- Teresa Pantoja2024-06-23It's ok.
Unfortunately it has one big flaw. That flaw being it doesnt charge right and will bug sometimes.. Left my laptop to charge and came back and whole time it wasnt charging! It just said "power source: power adapter Battery Is Not Charging". Got scared at first and thought it was my laptop, nope! Anyway, I figured out I have to keep unplugging the charger and plugging it back in untill it finally shows the lightning bolt icon. Quite upsetting. Also I use by 35w charging block that came with my MacBook and this should work with it and fast charge my laptop but it doesn't? A cable this fast should be compatible with my fast charging block.

The cable works perfectly in my mac book and I keep it in my car so I can plug in when I travel. Nice to have a 2nd cable and a spare when you need it.

I liked the idea of having an extra MagSafe cable for my MacBook Air, even though I usually just charge through the USB-C port for convenience. The ZeitNah cables come in a variety of colors and I jumped on the chance to get one in the "midnight" color to match my MacBook. Functionally, the cable seems to match Apple's cable. There's a nice LED that displays orange while charging, and green when fully charged. I don't have a way to evaluate the charge rate but the laptop didn't take issue with the cable, in any event. The material feels durable, and while I would still recommend the usual cable tips of trying to avoid strain or friction on the cable, I don't worry that this will be fraying with regular usage. The magnet feels strong enough that the MagSafe won't disconnect from the MacBook just because someone breathed on it, but it disconnects pretty easily, too. Again, functionally similar to Apple's official cable. Visually, "midnight" seems to match my MacBook Air very closely, if not perfectly. ZeitNah made an interesting design decision in making the USB-C connector end white, instead of matching the black color scheme as Apple did. On one hand, if you're using Apple's chargers then it is visually pleasing for the white connector to match the white charger, while the midnight MagSafe end matches the laptop. On the other hand, if you tend to swap connectors between chargers frequently, it's one less visual cue to help you identify which cable is which (although the cord, itself, is colored differently between the different cables). It looks like ZeitNah's black adapter also has a black USB-C connector - the only one of the currently listed colors to do so. As far as value goes, the cost difference between the ZeitNah cable and Apple's official cable is about $15. That's less than you would expect for a third-party cable, but may speak to the quality of this cable. If you're OK with a third-party cable and like the color schemas offered by ZeitNah, this is a cable I feel comfortable recommending.
- Stephen Davis2024-06-24Darn Fine Replacement/Plan B
The ZeitNah cable is a nice replacement or plan "B" item. While the OEM is better in a few ways, this one works well enough. I keep this ZeitNah in my bag and use at my office where there is no strain or pull on the cable. It just lays across my desk there with no stress. I mention this as there seems to be less 'pull' or 'grip' with the magnet at the computer interface. The OEM holds very well in most cases whereas this unit wants to dislodge/disconnect if there is too much movement or any twisting/torquing on the cable as compared to OEM. Sure, ANY magnetic cable would (and should) release with significant strain - that's the idea. But with the ZeitNah cable that release is probably 30%-40% easier than with OEM. That is a non-scientific estimate and only based on my non-scientific testing. Your mileage may vary. For a Plan B back-up travel spare whoopsie item - this is perfect. No qualms there. Aesthetically, this looks great and feels much like the OEM (although the cable wrap is a tad bit rougher/less refined). The color application is excellent and there's no light/dark spots in the material.
- S. C.2024-07-04Great cable - super sturdy
this is now my go-to travel cable because its so sturdy and long. I use it for the lounge and the plane with my portable adapter and since its now "extra" in addition to the ones I keep in my office, I don't stress too much if I were to ever lose it. Seems to charge fully and quickly and does not get hot.
- William H. Suters2024-06-12Unreliable
I was hoping this would be a good replacement for the Apple magnetic charging cord for my MacBook Pro. I want to keep one at home and one at the office. Unfortunately, with this cord, my computer does not reliably switch charging modes. For example, if the computer is fully charged when I plug it in (green light), as the battery is drained it doesn't automatically switch over to charging (yellow light). Also, sometimes, when I plug it in, the computer will chime to indicate it has just been plugged in (yellow light comes on), but then the light goes out. After a moment, the cycle repeats with another chime (light on again). This seems to repeat forever. I don't have these problems with the original charging cord.
- M. Corum2024-06-08Great backup power cable for 2023 MacBook Air 16"
Despite being able to use a Thunderbolt USB-C cable to charge my M3 MacBook Air, I am a big fan of Magsafe 3 cables for the safety they give me for my MacBook. I got this one as a backup that I can leave in my travel backpack with my computer sleeve, dock, and charging adapter. This cable is a nearly perfect replica of the cable that came with my laptop. Same length, same colors, same braided cord exterior. and even the same LED colors to show status. Easy to get them confused and it doesn't really matter. Regarding charging, the speeds are identical, as far as I can tell, with the same power brick on both. No extra heat at all during charging. This is a great backup cable for travelling with your MacBook. Be sure to check your computer to be sure it supports MagSafe 3 before ordering. Very highly recommended.
- Manila Mike2024-06-11Ok but not as good as OEM
The biggest difference between the ZeitNah power cord and the Apple original cord is the wire connection at the magnetic computer end. The Apple cord adds a plastic collar at the connection to provide additional strain relief when the cord needs to flex at this point. This keeps the wires from fraying over time. This was a huge problem with MacBook that used the previous generations of MagSafe. It seems Apple learned a lesson that maybe aftermarket producers have not. If you travel with your laptop and use the cord frequently in different environments, I'd suggest paying a little more and sticking with original equipment cords rather than this one. I purchased this cord to leave at my office for when I use my laptop there. It's nice not to have to remember to take the cord every time. The cord seems to function exactly like the original and the quality of everything except that strain relief collar is as good as an Apple branded cord.
- Gnoman2024-06-06Spare power cable for Macbook Pro
I got this cable as a second power/charging cable for an M3 Macbook Pro. Fit and finish were great. The cable length was nearly identical to the OEM cable from Apple. The green/orange led indicator in the Magsafe end functions exactly like the OEM cable. Unlike the OEM cable, this one comes with a velcro strap that can be used to take up slack in the cable to keep things neat. The braided cloth jacket is a nice touch, providing some abrasion resistance. The cable is pretty much identical in other respects. I checked it out charging a 40% remaining battery on my Macbook while watching YouTube vids and some video processing workflows. The cable performed the same as the OEM cable, easily keeping up with the power draw of the processor grinding away while charging the discharged battery. Maybe a bit high priced for an after-market power cable, but at about $34, it's $15 less than an Apple brand cable.
- Abram H2024-07-11Works great on my MacBook Pro
I have my laptop charger carefully woven into my work desk so the cables don't bother me. So it's a real pain to extract it to use in other rooms. Fortunately, I've got a more powerful charging base (65W) to use in another room. This MagSafe-type to USB-C cable works great. It's powering the computer as I type right now. It's really nice to have a second charging place set up so I can take my computer around without worrying about battery levels. FYI, my laptop can take up to 140W, so it's nice that this cable supports that capacity should I need it.
