Great for a homemade motor speed controller

I wanted to build a variable-speed grass seed spreader using a 12V high-torque motor. However, the motor spins too fast and throws the seed farther than desired. To address this, I used a Power Wheels battery with a motor speed controller, rated for about 20 Amps at 20V. I needed to check its performance in two areas: Voltage Limiting for Battery Protection: Result: Yes, it does protect the battery. Explanation: Dewalt batteries lack built-in over-discharge or under-charge protection and rely on the tool for this. The included Dewalt battery adapter has circuitry that disconnects the battery when the voltage drops to about 15V, matching the cut-out voltage of most Dewalt tools. Driving the High-Current DC Motor: Result: Yes, it effectively drives the motor. Explanation: The attached oscilloscope images show that the pulse width modulation is clean, with the speed controller delivering about 5 amps to the spreader motor. The motor stalls at settings below 15%, but runs smoothly above 15%. Pulse intervals range from about 45 ms to 50 ms as you approach 100% speed, at which point the battery supplies direct DC voltage. Additionally, the speed controller includes forward and reverse functions, which are not needed for my application but are useful features. This setup allows me to attach the spreader to my lawn tractor, insert a Dewalt battery, and spread grass seed efficiently. This project is a great starting point for anyone interested in creating Dewalt battery-powered devices.

    Nice Flexible Motor Controller

This is a handy motor controller that works fairly well. I like having the ability to adapt my Dewalt batteries to power a wide range of different motors, which this device gives you. It’s not top shelf quality so I’d be hesitant to use it in mission critical applications, but at this price point it’s a nice little gadget that seems to work right out of the box.

Awesome Power Wheels motor or other applicable device power speed controller kit!

I think this is a really neat PWM controlled power-speed controller kit. Really handy for the Power Wheels and playing with PWM powered things like motors that can be controlled by the pulse width or duration modulation.

    So many options

Variable speed dewalt battery controller. So many ideas. You could use build a small bench grinder, a drum sander, a disk sander, all kinds of things and have variable speed. Can't wait to start building something, just add your own motor. And at a great price.

    It’s works!

I did have to reverse the wires coming out to the motors to make it go the correct direction but that was an easy swap at the snap connection provided. Works well, and can easily dial up the speed as the kids get more confident. Using dewalt flex volt battery on a power wheel.

    Forward&Reverse switch control !!!

This Azocek Battery Adapter with DC 12-60V Motor Speed Controller Kit and reverse switch can elevate your DIY project with this combo battery holder ( Dewalt 20V batteries) PWM speed controller with a reversing switch. The immediate and simplest project is a multi fan unit for camping using 4 case fans in a frame mounted with this battery holder and controller. But this is the tip of the iceberg for some cool DIY projects. The included mounting screws and wire connectors are icing on the cake. Great unit for the price.

    Defective out of box??

Plugged in a dewalt 20v battery into this guy, wired it up accordingly to my powerwheels power terminals, as soon as I flipped on the switch on the battery adapter, it shorted the board on the battery adapter and I lost continuity on the negative terminal..what??
