- LKF2024-07-16New Security Ecosystem
These are a set of sleek photoelectric style smoke and fire alarms. The detectors are battery powered by a CR123 battery (easily available and lasts about 5 years in the detector according to the seller.) There is no option to hardwire. The smoke detectors operate independently but are linked to a base (included) which gives you options to connect and install other sensors in this universe. A good app is included which allows you to set up and test the detectors. These are 'speaking' detectors meaning that you can program to say things like 'Smoke detected in the Living Room. Evacuate' rather than hearing an alarm go off and have no idea where it is. IF you want to test the detector, you can do it from the app rather than climb a ladder to press a button--a significant improvement. Detector status including battery strength is provided on the app and push notifications are provided so that you will know if something isn't working. I am not clear as to how this can interface with my current system (Smartthings) or my current central station. After all, if an alarm goes off, I want the fire department called by the system (as I currently have it) rather than having to fumble with the phone. As I get more experience with these, I will come back and ammend this review if necessary.
- MnM2024-07-10Great product in the X-Sense ecosystem
I like X-Sense products, they seem well made and the app is really good. And it's nice to create a cohesive ecosystem of smart home devices that can talk with a centralized app (or each other, in some cases). As a replacement to old wired smoke detectors, these are a huge upgrade. Even though they are not wired for power, the battery claims to last 10 years, I can live with that. False alarms are simple to turn off at the app or base station. The one minor installation issue I had is that the base plate is not quite big enough to cover the hole for the outlet box that was used with the old detectors (I used some white caulk to fill in the gaps). I really like these smoke detectors, I think they are worth the price, considering the quality and the additional functionality.
- Heather G.2024-07-12The set of smoke detectors works really great
The set of smoke detectors was so easy to set up and connect with my phone. Everything was so self-explanatory and easy to use and I had everything set up in just a few minutes. I love that it is connected to my phone, so if anything goes wrong when I’m not home I will be aware of it. Really great quality, great product and a great value for the money.
- PND2024-07-09Great upgrade and a modern way of doing fire alarms!
This is a really great smart home system that alerts you in the event that one of your smoke alarms are triggered. The devices are quality made and easy to setup and pair. It has 17 preset locations, and provides voice alerts like "Warning! Smoke detected in Dining Room! Evacuate!" The alarms are interconnected to the base station and emit a powerful 100 dB sound. You can test the alarm via the app. You can also share the device with up to 12 family members through the X-Sense Home Security App. Setting up the SBS50 base station is easy and straightforward, and its ability to support up to 50 devices allows you to expand to many more security devices offered by xsense. The alarms can be mounted within a 1,700 ft open-air connection range. Overall, this is a great upgrade and a modern way of doing fire alarms!
