. The brad point enables you to position the bit with pinpoint accuracy, but I wouldn't recommend them for drilling through most metals. They can be used with a drill press or a hand drill, but if you're using a hand drill, you'll probably want to use a drill guide to prevent the bit from wandering off course. These won't be a daily driver for most people, but you'll sure as heck be happy you have one when the time inevitably comes.

If you do woodworking... get these 12-inch bits.

I have many brad point bits and one of the most important factors to determine quality is "how well is point centered". These bits are all quite well centered. They are not perfect but more than acceptable for woodworking. If you ever need to bore into a piece wood longer than a few inches, these are a life saver. I have tried using shorter bit and drilling from each end of the work piece but that never seems to work as well I imagined. These are very good bits at a great price... even comes in a very handy pouch. This is important because these will not get as much use as the regular sized bits. I will likely have these bits for the rest of my life.

    No effort drilling

This is a nice set of brad point drills. They are very sharp and cut accurate holes with little pressure. I tried the largest first and it cut clean. I then tried two smaller sizes and forced them some to see if they would bog down. Nope. A little tearing at the holes edge, but I wasn't giving them much of a chance to cut properly. They still cut nice holes and the shavings came right out. I did clean the drills with alcohol before using, to get rid of the protective oil. I will be making an index block for these. I don't like bunching up drills so they can nick up the lands or flutes. They were shipped in a plastic bag inside a plastic box. However, I recommend these on quality and price!

A great replacement set of bits!

Does not have the tiniest, nor the really big drill bits, but it has all the middle sizes you'd need from 1/8th to 1/2 inches. I've grown to love the brad-tipped drill bits, as it increases my accuracy and speed, both at the same time for any through-cut hole. Of course if you're doing a blind-cut (not going all the way through), you'll need to take care to stop a bit short so the brad tip does not ruin the surface of the opposite side of the hole, but a stop-collar does a great job on that part of it. These things are sharp, especially the brad tip! They come in a sturdy plastic box, but I'll be using mine to replenish another set that has individual slots for each size. I also love the "quick-change" function of having the hex shaft -- it's another newer feature that has become my go-to, and these have that feature. They also work extremely well on PVC boards as well as wooden boards.

    Pretty good "Brad point" drills

These arrive loose in a plastic case. The plastic bag inside kept them from damage but be aware that this set does not include an organizer. They were coated with a light oil and there was no sign of rust. I really like that they have hex shanks that can be used in both a hex as well as a standard drill chuck. I tried a few in a laminate wood piece, they are sharp and they cut just like they should. I also appreciate that the set came with an extra bit in the popular 1/8, 5/32 and 3/16 sizes. The "Brad point" type of bit starts and tracks very accurately, produces an almost flat bottom and breaks thru nicely due to the starting point and the type of chips they produce. I gave these 5 stars based on their price / performance. But I would probably pay a little more if the set came with some sort of organizer stand for storage.

Works well, with no noticeable runout

If you do woodworking, you know how frustrating it is to use regular fluted bits, even with a center punch to get things started. Many woodworkers, for this reason, like to use brad point bits. I know I do. As such bits go, these perform well. I didn't notice any runout, and the bits seem very sharp right out of the box. This isn't an index set, but you get a nice range of sizes: 1/8" to 1/2". You get one bit of each size, with the exception of 1/8", 1/4" and 3/16", of which you get two each. All of the bits have 1/4" hex shafts making them suitable for use with impact drivers and some cordless screwdrivers. The bits come in a plastic case that is clearly not intended for storage or travel, as it does not keep the bits separate from one another at all. They are free to bang around against one another during transit, which is not great. If I could ask for one refinement to this set, it would be a better storage tray/box. That being said, since all of the bits have 1/4" hex shafts on them, it shouldn't be too difficult to make a storage tray for them that serves your needs. All in all, a nice set of bits.

    Sharp clean holes

I like to use brad point bits in my woodworking projects. They are easy to center accurately, and when sharp can drill as cleanly as Forstner bits. These bits don’t disappoint. They do exactly what I had hoped. The price is reasonable. The only question is how long they will retain their sharpness. I tested them on hemlock and fir, both of which are relatively soft compared to other varieties I use. Under those conditions, they seem to hold up adequately. If they dull faster than anticipated I will update this review. As it is, I think they offer good value for the price. Full Disclosure: I acquired this as a Vine user. Exceeds expectations significantly, highly recommended purchase.
