My home has cathedral ceilings, which makes changing lamps in recessed lighting fixtures tricky. This bulb changer pole makes things easy. It is sufficiently long that I don't have to dangerously overreach on the top of a ladder. The changer holds the bulbs solidly for both installation and removal.

I have a fan with light sockets that somehow froze the lightbulbs in place and after attaching the adapter to this pole, I easily removed two out of three. The third one fought back, but this set was able to gently apply twisting pressure so that the bulb not only came free, but didn't break in the process. This set is phenomenal. A real lifesaver.

This is a clever and more compact version of the light bulb changers sold in the big box stores. The sections of pole fit together and can be taken apart for storage. IT isn't that easy to change the length of the pole while using it--you need to remove sections. But in practice, you can usually just choke up on the pole if the ceiling is lower. There are various attachments which allow you to grasp different types of bulbs and a duster of sorts for cleaning the blades of a ceiling fan or a clerestory window. In theory, you could use this pole for other things if you can figure out how to attach a paint roller, a brush or a mop. Decent quality all around and, as I said, very easy to store for the months in between light bulb changes when this will just be taking up room in your closet.
