Microscopes have come a long way, and they've always fascinated me. This 4K display of this Dcorn microscope is exceptional and has a stylish, professional aesthetic. The instructions are very straightforward.

Works great so far. Will update as time goes on. This is a great microscope for the money. The picture is crystal clear and amazing detail on everything we have used it on. Would definitely recommend this scope for collectors
- SBG2024-06-30OK for the price, but could use improvement in several areas
Overall, this microscope offers good value for money, but there are several areas where it needs to be improved. My use case was photographing an old microfiche which requires really precise focusing. Pluses: Supposedly this uses a Sony sensor at 52mega-pixels. At the time of writing this, that number is the highest I've seen for a 'cheap' Amazon microscope and the overall picture quality is good, except for noise which I discuss in the minuses section. The built-in battery is a nice feature in case you feel compelled to use this device away from a power source. The base-plate is a solid hunk of aluminum. All the cables you need are included. Minuses: When zoomed in, the edges of an image have a lot of noise and tend to 'dance' - not sure if this is from the sensor itself, internal noise being picked up or poor gain control. Whichever, it was a pain to deal with for my project and required extra effort in Lightroom and Photoshop to fix. The menus are annoying to navigate - there are lots of options which really require 4 arrow keys / OK / back. Instead we get 2 arrow keys and OK. That's it for both the front of the unit and the remote. Sure, it works, but it's just painful to use. Many settings in the menu are persistent if you turn the unit off, but a few are not (Automatic Exposure for example) and have to be set each time. The biggest pain is the focus control. You use the clunky ratchet system that supports the microscope unit for coarse focus / zoom and the focus ring on the camera unit for fine focus. The fine adjustment is way too sensitive and unsurprisingly has a ton of backlash. This makes accurate focusing challenging and is an area that could really be improved. Ideally, I'd like to see an Auto-focus or electronically assisted focus option and is something I'd be willing to pay for.

You know, I WISH instruments like this existed when I was a child. This is, for the money, an excellent little microscope. Every building has a foundation, and the foundation of a digital microscope is the image sensor. This has a 4k Sony image sensor at its heart, so the foundation here is very good, and better than most. The 8" 4k display is just brilliant. But, despite having frankly a very decently large 8" screen, you can take it one step further and connect this via HDMI to any size TV you like, even a projector. So, really, the screen size is "unlimited". You can even connect it to a PC, and any webcam software (like IPViewer) will work with this, seeing it as a webcam. Honestly, though, connecting it to the big TV is WAY cooler. You can record stills or video, no problem. Once again, all in 4k. The possibilities that opens up is just endless. Mag levels are obviously not anywhere near a professional trinocular microscope, obviously, and you won't be looking through any slides. But this isn't really that kind of microscope. But for things like electronics repair, looking at bugs, finding hidden symbols on the back of the dollar bill, looking at coins, leaves, this is perfect. In fact, being able to record 4k video, this would be a great microscope for taking time lapse video of crystal formation. This microscope certainly is a bit pricier than many "digital microscopes". But they won't have beautifully large 4k screens, they won't be able to record 4k video, and they won't have Sony image sensors. My opinion? I'm STEM all the way. I firmly believe spending more for a quality instrument pays big dividends down the road by fostering a genuine interest in science that a poor quality instrument might extinguish forever. I think it's worth every penny, and whether you're an adult that needs it for your work or hobby, or a parent getting it because your child has shown and interest in science, I think either one will get a lot from this instrument. 5 stars.

I've got a dog that is going through some kind of skin issue that we've yet to identify. When I rang the vet, they told me they'd need to do a scrape and look at it under the microscope to get a better idea of what we're looking at. They quoted over $400 for that service, so I thought "I wonder if I can get a microscope and do it myself for less?" Well happy days for me since this one popped up for me through the Vine program, but had it not, I'd still have ordered it for the price. I like that this microscope has a screen to watch rather than having to squint through eye pieces. The video and photo capture feature was gold for my use! I did a scrape and prepared it on a makeshift slide. Once I had it on the microscope, I started the video very zoomed out, then progressively got closer and zoomed in before maxing out the capability of the unit. I have no way of confirming that it's actually zooming in 2000x, but it feels like it! I can get incredibly close, to the point where a single hair looks like a giant hollow tube. I then sent this video plus some other still shots from the microscope to my vet. This was what the vet needed to see to determine that it's a digestive issue manifesting as a skin problem, rather than something like mites or mange. Now, I have a sweet microscope for other things and saved myself $400 at the vet! The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the whole unit feels like a mid-quality microscope. Plastic and lightweight aluminum don't give it much heft, and the adjustment system is crude and sloppy, but overall, it does work well.
- Tryphaena2024-06-19There’s a hair!
This is a nice product. It isn’t as strong as an actual microscope, but it IS still strong enough to see details on things you can normally see with your physical eyes. So it is really cool if you are examining bugs, plants, dirt, etc. It just wouldn’t work with microscopic organisms. The issue that I have with it is that upon our FIRST use, we realized that there is a tiny hair in the magnifier. You can see it on the screen, no matter what you are looking at. It’s quite annoying. I would think for a machine of this price, something like that wouldn’t happen. It’s actually INSIDE the little lens area, where you can’t get to it. So we are just stuck with a constant hair showing on the screen. Other than that, my kids have been having a blast examining everything, and seeing way more than you can with your eyes. I don’t know that I would pay this much for this type of machine, even though I know they can be even more expensive. The hair really soured me towards this product. It’s nice, but that hair is so annoying. And the fact that we can’t get to it makes it worse. It is fun otherwise, though. That hair is my only complaint.

i have never been into microscopes but this seems to be pretty feature filled for what you get. the screen is crystal clear and really makes it easy to get a view of whatever item you are trying to look at. it comes with everything you need to get close up views of various items; as long as you can fit it into the viewing area then it will work. requires power outlet of course. pretty cool item.
- CoolCube2024-07-09Digital Microscope for the curious
My husband really wanted this digital microscope for examining his coin collection. So I ordered it, not expecting that I would be the one who's been using it the most. I've used this microscope to help identify thrips (microscopic bugs that my phone camera could not capture) which resulted in me being able to find a solution to take care of the thousands of thrips before they could wreak havoc on my vegetable garden. The initial set-up of the microscope is relatively straightforward. There are a few things you need to plug in, such as the microscope and the lights, all of which are powered from a USB-C. So if you have a multi-head USB-C cable, you can power all at once. Otherwise, the cable provided only powers one thing at a time. Picture quality is great, if you can get your specimen to stay still. Most of my bugs were still running around so getting a good quality photo for my review was a bit challenging (see photo). The only challenge I've had with this microscope is adjusting the focus on the neck. It takes quite a bit of pressure to rotate the neck which makes the focus jump around a bit until you get it dialed in. I'd prefer a smoother function to adjust the focus. That's the only reason why I deducted 1 star.

- Jeff N2024-06-22Features you don't get from traditional microscopes
A digital microscope with a built-in display is a novel product to me. I love how multiple viewers can participate - you can even project to a large external screen via HDMI. The high quality image and video capturing capabilities are awesome. Lots of options in the screen settings to control picture and capture quality, illumination intensity, color, etc. Great for hobby painting, electronics, stitching, science, and more.
