- Tom Cumbey2024-03-17Nice Plates
Plates came flat and were cut square. They are heavy as you would expect for plates of this size.

Quality steel. Nicely packaged.

Worked for my needs. Not sure that it would be magnetic, but another review said it was, so purchased, and it is perfect for what I need. Magnets at bottom of my narrow vases.

Used these to anchor magnets from shades on our pergola!
- Andrew2024-03-24As advertised
Welded these to the bottom of my jackstands for use on asphalt (to prevent the legs of the jackstands from sinking into the soft asphalt). They're as-advertised and cheap.

These conveniently cut and prepared 3/16" (5mm) square plates can be used for all kinds of projects but are probably best suited as mounting plates or flanges for your steel framed projects. I'm planning to use these for a custom project which will involve both drilling and welding these plates to a larger frame. These A36 grade plates are essentially just cut and finished 4" hot rolled steel plate. The grade is just slightly lower than 1018 hot rolled which is more often used for machining but both have very similar properties. These plates have less scaling on their surface and so are much smoother to work with and require minimal prep work for welding. They are also more dimensionally flat whereas other hot rolled plates tend to have a slight degree of warpage from the rolling and cooling process. These plates are not only smoother but have rounded corners and deburred edges AND come very neatly packaged. As a result, you are paying significantly more than simply buying a length of 3/16", 4" plate from a hardware store and then cutting it to size with a saw. I am pleased with the finish of these plates but at almost $10 per plate for a 4 pack, this seems a little too high. I'm only deducting a star for the price.
- R. Patton2023-12-07Target practice anyone?
There are many uses for these types of metal plates, but I used them as a replacement for slingshot targets. Excellent quality so they can be hit with steel or clay ammo. Depending on the size of steel ammo the thickness of plates should accommodate as the force of impact will dent and slowly deform the target. Nevertheless it works great and has an amazing audible gong sound. I'm not disappointed with these.
- Happy Consumer2023-04-02Good quality and nicely flat.
I bought these to use as backing plates for some of my magnets. I was looking for low carbon iron that I could cut up and form. Pure iron is the most magnetic element and as best material for this purpose. This is clearly a quality product and not sold for my purpose. I am, however, pleased with what I received. They are very flat, clean, free of defects and fairly hard. I am still experimenting with them. As I had hoped they are indeed very magnetic and I can cut them with a standard hacksaw blade but not easily. For my purpose softer would have been better. This is likely just a matter of tempering them by heating to red or white glow and cooling slowly. So far I am happy with my purchase. Thank you.

It’s measured accurately, it’s heavy, and free of rust. What can I say say, It’s 4 4inch metal squares. I didn’t end up using them for anything.
